Question, is it best to Veg a plant under T5's or HPS.

hps...hands down

I have both, but when my harvest is up, should I put the babies under the HPS for 18 hours a day?

i need more info...your babies??? clones?seeds?
and what are you putting them under that light for????veg,flower,clone???

If you have t5 use them... they like the blue spectrum for veg....

I only have hps so i added some cfls for a ghetto dual spectrum... works great...

cfl's in my opinion are never ever to be compared to hps or mh for that matter!
that's like comparing a bic lighter to a forest fire...a glass of water to a swimming pool
but fuck...smoke em if ya got em'...use em up

and for vegging ....mh are the best so if you can get one of those...do it. the hps can cause asome stretching, whereas the mh induce bushy caracteristics....that aint spewld rite huh?

cfl's in my opinion are never ever to be compared to hps or mh for that matter!

genfranco didn't suggest using only cfl's for vegging. they said they use a hps for veg because it's what they have, but they add cfl's to it for some extra blueish light to help growth. cfl's aren't a bad thing for supplementing, neither are led's.

thx for explanation.... HPS and cfl put together fixed the stretching problem and i didnt have to buy a $89 dollar bulb... Sometimes figuring things out for yourself is better than just throwing money into it...

They seem to like it to me... I even have the light a little far so they dont burn up.... they keep growing good...

Some people recommend putting MH instead of HPS for vegging cause it causes stretch... well those 4 cfls fixed that.... i have no stretch and they are getting bushier....

I dont want to keep throwing money into this...

but the original poster might think diferently...this is just my findings from experimenting...

first my cloner is taking 17 days to root only 13 out of 30 fuckin clones...wtf

then my 1000w hps in the flower chamber blew....and no backup
cant even get one till thursday.

this could potentially set me back months if it all goes tits-up
i was about to post some pics of the pretty buds forming....to depressed now, maybe tomorrow.

Check out this I am wondering if the cleaning process was flawed. I don't know what i did but i am NOT doing the same next time.

ya spark...i read that thread as it was being written so i heard about your issue...damndest thing....i put my water on a timer this time around...once i transplanted the clones lots of them had stem rot....my water temps are perfect and so is ph and h202 and disolved o2....al said they are simply too wet. so i'll try the timer and cross my fingers.

I too had some cloning issues similar to yours, my solution was to get an expensive ass digital timer to make it 30 minutes off, 15 on, all the time. Apparently its vital to root development that they're allowed to dry out a bit between watering. It took me from a 50\50 survival rate with an average 2 weeks to root, all the way to 95\5 in about half that time. Pricey for a good timer, but so worth it.

no, i was lucky and i have cool tubes so it would have stayed in there...no mine were hot started to often so i suck. gonna get a new one and a backup
