Best system for SOG?

Wow I run a complete cycle and never have clogs and the only filter is the foam shit thing on the intake. I wonder if its the choice of nutes? I do use the mini sprinkler heads so perhaps bigger orifice. I just ordered the red 180's so we'll see... Hope no clogs, that would be a drag

scrog then i would say also ebb because the buckets are spread out and the res is not in the tent staying cooler and scrog the mothers around the room. but honestly i find smaller nugs scrogging and less weight than sog.

they all clog bad

room for 36 , usually 30 though.
so on one tote of 30-36 plants you'd get 1-1.5/oz per plant? and you said you run aero now, how are your results with aero compared to dwc as far as quality, yield and growth speed? worth the extra work?

you keep your reservoir out side of your room/tent where the plants are? thought everybody just kept it under the trays... that must take up a lot of extra space and time to set up although it does sound a lot more cheap then buying a chiller

Well I get 1- 1.25 oz per plant, your experience will prolly vary . Quality is the same as DWC, yield is up about 1/8th- 1/4 oz per plant depending on the strain, (Skunk #1 about 1/8 th - Gumboldt about 1/4 oz) Speed of growth is quicker by a week or so depending on the temp outside at the time. After you get it setup and tuned properly it is actually a lot less work then dwc. IMO it was worth the extra time learning the curve and the $$$ for new toys. I try to grow as quick as possible , as much as possible , as cheap as possible, all while maintaing quality and appeal. I dont think I could do any better until I get different genetics with more yield potential . I have dna's reserva privada's strawberry banana coming soon , we will see how it goes :) BB

so i assume aero gets the job done the best when you say "I try to grow as quick as possible , as much as possible , as cheap as possible" and it does the job best and aero is what will get you an extra 1/8-1/4 per plant? thanks for the input man i appreciate it...i think aero is my calling lol. just hope sprayers don't get clogged every other day (like some people day) and the electric bill doesn't skyrocket from the pumps and the water chillers i assume I'm going to have to use

Just make sure you have the meds you need for a few months while your playing with aero. It didnt work for me for the first couple grows, I use technaflora's pura vida organic hydro nutrients and never had an issue with clogged foggers. My pump only runs when the mister's are on, 1 minute every 5, The chiller is just a dorm fridge I modified and it only runs about 4 months out of the year. My bill my has went up about 10 dollars a month during those 4 months, It actually went down about 25 dollars a month when I switched from DWC. If ya need any help feel free to hit me up , I might be able to assist you :) BB

I switched from basically a supercharged nft to spray heads and actually found that I had to raise nutrient levels so raising costs. I assume it would be the same for most flooded systems where nute uptake is achieved more efficiently. It was a small but still noticable increase. Fyi I use house and garden and also never had a clog, their pricey but seem to work very well with my well water.

Also, as it is a low pressure system, I am not really misting the roots as much as spraying them. For this reason I run the pump full time, I havent done a side by but have compared both and the plants seem to do better. Perhaps this helps with clogs but its all anecdotal and not true science lol. I would love to run a true aero setup (60 plus psig) buthaven't got around to setting it up. With the true misting (less than 5 microns) I'm sure its a whole different game.

really, run the pump 24/7 i know thats good to keep the sprayers from being clogged but i have heard its unnecessary. but I've decided i think I'm probably going to start with ebb & flow with rock wool using aerocloners for clones&veg the switch to 100% aero turning the f&d trays into aero/nft systems once i get the hang of it. sounds like a better plan, no?

yeah it is and i can setup a 6x6 tent in 2 hours maybe 4 hours with an ebbngrow bucket setup also gains vertical space. it makes it much easier for me to work with emptying and refilling adding nutes all of it is easier especially temp control. 70f degree res like thise so no need for a wasted chiller more electric i can use for more stages if you ask me :)

NO for that it is a fogponics handsdown although aero is very good i say more efficient then my ebb though, but not easier at all.as for the fogponics almost no water or nutes the roots dangle in the air only with fog rolling on them(the ppm is not needed near 1000ppm -1400ppm)now it is more like 400-500ppm. but very touchy needs time for anyone to perfect. another thing the more O2 in the roots equals more efficient plant growth. tutenkhamen 2011 spanabis cup from pyramid seeds was grown in fogponics and set the new record 33%thc for the tournament

you should invest a little time and try a mini fogponics i am trying it in the near future as for cheapness per harvest very interesting material on it

yeah I've looked into fogponics, i definitely wanna try it eventually once i master aeroponics but I'm just curious when you say your aero was more efficient then your ebb and flow, could you give me an example? like if how much more of a yield/speed would you say the aero is then the ebb&flow if you could put a % on it? because i was thinking ill probably start with f&d trays then use the trays/res to make a custom aero tray with a custom pvc spray system like this

my conclusion with aero is i waste less nute water than the ebb i waste about an extra 6 gallons a week
not faster by any means
but the ebb definitely gets bigger nugs and better yields per plant
i also have a dwc with only a half gallon nute wate per week that i believe is the best per g/kwh/cost efficient
but i like the ebb for bigger grows i can turn over a harvest (with my 740nm lights also) in as little as 31-36 days for a kush and fully done not early and blue dream/tutenkhamen/diesel are done in 45 days fully triched out

damn I'm surprised you say that about the ebb and flow, but I've decided I'm going with ebb and flow at first and if i decide to go aero i can just build custom sprayers with pvc and put it in the f&d trays
