I'm curious about whats in the glass jar, also, can you see the roots through the glass from the bottom? Did you just tape to the jar? Drainage? You have a very interesting setup, would like to see more about how you designed/built it. I think upside down cup may have a decent advantage with the wider bottom where the roots like to be heaviest.
roots are not "heaviest" on the bottom... Cord roots which are most dense start within the first couple inches of root growth. The upside down cup just provides a more stable base... In a party cup grow, roots take over the ENTIRE cup.... If the get stalled going down, the just come right back up, if you don't believe me, cover your medium for a week then see how many feeder roots are on the surface when you uncover it. You'll be amazed

Makes sense, it's hard to get a good pic under panels with lots of red than it comes out purple in the pictures my panel does the same thing, I've just gotta take pics out of the tent than one with them in there so everyone knows it's still growin under the same light!
Put a pair of method 7 glasses over the camera lense... way closer to white light for photo and plant diagnostic work.

Shh, that was the plan, but not until it's in full flower, hoping giving the extra root space at that time will be most beneficial.

update number 5 i think,
well one afghani turned out to be male so here are the two I got left.
Feed them, wtf, why are you letting competition plants starve. I'm feeding 1700PPM nutes, lol.

Going to be impossible to be organizer/host if you win the day before the next comp starts, 90 days is more realistic if the winner has to be next host/organizer.

So, here's my next weekly update:) Lots of growth this week, and even though I'm not sure if it was a good idea, I topped the girl for a second time. Here she is, nice and green and doing well:

Lol....say what! No glass jar in the pics! It's stainless with an acrylic lid,to raise it closer to the lights:)
I cut a thick piece of plastic to cover the top(now the bottom) of the cup and taped it on.I have slices down the sides of the cup for drainage.
Not being a smartass but What "setup" you talking about....my diy light fixture?I think the cups being upside down uses almost all the soil in the cup, otherwise right side up there's always a 1/4" or so of wasted soil at the top....and makes a more stable base:lol:

Update, Day 29

Declaration post

So they both showed their lady parts this week...yes, incredible luck, reg beans and all. It really was a roll of the dice, as both could have made great contestants, but going forward, my beauty in the pageant will be, Master Kaze #1. She was just a little larger, a little better developed, and had a slightly larger stalk...which are pretty much the reasons why I went with her.

She doesn't look all that hot right now because she has the braces on...I'm doing a bit of light bondage to get her growing out a bit too. Look how big she is already. Think I'm looking cool as a cuke at this point in the comp.

Tomorrow is going to be my declaration post, only one lady in the bunch. Think it's too late to reveg the males? I was hoping for one more girl...

Where is all the trash talk? I really need the people with big plants to start talking trash. Then I will be justified in talking trash in a week or two when mine get their turn to explode.
