DIY with Quantum Boards

No ...... It is made by DormGrow - 90watt led

The G8-90RR LED Red light by G8LED is added to the veg/flower lights during flowering maximize yields. The red spectra are absorbed by the plant for increased size during flowering. This G8LED is compact and can be used in almost any space. Add the 90W Red at the start of flowering to increase wattage and the ratio of red wavelengths during flowering to obtain the best yield. The light can be hung right next to or below the main panel or angled as desired.
Is there anything to the sun rise/sun set scenario?
As a cheaper solution. Try a cheapy HiGrow, 5w diode, 12band with in bloom/veg mode. Cost is $89 for a 300w equiv, and they had a lightning sale recently and picked up another for $69. Those lights are great, have lenses like the Advanced Platinum line. I have larger led grow lights, but this one has something special too it, and I think it is the UV or IR, or both. Because it is the first light I have had with those extras added. I got my brother turned on to them, and he fitted his whole tent with them after testing root growth, in hydro, & noticed shorter clone rooting times, and comparing two cloned plants. I have noticed the same. Anyway, to make a really long story short, I have not noticed anything using just regular bloom led lights to stimulate sun rise and sun set. Now, I have not tested this with UV or IR added. I know there is a lot of talk about putting plants to sleep/wake modes. I have heard the Europeans using this method, but have not actually seen anything proving this theory.

I think there is a GrowMau5 video where he was testing jacks against high end nutes and it was basically a tie. He had one of his high end COB rigs and add reds and blues and said he did not see too much. Grrow Mau5 also has a cheapie red build video which is pretty cool.

Did you build that light from an old ufo?

Here is the DEEP RED only going on after Quantum kicks off for the night.
It is on a timer to run for 30 min AFTER QB rigs turns off and 30 min BEFORE rig lights up.

For a solo unit , it has a pretty good spread. Pics dont due it justice.
My ipad sucks at photos , but believe me it is a deeper red than the photo.
I wanted to show you how much the plants leaf surface is taking the red light. The mylar ( 2 mil ) is helping im sure too.

Going trough and reading his thread in it's entirety.

I'm looking to use the QBs as the single light source in my veg area (4x8 tent). Can anyone reccomend the number of boards and drive current? On the hlg site they state the 260w kit (2qb ran @ 1.05a) covers a 4x4 print for veg. In your experience is this sufficient?

Robin,

Do you have any mark ups on how far the boards should be apart for maximum coverage in a 4x4? I am trying to come up with housing design for the QB's.

Really depends how hard you push them.
If it's just for veg tho I'd say two kits would work at a reasonable wattage.

I have seen flowering finish a week sooner with the red at lights off. I have not seen the results for using both. I did read about an experiment with IR (Heat) right before lights on and he got the same week sooner finish.

If you can knock two weeks off of your indoor flower time, I think that is well worth $200.
