YYC Grows yellow plants :-(

@SatIndy, I dont blame anyone for a bit of apprehension when it comes to grow room security. As far as low night time temps what sort of light schedule are you running? Perhaps run the lights in the night time if possible? Do you have a grow journal I can follow?

My old sunbeam mister doesn't seem to have very good control of humidity levels. It's either a desert in the tent or a rain forest. The rise in humidity is great for the plants, I'll just have to get a new humidity controller (ink-bird) or use a different humidifier. Here is a picture from just before lights out last night.

Good day, Sir. Yeah, good point about the lights. They're on 18/6 w/ 6 being at night. I'm going to look into a little heater w/ digital thermostat to keep them warm at night. Yours are looking good though, just figure out that humidity and you're good to go ;-) I mean, that's the way I've been doing it - getting more stuff as I need it and going from there. Then onto to the next challenge.

Sure, now that I'm recognized as a legit person around here (woohoo! Thanks Sunni), I could do that journal. I'm struggling with shit seeds though, really. Bad news, and not even sure what tf to do anymore. Not going to abandon what I have going b/c I just can't give up now, and I don't murder any plants that are trying to live, lol. Plus, it's a good way to get the kinks worked out before finding some better ones. I may just flip my Info page to a journal, for kicks. But seriously? They are nothing to write home about, let alone here. Kind of disappointed, but trying to look at the bigger picture.

Idk, my cat seems to like the leaves. He tries to break into the tent all sneaky-like. So I had to rig up a bell by a vent, haha. But that was after I found him having a snack in there, lol... without glasses! I was more worried about his eyes. It's weird. Usually cats throw up after eating leaves or grass, but not this. He just runs up & down the stairs before chilling in the bathroom sink. These seeds are high in CBD (yay, "not") so maybe it makes him feel better. :weed: I may have to grow him one of his own.

Thanks myke, I'll keep watch on the tent temperatures.

Day 8 I gave them a light feeding, starting ec of .4 with a final of 1.0 maxibloom
Day 10 fed the remainder of the nutes from day 8
Day 13 start .4ec / pH 7.5 added Maxigro & pH down for total of .9ec 5.9pH
Day 15 Ph water only
Day 17 plants look hungry? start .4ec / pH 7.5 added Maxigro & pH down for total of 2.3ec 5.9pH

Hey Pain... what are those decimal numbers with 'ec' - and what do they mean?

oh wow... I expect a Master's Degree in something-or-other after all this, lol. That looks kind of important.

Seriously lmao though - b/c I thought I recognized that country code in the phone #. And, indeed, it's made in my home!
Glad I asked, eh? Proud of that place ;-) Thanks so much for that link. :bigjoint:

Rather than a heater could you run your light 24 hours a day for a bit and then change back to your 18/6 with the 6 being in the warmest part of the day? Not sure if that would cause hermaphrodite plants or not. I understand not wanting to post the results of a grow that is trending towards an early demise. My last grow was like that. If I had posted a grow journal perhaps I would have saved a chunk of cash and had a better harvest. My last grow was going yellow worse than this one and I tried to fix it myself. If I had posted about it I'm sure things would have turned out better. Last time I kicked my autos from the tent and put them on a sunny window ledge. The plants started to improve a bit and that is when my cats took notice of the plants. Hydroten pebbles on top of the dirt took care of the digging. A few weeks later she decided to start snacking on my plant. She promptly puked the pot leaves in a soggy mess all over the bed ... Delightful. We started closing the door so she couldn't get to the plant but it got left open by accident. The plants were doing ok and starting to get heavy with bud weight. That is when my loving cat tried grabbing a leaf higher up on the plant and managed to flatten both plants. The stems were touching the side of the pot so I had to use sticks to prop the stems up. Both plants made it to harvest but weren't great.

Hey :) I started a journal, of sorts! And I *will* post pics. They're not so bad, and they are what they are. Maybe they will help someone. Just thankful I'm not freaking out about losing invested money in seeds, lol.

btw, hilarious story about your cat - but not the flattened plants. It's like they can't help themselves :weed: Not sure about switching to a full night for various reasons, but read that a heating mat would work, which I could use anyway?

hehehe, looks like Floyd was having fun! At least he/she has lots of hair to cover up the bald spot from cutting the sticky strips from fur. Hard to get mad at my cat for the flattened plants as I knew she would go after them and I was the one who forgot to shut the door. I was happy that Kaos was ok and not sick from eating a bunch of weed.

That is my little know technique of not being able count without my fingers :-) I started a couple of plants a few days later than the first four. I'm surprised you noticed a good catch!
6 could get a little cramped in a 1x1m tent, if you let them fully veg. Were they regs, so you're expecting to have a couple males? Looking good btw! In addition to sticky traps, I like to spray my soil with some neem/rosemary oil every once in a while to help with the fungus gnats too. If you think your soil is bad, you can bake/microwave it before using it to kill the eggs. Then you need to add bennies, but helps with stowaways.

I like that spray oil idea for any plants, thanks. Kinda butting in, but what are bennies?

She's silver! Really pretty girl... :)
Yeah, Floyd won't miss any hair. He just waltzed around like everything was cool.
How's that humidity working out for you? And how do you keep your plants warm? I've been up all night because the damn timer stopped working. It's gonna be a long day...

Hi CHG, ya I'm expecting some males. I think one of the plants is dieing anyway as it looks very rough. I was hoping to have 4 girls to flower. I've heard of neem oil but never rosemary for stopping the gnats. I'll have to try the oil if they get worse, thanks. I'm using promix HP which always seems to have gnats, not a biggie imo.

I think the new humidity levels are helping the plants. I'm turning the mister off at lights off so the humidity drops but comes back up with lights on. I figure that way things get to dry out a bit and lessen my chances of mould or mildew. As far as keeping the plants warm at night I've got the tent sitting about a foot off the basement floor, they dont seem to go below 18c. If they were on the concrete I would most likely use a heating mat to keep the soil warm.

Good day :) Funny you say that, because those stupid gnats were in the original soil I had lying around from outside last Summer too. I love gardening, and have never seen them make a home in the bag of soil before. But I never really planned any of this (which is quite obvious), so just used what I had in the beginning. I don't see any more though, since repotting them in something else. It's all out war on those things, they "bug" me a lot, haha.

What is that strain you have? And where can a person get Cdn seeds? I'm a little discouraged, so see no harm in starting some more with what I know now. Thanks :)

The seeds I'm growing are Kashmir kush and blueberry. Just don't ask which plant is which, doh! :dunce:.

https://vancouverseedbank.ca/ is a seed bank that I know has been around a long time. Seedbank.com is another I've used with good success. Both are Canadian and out of BC. I know seedking tends to have half off sales a couple of times a year. There are many more places to buy seeds from in Canada I'm sure. If you were closer to town I'd give you a few. Those 1/2 price seed sales tend to make a guy buy a few to many, lol.

Here is a link to cdn suppliers, it had more info for ya.

haha, if you know the traits will you be able to figure them out?

Hey, thanks for the info. Nice offer, not taken lightly. I make it into town once a month, or so...
