The article is 7 years old. That's what makes it old news. That fact, plus the obvious fact that we don't know what all they've been doing in the intervening time is what makes it old news.

Are you just looking for a scrap or something?
Well, I guess so. You post old stuff, folks disagree, then you bitch about it's old news. Fuck ya, let's scrap. I like scraping, I'm very good at it

I wonder how far they've gotten with drone swarms by now?

We're already killing more 'enemy combatants' with drones every year, soon the number will be larger than by traditional ground forces.

We are the Evil Empire of Star Wars; we have murdered, overthrown democratically elected governments, assassinated and started wars for profit so much that it's now expected of us.

It didn't work out so well for the British Empire, and I fail to see how we will free much better by simply exchanging rifles for autonomous killing machines.

Terminator is among my all time favorite science fiction movies, because of its basic premise; the idea that designing and building machines to do our killing for us will not come back to haunt our race...

Or destroy us all.

We've killed exponentially more people with drone strikes every year since we developed and deployed them.

Please tell me how you expect it will be any different with autonomous combat vehicles?

WE won't program OUR drones to kill US, of course- but how long do you think we'll be the only ones with this technology? Even Iran has stealth tech now. They also have a broad array of drone technologies and aircraft. They aren't alone.

The rest of the world is waking up to America's endless wars for profit- 16 years and counting in Afghanistan, for example. They are realizing that if the battle stays on their soil, they'll be the only ones who take casualties. How long do you think that will last?

You know I didn't say any of that.

What I suggested is that we stop USING our drones so much.

Are you saying it's totally fine to keep murdering innocents around the world by remote control? The current pace is three strikes a week, no time off for weekends and holidays. The DoD would have us believe that the collateral casualty rate is tiny. The facts on the ground speak to an entirely different truth.

Because I think it's time we stopped killing anywhere and everywhere just because we can (or that there's a buck in it) or they'll start killing us. Here. It's only a matter of time.

We might even win. Will it be worth the cost? What would be left after the next Great War? The clowns in our government seem to want to make it happen, judging by their words and actions. Donald Trump's 3 main advisors are all generals. The State Department has been hollowed out. Google 'Lindsey Graham 30% chance' speech.

Before you say it can't happen, keep in mind that few expected WWII either.

Troll me all you want. If denial and disbelief are the best rebuttals you can manage, then who's the crazy one?

"Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) will be the most dynamic growth sector of the world aerospace industry this decade, more than tripling in the next decade, report Teal analysts in their latest market analysis. Worldwide military adoption of UAVs and soaring demand for the next generation of unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) are driving the market’s rapid growth.

Teal Group's 2017 market study estimates that UAV production will increase from current worldwide UAV production of $4.2 billion annually in 2017 to $10.3 billion in 2026, totaling $80.5 billionin the next ten years. Military UAV research spending would add another $26 billion over the decade."

Oh bullshit that is not what you said, you said the AF killed their drone program.
@Singlemalt
Don't want to crap up Neo's thread with this, but you seem interested in the topic;

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wired.com/2011/06/killer-drone-secret-history/amp/

Read the article and you'll discover some amazing things about just how wasteful American defense spending is. For example, the Air Force killed their drone program because they wanted to protect their F-22 and F-35 named fighter programs- even if they were to be rendered obsolete by the new unmanned combat air vehicles!

Besides attention, what do you want Ty? You earlier said we were closing the drones down and now what? Like I said earlier, is every thing an evil conspiracy? You are all over the map. Shall we all say America is Satan? Then what, you get laid by Schuylaar? And then Bernie is Pres?
