^ you better add some lime to that.
I think this is where I phucked up... I made my own mix from coco coir, bagged composted cow manure, and vermiculite, I don't know the ratios, I just mixed up all I had... But I didn't add any lime... Now I'm having some problems... I believe my PH is out of wack... Waiting for my PH/TDS meter in the mail so I can hopefully save my girls... I want to flip them into flower but really want them back on the right track first. Shit, sorry for semi hijacking this thread.

The promix with the fungi is good shit for sure. Two seasons ago we did a decent backyard grow, 30 plants 9-14 feet tall... Well 12 of the plants were from some bag seed, I started them.in cups and they got stunted and stretched way out due to needing to be transplanted... I then planted all 12 in a 10 gallon pot, and they blew the fuck up in 2 days, and the final flowers were amazing, looked like indoors it was sick. The home depot near me sells bails of pro mix for $13 bucks... Gonna grab a couple today

lime in coco? i saw mr ed suggest that on another website, but never needed it with treated coco. of course i know the ph my nutrient solution is without checking it with a ph meter, too many times mixing the same thing ;)

This current grow after being unable to find that $13 BBS Promix i bit the bullet and bought the actual Promix HP that I had been trying to emulate. It is really nice but too expensive.

Man I keep seeing all these ppl hating on MG and I can bet most of the haters have never even tried it just regurgitating shit they read on it. Try it before you knock it, it might surprise you and then you'll find out that all these suppose soils made "specifically" for mj is bullshit
I tied It on several grows....MG is total trash

Your opinion and i respect that cause you've had experience with it not just talking ish. But like I said I've had wonderful results from the moisture control to the organic line just gotta know how to use it

a friend and his dad swore by the seed starter soil from start to finish - they grew great plants. oh yeah, they used the MG tomato feed for nutrients.
I used to use the tomato feed the one that comes in bottle that looked like a tomato lol. man that was good stuff but I'm all organic now or I'd still be using it

I know a lady grower on here who swears by the MG moisture control and has great grows using it...it just doesn't work for me...the only product I like from them is their seed starter mix .

If your Lowe's has Kellogg soil products, get the Patio Plus and move on with your project. You can add perlite if you like. This is a quality organic mix and the price ($6 in my area) is great. This does not have to be nearly as complicated as this thread makes it seem. Don't bake it, don't shake it, don't piss in it - just use it.

My Lowe's shopping list looks like this:

Blood meal, bone meal, Epson salts, lime, peat moss, Black Kow {manure compost}, MG citrus time release plant food, perlite and vermiculite. I have used a potting soil from there, {Something Jungle}, but I use mostly Metro Mix that I get from a friend who runs a nursery. I also add lots of mushroom mulch, which can be bought at Lowe's, but it's a lot cheaper to buy a truck load from a farm store. I pay $20 for a scoop, almost a cubic yard.

Most folks don't know it, but there is a guy at the Contractor's desk who can give you a break on price. I call him the Jobber, but his title is something like Project Coordinator. He is the guy who will figure all the lumber, screws, nuts and bolts needed for your new deck and give you a price that will beat HD's. {I'm sure HD has a guy who does the same thing} If my guy isn't there, I come back another day. I never pay full price at Lowe's.

From Lowes would be Pro mix Hp, Greensmix steer manure, chicken manure, mushroom compost. Kellogg's soil conditioner ( fine wood chips). I was buying perlite there but Napa auto parts sells diatomaceous earth (floor dry) for less and it does not float to the surface :hump:. I also buy a bottle of fish poop 5.1.1 although I really hardly use it.

Other than those things I go to a garden/pet store for my dry amendments like Kelp meal, Alfalfa meal, Crab shell meal, Azomite, Langbeinite, Humic acid, Green sand, Oyster shell..........

I forgot the fish stuff. I buy that from Lowe's too. BIL has chickens and turkeys, so I get my manure mulch from him.
