i was watching never get raided and the distinguishable grow houses were places where there was no other electricity on except the lamps. if your in a regular house with other stuff on like your light and tvs and such then it wont be that bad through intfared.


again, only the houses that has NOTHING else but grow light stood out

well there was a faq in old OG about this, but it didnt use any any detect foil or whatever.

what u do is get enough drywall or wood to build all new walls in ur grow area, u set up the new walls about 3 inched away from the existing wall. making the entire room have a 3 inch gap all around it

then u use an AC unit to pump cold air in between the walls through that 3 inch gap
it will counter the heat being generated in ur grow area and from a a chopper al lthay see is a room at whatever temp the 3 inch gap is, masking the temp inside the "shelll" of cold air

but again un the US thay need a warrent so no worries if thats were u are

I saw that site real cheap forgot all about it.well the Ir blocker is everything else cost is high.

The helicopters dont detect the lights,,
It simply only detects the heat left in the room from the lights..

Over time as your room get hotter and hotter (if you dont have a well ventilated room) it creaets a heat signiture on the spot the grow room is and thats what the cam picks up,,
Also if your room is well vented you might not have a heat sig but now you have a huge hot air exit.

Which is also what the look for.

SO ventilate under your house or evenly distrute it in the attic and your all good.

personally i think all coverups are a scam.
Just understand the science and your good.

Most guys IMO are not understanding the capablility of IR cameras.

They only see surface heat, they cannot "peer into" and x-ray vision your whole house.

For example, they couldn't tell if I was for some reason sleeping in my attic at night.

What they see, is the difference in heat between different parts of the house.

If you have one room that is say, on the corner of your house, and it is constantly at 80 degs inside temp, and perhaps you have your ballasts sitting right next to an external wall, that part of the house from an EXTERNAL VIEW would look "whiter" in an IR camera.

Even then, LEO doesn't go around looking for warm rooms in houses, but if they say, get a tip that you might be growing or selling weed, or someone smells weed around your house and they get a search warrant and see that hot room, then that would be probable cause for a search of your house.

I like a previous poster's idea of the air conditioned "shell" but that is really only necessary if you are utilizing a whole room of a house for growing.

I have a dresser with a 400MH inside it, and it does get warm andexhausts quite a bit of warm air, but since it is not near any external walls and my house has good air circulation, this warm air is evenly distributed throughout the house, which leaves me with no paranoia whatsoever. Also helps with the heat bill in cold times!

Be smart, and you'll be fine.

EDIT: If you must exhaust air externally, a good tip I've seen is to hook your exhaust up to a dryer exhaust vent. Nobody would question a warm dryer exhaust.

i have seen some great info here on this thread...but what about helicopters with I-R looking outside in woods and fields...they are mostly looking for meth labs in the woods but cant the I-R find signatures of plants outside or are they just getting lucky and actually seeing the plants when they find plants from the air?...i have heard for years that they can see 3 or more plants with I-R outside.

I would highly doubt pot plants give off a different IR sig, or that they would fly around looking for warm plants, but I don't kno for sure.
