The translucent roots are what worry me, when they look like that, usually it means the root is injured
Everything can play a part imo, each little thing that can be Controlled is just a part of the final picture. To my knowledge, diseases that attack plants can be anywhere, in our water to in the air. I believe pythium (root rot) has spores, which can be anywhere. Powdery mildew is a fungus and so is root rot. There are about 500 different kinds of pythium from what I've read. Maintenance and preventative measures are the key to success. You could very well be blowing in root rot through the air pump, but don't let that deter you from using an air pump, I've been using one for just a little while now and it's much better than not using an air pump. But always give time for your bennies to start working, I try but can't always, but if you have time, prep your res water before planting, give it the bennies and run it at least a few days if you can, bubble out the chlorine first if using tap, then add the bennies, let them brew for a few days, then plant. I can't really guarantee this is an end all problems, but any step is a step that helpsI destroyed her.
I tried again and put the airpump outside the room and changed the airstones to an airdifuser and all seems good.
Do u think any of the above could have solved the issue. The airstones were making the water extremely turbulent, the room is also small so not much fresh air.

Root rot is a bitch bro, it can happen, even in colder water, some strains of root rot are more of a pain in the ass, I think there's 150 or more types. Ridomil bro. Kill it fast with that, sterilize everything and it will be gone, promise. Then use the hydroguard and pondzyme. Ditch roots excel in hydro, it's good for drip systems, but seems to cause root rot in hydro for some reasonim making an EWC tea.
im going to drain the res in 48hrs, refill with a small amount of nutrients and add the Tea to the res and around the root crown of the plants.
i just dont get why, all temps and everything else is spot on. ive been using pondzyme, hydroguard and a small amount of roots excel.
thanks for the advice man. ive added physan20 and ill run for 6hrs then flush and fill with RO water. do u think i should add the ewc tea or just go with the hydroguard and pondzyme. also do u think she will survive.?Root rot is a bitch bro, it can happen, even in colder water, some strains of root rot are more of a pain in the ass, I think there's 150 or more types. No problem man, and she can survive, might take a while though. I never used the tea before but I hear that's the best route to go. You could add hydroguard with the tea, pondzyme is probably OK too and should work with the tea. New roots should show in a week give or take I'd reckonthanks for the advice man. ive added physan20 and ill run for 6hrs then flush and fill with RO water. do u think i should add the ewc tea or just go with the hydroguard and pondzyme. also do u think she will survive.?
It does not look like rot. They could be stained from solutions. They could be brown from detritus. They could be brown because you are exposing them to light to keep looking at them.
If they were rotten you would know it. First use your nose. Then use your fingers. If its pudding its rotten. If its stringy its a brown root leave it alone and in the dark. Seal your res from light.
Here's some pics I've taken of all different hydro systems and what the roots should look like, no matter nutes regimen. I've not experienced staining, I do use fulvics and some organic stuff here and there. The roots ages are between 14 days and 120 days old, as they get older they may turn yellowish and firmer. I'd you do use something that stains roots, consider if this happens to all your plants or just some, if it's not all the plants and just a couple, root disease, if all, possibly staining (if this never happened before, root rot). Aeroponic, Dwc, ebb and flow. Hope this helps.
