Willow bark extract

Aspirin contains salicylates that are synthesized from willow bark, and willow bark tea can be used as a rooting compound. We have a big willow in our backyard so I'm going to try it.

what i do is cut willow sticks about 4inches long so they fit into a pot,then i run the pot to the side burner on the bq and boil for about 2 hours.the liquid has a brown color if boiled enough(dark)leave cool for 10-12 hours and soak rockwool cubes in it for clones.i also use root stimulant on the cutting before putting it in the rockwool cube.have had real good luck using this method!!!!

Willow Bark Extract ( very weak - aspirin ) is good for toughing up the plants immune system mostly - known as the SAR response . Some extra root growth happens regardless of how started, as long as the plant is still in the veg. stage. Seaweed extracts are very good for plants in veg., boost vigor, increase root mass and help keep plants on the shorter / wider side. I prefer seaweed over all others. Like quoted above it shifts the ratio of auxins to a more veggie side of the force.
Johnny-come-lately products like Bush Master (Humbolt Co.), that are way over priced are just seawead extracts at double strength - like Liquid Karma (great stuff) - is mostly unsulphured molasses. Both will drain your wallet, fast, both can be equaled with cheaper substitutes - like at Wormsway (www.wormsway.com) plenty of cheaper alternatives there, or search for Organic Fertilizer or Organic Tonic (Ebay) - if you find any made by Blue Mountain Organics - buy it. It's cheap & totally kicks...*ss..... The mychorrizal fungi in that stuff, will cause a plant in a 55 gallon barrel to get root bound.... Amazing - Hippie - Organics... & it's cheap..... Just proving more expensive is not always better....

I may bug you to pick your brains at a future date (so sayeth she, who ignores her own good advice). I've seriously damaged and killed several plants and I don't know if there's a way to revitalize them. There are others that aren't going to die, but will have large branches that were LSTd lost due to my actions.

in my guerrilla grow, what i did was break-up/powder one 350mg tablet and just barely put some of the powder on the top soil close to the stalk, i've noticed an extra 2 or 3 inches of growth since last i check my plants.

yea, the plant was healthy for the most part, but for a plant that's 7 weeks old and only being about 18 inches tall, those two or three inches were HUGE.

the plants also started to look a bit more frosty

Several. Many absolutely are dead, others may be close behind. I can hardly look them in their faces. I'll work on pix in a while, it's fucking HOT right now. They'd been showing chlorosis, and I hadn't been fertilizing them since May. So last week I started giving ferts, but they were not quite recovering and some of the yellowing was spreading (I fertilized VERY lightly). So, I gave 'em some more. Same (lack of) response. So, against my good judgment, because I knew it was too much water at least, I went ahead and gave just a few of the plants an extra pint or two of ferts, strong this time. That's when it happened, as each day passed, some plants just fell over and died, others have been showing a progressive burning. So, I flushed, even though they're not dried out sufficiently. They're not diggin' it.

Fortunately, I have another small set of seedlings going, but it's a small set and it's too late in the season to get another batch going for outdoor. Bummage, I feel like an ass because I knew better.

maybe a re-plant would help you plants, you check you pH levels recently? my advice woul dbe to flush each plant with 1 gallon minimum (if you can afford it).

i guess you don't have a digi cam, so all i can say without looking is good luck.

I did a flush yesterday on several of them, including one of my known females. They didn't like it at all. I may lose her now. I do have a camera, I'm just getting depressed looking at these plants I've killed. I only have a rudimentary pH meter (seriously cheap, but it's seriously all I can really afford right now), been keeping things in the high 6 to low 7 range. (sigh) Ok, I'll put up some pix. Actually, rather than completely hijack this guy's thread, I'm gonna link to a new thread I'll put up here in a few. I appreciate the efforts to help! If you guys really think I can save the plants photographed by replanting, I'll give it a try.

This thread is now of relevance to me. There are all sorts of herbal willow bark extracts out there these days. There purpose is not for fertilizer, but like any other herbal supplement like ginseng for energy, etc. I do not have the luxury of having a willow tree in my back yard to make willow water. I am looking into alternative ways of making my own cloning solution. Can anyone out there in the universe maybe help me figure out how much of a concentrated willow bark product like

The page says 28 drops would be the herbal equivalent to 400mg.
Someone said before on this thread a 250mg aspirin per gallon of water for a mist.
I am more trying to make a dipping solution.
Maybe I can just try one dropper in like 60ml of water and see what happens?
Anyone with any input would be much appreciated.
