DIY with Quantum Boards

@Stephenj37826 how much space would be needed above the heatsinks to still function? I'm trying to decide if building them into the roof is worth the extra carpentry.

For a 2x4x 2'h veg/herbs box with two qbs, how hard would you run them? I'm leaning towards the hlg240 with dimming, increased cost seems marginal considering the extra power available if needed. Is my thinking way off? I'm drawing a blank trying to work out ppf, unfortunately.

I'm hoping to be able to start/grow any plants I want to, recreational or otherwise. So I'm thinking the new spectrums (spectra ffs lol) would be my best choice, any idea? Would rather get it right the first time lol.

Would it be possible to run different colors on the same driver?
If you run a hlg240-c1050 driver board voltage won't matter as you will run them in series this way. Also if you are going to run then extremely close to the top of the cabinet just make sure you have some airflow above them.

The eagle has landed. These things are awesome! Thanks @robincnn and @Stephenj37826!
Just took these cuts of Underdog og out of the clone dome and transplanted them into 1 gallon pots. Will veg them 5 to 7 days so they can plant their feet, then flip. My goal is 30gr+ a plant.
Have the 320 driver on lowest setting pulling about 110w. Will go up to 200w when I flip.

Nice/ Keep the pictures coming.

Anyone know how to calculate efficiency?
Want to know board efficiency at 930-1000 ma. Parallel if that matters.

@robincnn
I am thinking of picking up either 4 boards or two complete vs to light fixtures...before I do I thought I would ask ..if there is an Riu code or anything?
Boards are in stock. Heatsinks for boards are out of stock and will be back in 2 weeks.
For complete lamps email or contact from here
https://northerngrowlights.com/community/contact

Sorry no RIU promo codes on website. Never liked the complexity of raising price only to add a discount code.
We do offer better pricing on purchase of 8 or more boards.

@1000ppm
there is a quick reference chart on
https://northerngrowlights.com/pages/engineering
Closest listed to 1amp is the 1050,

109.9(volt) 1050(amp) 115.39(watt) 166.7(lumen/watt)
and with a 321 LER that is roughly 52% efficiency.

Literally the very 1st post explains it all.........and Divide the actual Lumens per watt by LER [theoretical construct of what a diode emits at 100% efficiency] ....to get your efficiency #

@Budzbuddha thanks for sharing pics. your grow looks great.
For now we only have plants of limited 4000K and 5000K boards.

We are thinking of stocking some 660nm starboards with push connectors to suppliment the board light. No plans for IR chips and maybe UV boards yet.
We thought about dual channel boards 3000K and 5000K but it seems 3000K is doing well enough. Lets see results from 4000K and 5000K boards and then we can see if dual channel(spectrum) boards are needed

Regarding new size boards @Stephenj37826 have been upload_2017-1-6_18-4-12.png discussing about new board designs all weeks we have a new concept everyday. Things will take a while as we want to create something much better. Holidays in China for next few weeks so things will take a while.

320h c2800 running 3 boards.
for 930-1000 ma per board 162-172lm/w depending on current and Vf bin
For more details refer to Calculator here. Use values LM561C, 3000K, 80 CRI, AZ Voltage Bin, S5 Flux bin. # of LED as 304x (number of boards). Change IF_Drive mA to see lm/W and flux for different power.
Some of the new boards are coming at A1 voltage bin instead of AZ bin. A1 has slightly higher voltage so slightly lower LM/w
I will update website to list the lm/W Vf and details for both AZ and A1 voltage bins.

We will upgrade the boards to S6 flux bin. Should take 10-14 weeks.

robin, I thought I was beginning to understand these drivers. I thought "HLG-320" meant 320 watts was max output. But you're saying 390 watts at the wall. The driver's not consuming 60W, is it?

Also, how exactly is this one wired? It's always helpful to give the specifics when describing a working combination.
NapalmD's lamp is wired like this with HLG-320H-C2800A

HLG-320H-C2800 is rated 319.2W at 92% efficiency about 347 watts at wall.
However these Type A drivers have more power. HLG-320H-C2800 comes set at 2800mA. You can adjust the current and get a little higher. NapalmD's lamp was pulling 390 Watts at wall with HLG-320H-C2800A
