I'll be 63 in 13 days and have had a mild form of tinnitus for at least the last decade. Kind of a mild buzz on both sides that actually has been helpful when I suffered from insomnia. A small stroke a few years ago cured the insomnia but the buzz persists. Easy enough to ignore so it doesn't bother me much. I think it makes it harder to hear conversations in a noisy space but that kind of goes with the old fart factor so wtf.
Sitting right in front of the speakers at rock concerts at the Colosseum in Vancouver in the late 60s/early 70s might have something to do with it. Alice Cooper's Dead Babies tour was especially loud.
