Once this little cab got full i finished vegging in the flowering tent for another week and then put three of the smallest plants back in the veg chamber to wait their turn...Here is what it looked like in the flowering tent

here are some flowering pics, 5 plants total in there (3 big guys, 2 smaller ones)... right now after 3 weeks of flowering....2 of the plants only vegged for 2 weeks the other 3 vegged for about 5 weeks...

for my first grow and with LED's id say this is going great! what do you think?

thanks bond, i got 1 pineapple grenade, 1 g-13,1 skunk 101, and some sort of purple kush for the other 2...

i tell ya growing this shit is easy and fun! i got some much help just reading the threads here deciding on which soil, how to build cabinets, ventilation etc. luckily with these LEDs there is no heat so i just got to keep air moving.... i swear heat helps cause the odor and i have 0 odor control, just two little 6 in duct fans for exhaust and two passive intake holes at the bottom of the tent, and i am 5 weeks into flower and it really doesnt smell any worst than it did before i started growing lol nothing like my boy who uses HID

true, these LED's are some of the biggest bulbs out on the market, check out HAIGHT SOLID STATES web site...

I have seen people use the 1-3watt bulbs with more clustered in a area to get the desired wattage but the penetration isnt enough or the footprint isnt large enough. These are 6w bulbs, deep penetration yet a wide 140 degree lens to get a large even footprint even at just a few inches raised. Too many LED lights only really perform when the plant is DIRECTLY under it, not the case with these since they use the 140 degree lens instead of narrow beam.

i did a lot of research before buying this light, the fact that there are no fans makes the design so simple and hopefully this light will work as is with no replacement bulbs for 4-5 years or 50,000 hours.

thanks man, LED's are great i wouldn't grow any other way, no electric bill, no heat, less odor, less cost over time, less watering, and BETTER BUDS! Anyone who has smoked buds from under LED's knows the deal...they are way more potent i find. I believe it goes back to the fact that LED lights use all the usable spectrum's for plants unlike other forms of lighting where a large majority is wasted. We need more people to buy LED's so the demand and supply can rise and the price can lower....

These lights are attractive to indoor growers since they do not consume as much power, do not require ballasts, and produce a fraction of the heat of HID lamps. Plants transpire less under LED grow lights as a result of the reduction in heat and thus the time between watering cycles is longer.
There are four chlorophyll absorption peaks and LED grow lights use four different types of LEDs to hit all four peaks (two red and two blue).[3] Early LED grow lamps used hundreds of fractional watt LEDs and were not effective replacements for HID lamps. Newer advanced LED grow lamps use automotive grade 2-3 watt LEDs and have shown similar results to HID lamps.


^these lights im using have 6 watt bulbs! killing it....cant wait til there is just massive 20watt bulbs...

well you picked a good one to sub, these Haight Solid State lights are some of the cheapest lights on a per watt basis, nothing comes close for the price i could afford to get 2 of these lights for less than what one of the same total wattage would cost and now i can space them to provide even coverage vs one light that claims a large footprint....one thing i have learned is that every LED company says the footprint is much larger than it actually is....

these lights for the 180 watt are 420.00 on resellers web sites and 495.00 on the companies website...call Haight tho they have awesome support and will match their resellers prices.

here's some instructions for the guy who pm me on the cab i had made a other thread a while ago but nobody cared so i stopped checkin it.

Below are instructions for the little veg cab only! for flower i got a 4x4 grow tent with two 6 inch cheapo duct fans on top with two 6 inch openings at the bottom...inside two 180watt LED panels...

Here is the little veg cab easy to make and this works with cfls as well...



1. 2 x 45 gallon rubbermaid tubs 15.00 each = 30.00
2. black and white spray paint for plastic = 10.00
3. extension cord 3 prong, everyday use 16 gauge wire = 6.00
4. 5/16" hook screws, bolts, washers...
-4 hooks @ 1.00 each = 4.00
-8 bolts @ .25 each = 2.00
-8 washers @ .25 each = 2.00
5. 6" inline duct fan = 22.00
6. 2 x 2" pvc 90 degree elbows AND 2 x 2" pvc short pipes, 4" long. = 4.00 total
7. *Mylar = had some left over, if not a new roll is 20 bucks but will last a long time with a grow like this! UPDATE I SAID FUCK THE MYLAR, that shits garbage white walls are fine. spray paint them white.
8. wire connectors, duct tape, foil tape = had them laying around! (i do electrical work)

80.00 total for cab without light and plant material.

Step 1: spray paint bottoms of rubbermaids. first black and than white. This is so light doesn't get out the top and reflects off of the bottom. Why not spray the sides? because the Mylar will block light out/in. If you are not using Mylar i recommend spray painting the entire rubbermaid or else you will be glowing. remember first black and than white. You will not need the tops of the containers, see photo to understand.

Step 2: Inside the rubbermaids cover the sides with Mylar. If you dont have Mylar than spray paint it black and than white. The entire inside except the bottoms and than tape it with foil tape. Keep as little foil tape out of the inside of the rubbermaids, this will prevent hot spots. Turn on your lights in a dark room and put them in the tub, make sure no light leaks...

Step 3: use a drill or screw driver to put the hooks inside. You will have a bolt and washer on both sides on the rubbermaid, outside and inside...These hooks will be used to hold your lights....you can use any lights with this grow design!

Step 4: This is for your fan/exhaust...with an exacto knife or sharp knife, cut a 6" hole in the bottom (actually your top) trace your fan for an even cut!

Step 5:
At opposite bottom corners cut two inch holes on the rubbermaid that doesn't have the fan hole in it! This is for your passive intake!

Step 6: grab your extension cord, cut the female end off. This is the end where you would plug devices into, NOT the side you plug into the wall, that's the male. strip the coating around the wires. There will be three wires. Green, black, white....most extension cords have green wires and the other two are usually black, that's fine.

Step 7: take fan wires, green black and white, and connect them to the extension cord wires. You will need to strip the wires of the extension cord. Its a good idea to have the same amount of wire showing on both the fan and extension cord. You will see the middle cord is usually the ground, or green. Typically the two other wires besides the ground will not be marked. If your extension cord is not marked its ok to connect the wires from your extension cord to any of them. So to conclude: your green fan wire should be connected to the green extension cord wire, this is your ground. the others can connect to either.

Step 8: Use wire connectors/caps/ to connect wires together. Make sure no wires are exposed and they are all inside the wire caps. Its a good idea to secure your wires with electrical tape after...this stops the wires from pulling apart.

Step 9: place your fan in the hole! the air should be blowing straight up! I wrapped a shirt around the outside of my fan and taped it with duck tape so it sits on top of the grow box and i can remove it and look inside, adjust lights....etc! To prevent light from getting in you can add duct work so the light doesn't get inside! I will be doing this once i am off 24/7 veg cycle.

Step 10: put PVC pipes together and secure them with duck tape or glue...
There is another on the other side! 2 x 2" intakes!

Step 11: figure out your lights and get some plants in this bitch!

You can do many different variations and what i have learned is that there is NO right way!

FYI:

I use a 6 inch exhaust fan and 2 x 2inch holes for passive intakes. 4 inches total of intake. There is negative pressure created since my exhaust is bigger than the intake. The fan pushes more air out than it is pulling in so there is constant air flow being brought in and out quickly. If my intake holes were greater than the 6 inches of exhaust, i would have a hard time keeping the air moving out! This also prevents air/odor from leaking out the bottom. You can see in the pic below the lighter flame is being sucked in!


Once the smell kicks in and i go to flower i will use Duct Work and make a DIY carbon filter. This will be connected to the fan, the fan will stay in the same position. I will be sucking air out of the cab and pushing it through the filter into my bedroom!

The girls are looking nice under those leds...but 420.00 danm...this is whats keeping people from using the good leds...when they get 200.00 or less for the good ones you will see alot more grows with them...plus rep for nice grow....

lol hell yeah the led lights are awesome, they sell LED lights for just normal replacement lights for your regular lights at homes...makes shit look cool and same principal, last forever and use 0 energy...
