Helicopter infared detection of growlights???

Grow lights burn much, much hotter than normal lights, they show up bright white on infared.
If your using vented hoods, like most all major ops, they show up too. Bright white next to the light to a variable red. Then orange.
They can definately see a functional grow room from the air.
Look into spy technology.
If you are using CFLs there aren't any problems. And if you only have a couple lights I'd think they couldn't care less. If your taking up the whole basement, I'd suggest covering up, it couldn't hurt.

It was a defined white rectangle(hood), and visable tubes going from rectangle to rectangle, they were red to orange.
No matter what, that hot air can be seen.
You could also see the water heater and the cold air in the central air system.
Trust me, the technology is there, you think they won't use it?

But what you should be worried about statisticly, is a bitch girlfriend that tips off the cops. That's how most growers go down.

For example, my local newspaper ran a headline "Million Dollar Marijuana Bust" the pic was of two HIDs in hoods with 200 solo cups with yellow crappy looking seedlings.
I'd love to see somebody make a million off that.
When this article ran, I had 6 lights blooming 54 plants and a mother room full of flourescents and t5s, mothers and clones about 200 plants or more just in veg. I mothered for a couple other growers, sold clones 5bucks, established clones 10bucks.
My op would've been a billion dollar bust LOL
The guy was busted by his bitch girlfriend!

those helicopters have better things to be doing and cost a fortune to put into the air .. they dont send them into the air and say "go see what you can find". They respond to car theft, robberies etc,,not "some guy might be growing weed go check it out"
Edit: so if you're not a police suspect..ex commercial weed grower or likely to get tipped off don't bother worrying too much.
And one question..Anyone know of a friend being busted cos they got spotted by a passing copper?

Where I live, they don't have anything better to do, they roam around over cornfields looking for weed, my tax dollars hard at work. :furious:

About every other month this is discussed. Thos cameras can not tell a 1,000 light from your Heater or stove. But here is how they bust you. It is when you line up 6 or so lights that they figure you have a crop going. if you have one or two lights they can not tell what they are. If I was to turn out my lights and they were to fly over my house, they would see at least one objects that would look like a light, at certain times of the day they would see 2-3 object that look like lights, but they are in different areas of my home. These being my hot water tank, my heater, my stove and my dryer. So unless you are a big commercial grower save your money and relax.
