Yield Increase Thread

Questions
what is ScRoG?
what is LST?
does hydro really improve yield?
what are the perfect growing conditions for hard indicas like Purple Kush and Bubba Kush, and then what are the differences for sativa's?
Scrog is Screen of Green. Its like someone else described above. You weave your plants into a screen exposing more budsite to the lite and in the end you end with a screen filled with buds.

Lst is Low Stress Training. You begin by bending your plant over to change growth hormones. You continue to bend the stem and branches around the pot to keep even growth.

Theres debate on which style is better. I myself will be trying Lst on my upcoming grow.

Yes, UV light is for trichrome production, not yield increase. And i have been part of threads about this topic many times. I actually have a 600w UV bulb for the last week of flower. It makes things more crystally, but may cost some yield, so its a toss up what you want.

yota - what kind of 600w uv bulb are you talking about? you dont run the uv lights with the HIDs?
Well it is a special bulb from sunpulse. A pulse start. it's the 10k one i believe. Even if people dont want to try their bulbs, i would love it if some people grabbed the 10k UV one, id love to get some more opinions on it. I also found some interesting threads about the bulbs too if you search around you can find em. Here's the makers sites.

And here is something else i found. Last time i posted about this bulb, like a year ago, it stirred up a lot of shit lol

I thought you might be interested to hear this info on Sunpulse. They've been working on these since 1999!

These are nothing to do with "Sun Master" - these bulbs are totally new - they have been engineered right from square one, designed for horticulture - not a re-packaged street-lamp!

I believe they are releasing 4 types of Pulse Start Metal Halide (PSMH) bulbs in the UK.

3K, 4K, 6.5K and 10K.

4K is for seedlings / cuttings and for last week of veg.
6.5K is for the majority of veg.
3K is for flowering.
10K is for the last week or so of flowering.

It's the 10K bulb that's going to cause the biggest stir.

The 10K bulb has lots of UV. It's basically a "death ray" which causes the plant to stress and produce lots of resin.
Resin is basically nature's sun screen. UV fluro tubes don't have the same effect because they are not powerful enough to get UV incident energy to the leaf.

I have spoken to growers in Canada who have used the 6.5K and 10K. These guys have been at it for 20 years, they know their genetics, and they were astounded
at the frostyness!

3. Co2 - You can find co2 bottles at petstores. Usually used for aquariums. But you can make your own co2 generator. Just mix these ingredients in a bottle: water, yeast, sugar. keep the bottle close to the plant. Change every 2 weeks. Note: don't forget to ventilate and to check temperatures, high co2 can cause a rise in temp of about 2-5 deg C if the room/closet is not well ventilated. Accelerates metabolism and can shorten the veg time and flowering time even by 1 week each.

Can u please be more specific? :) How to make it, how much yeast, water and sugar?? The boottle i suppose should be opened?? .... Is this necessery if i grow in a big room, not a closet?? I am talkin about my apartment room, 30 m2, well ventilated, fresh air from the window and balcony.

For Laze:

Using a 1l bottle with the neck cut out in order to assure maximum contact between water and air add about a full tablespoon of dry yeast and 2 full tablespoons of sugar and mix gently. This solution will produce co2 for some 2-3 weeks after which you have to change it/start a new one.

Well, one of these will produce enough co2 for 4-6 large plants, so I'd guess that 4-5 bottles scattered strategically in 30m2 is most satisfactory.

Forgot to add another tip on increasing yeald:

Enriching your water with oxygen - Buy a cheap air pump (typically used in aquariums) from your pet store. Let it bubble up your water for some 10-15 minutes before watering your plant. This will add an extra 20-30% oxygen to your water. Oxygen is vital for the microorganisms in your soil, that break down complex nutes into absorbable portions. This method really accelerates the plants growth.

This method goes hand in hand with another one (but I'm quite sure most everybody does this):

Use perlite - because perlite has a lot of little bumps and holes in it, it remains an excellent source of air for the soils microorganisms. Perlite can be found at any plant store or, if you really can't find it, most very cheap cat sand or whatever it's called (the stuff cats poop in) is actually perlite.

I'm sorry I keep forgetting stuff. In order to increase yeald I always try to figure out what are, biologically speaking, the ideal conditions for my plant. So here's another thing I recommend that will speed up your growth, not by much, but it still makes a difference (2-4 days)

Use lukewarm (25-35C) water - because in nature water sinks deep in the soil before it gets sucked back up by the roots, water tends to warm up a bit due to the earths warmth. Because the water is warm, the whole absorption process at the roots is accelerated. Lukewarm water will also cause your roots to stretch out more, deeper and further in your pot, so beware of root lock.
To obtain lukewarm water without a hassle, simply let your tapwater stay for 24h near a heat source. This is also useful in eliminating chlorine, which is essential when using tapwater, since chlorine is toxic to plants.

Another thing I like to do is to put something between my pot and the ground (i use 2x1 inch thick styrofoam boards), since the ground tends to be cold, thus slowing down root production. Roots always stretch towards a heat source. This may be useful information for those who like to clone. Putting your pot with a fresh clone on a heat source will always accelerate root formation.

That's another 2 cents from me.

^ thats good for soil... in hydro, you dont really want the water over 70F (21c) or you can get some problems like root rot or algae

Yes, true. Sorry I didn't mention. Lukewarm water is useful only in soil growth. I don't grow hydro, so take BloodShot420's word for it that it's not good in a hydro grow.

what about some suggested nutrients to increase yeild? For soil and hydro?
For soil growth:

Vegging - any nice organic nutes with a high Nitrogen concentration compared to Potassium and Phosphorus. I personally use 13-4-2. It's best to have a little P and K there, to avoid deficits.

Flowering - again, I prefer organic nutes. If you want your plant to still grow during flowering (this is especially indicated in growing 12/12 from seed) you should always have some N in your mix and a decent amount of P and K. I use 2.5-9-9. Even if you dont want your plant to grow more, you will still need some N in order to avoid deficits.

For hydro growth: ask someone else . I don't do hydro.

In my experience if you take care of the little things.....ph,watering schedule, light, ventilation etc the nutes you use become less of an issue. I always add a bit of "superthrive" to my solutions to ensure i'm getting most of the macronutes. Other than that I've used everything from cheap Shultz/M.G products to the expensive Advanced Nute line and like I said if i'm tending to the "mechanics" the food doesn't matter. People will tell me I'm full of shit buuuuuuuut.....Plant food is plant food is lant food. someone will post some technical shit about "organics" or "cleating" or how mollasses in and of itsself has increased thc content by 10%.......lol...... but just keep in mind you're growing a weed. good genetics=good weed. The bigger you let your babies veg the more you'll get. I only grow a few at a time bu It know for a fact that topping and supercropping both work and work well. I've topped a single plant as soooooo many times it looked like this.......tres' april may 15 029.jpg. Only just started with super cropping but the shit works.
Search the tags for "Super Cropping". Its amazing and works well for increase yield. Super cropping as a form of hight control (
1 2 3 ... Last Page) mr west............Check out the pics ...good stuff. Good luck
