Yield Increase Thread

Dear smokers

Im starting this thread to see all the information i can get on improving yield in anyway.

My first crop was one 1000w HPS bulb over 50 Purple Kush clones grown with only 100% organic fertilizer, flushed twice. Vegged for 2 weeks, flipped lights when plants were about 13 inches tall, final total dried weight around 18 ounces (although i over-dried and the bud was too crispy, lost some good weight).

I want to know now from you any methods to increase yield in any way. For the next show im going to use the same 1000w HPS but i am going to feed with the strongest fertilizers to yield the absolute most i can get.

I need to know what fertilizers to use, what micronutrients to add or foliare spray the increases leaves and internodes, certain pruning or harvest techniques to increase yield and potency, and chemical fertilizer or sugar or anything.

Let me know your thoughts!!

Except for good old organic ferts, the secret to increasing your yealds is:

1. Molasses or black/brown sugar - the sugars will feed the bacteria in the soil that help break down nutes in order to be absorbed. Plus, the minerals contained in molasses/black sugar improve and accelerate the metabloism of the plant. Increased my personal yeald by 15-20%.

2. UV light - Apparently, cannabis produces trichomes in order to shield itself from UV light. The trichomes act like a lens and mirror, reflecting as much as possible of the UV light. Cannabis responds fastest to UVB and very little to UVA. UV lamps can be found in any petstore. They are used for lizard terrariums. I recommend a 10% UV lamp, working no more than 5 hours a day, preferably in the middle of the light cycle, and only after the first pistils have appeared. Increased my yeald by 10-13%, but drastically strenghened the potency.

3. Co2 - You can find co2 bottles at petstores. Usually used for aquariums. But you can make your own co2 generator. Just mix these ingredients in a bottle: water, yeast, sugar. keep the bottle close to the plant. Change every 2 weeks. Note: don't forget to ventilate and to check temperatures, high co2 can cause a rise in temp of about 2-5 deg C if the room/closet is not well ventilated. Accelerates metabolism and can shorten the veg time and flowering time even by 1 week each.

Well, that's my 2 cents. Looking forward to some some other advice from my fellow growers.

i have heard that if you get some coca cola and soak all your buds in the coke and then let them dry, the sugar of the coca cola stays in the weedd, and it looks like crystals and it adds about 30% weight. That is only good if you are trying to sell it of course. and it doesnt make the bud less potent of anythng.

You could also veg a littlitle longer and when you go to flower use Co2, plants love extra Co2!!!!!

CRAZY !!!! glad i dont live your way i would hate to be smoking that ... lol all i can say m8 you gotta remember less is more in flower stage 50 is all good under 1 light while under veg on 12,s i would only put 12 plants under 1 x1000w but thats me ......... but its all about the place you have ... if its in a big place try putting maylar walls up around your plant for better light (about 1foot away from your plants)

anyone heard of cropping the top buds before the bottom and letting them grow an extra week for more yield/potency? Lemme know

And another questoin. My room is 5x5x10 (10 high) all walls covered with white visqueen plastic. I did sea of green last time (SoG) with 50 small plants in half-gallon square pots, vegging them only to 12 inches. Would less plants vegged for longer (1.5 months, say 15 plants) potentially get a better yield or less of a yield? I have room to grow vertically but can get caught easily with overcrowding, and since im growing indica's they will get quite bushy and not as tall. Lemme know what you think!!

and does anyone actually use UV lights??
I have heard of many folks using them. Using UVB lamps is really not that hard. The little extra work in buying and setting up is very well rewarded. I recommend all indoor growers to
try it just once and see for themselves.

UV light is supposedly for chemical production in the trichomes.... or it makes the plant create more resin.

Want bigger yields?.....

1 - genetics: gotta have the potential
2 - hydro: some systems are better than others; I recommend Hydroton or lava rock
3 - CO2: Duh!
4 - perfect conditions for your individual pheno

supercrop them in 3rd week of veg for video type suppercropping on youtube

it works a treat many top end buds be very careful though you need the nack to do it
Yeah man super cropping is amazing. Scared the hell outta me initially but realized how resilient and how strong these babies react to the proper "stress".

best way for more yield is more light, of course...

other than that - my favorite thing to do is to use a screen, and fewer, larger plants... you weave the buds into the screen so the canopy is pure buds, and evenly lit... it works great for me.... although anything over 16oz per 1KW is doing pretty good.

Good info. Looks like we can conclude with these factors so far to improve yield.
1. Heavy light well reflected
2. Lots of CO2 during flowering
3. Pruning lower branches/leaves
4. Extra UVB light added to garden (especially for the potency aspect)
5. Adding Molasses/Sugres
6. Topping or Supercropping your plants
7. Sea of Green(SoG) growing style ( in my opinion )
8. Good fertilizer, careful not to over fertilize as this slows production.
9. Maintaining proper pH and concise plant maintenance

Questions
what is ScRoG?
what is LST?
does hydro really improve yield?
what are the perfect growing conditions for hard indicas like Purple Kush and Bubba Kush, and then what are the differences for sativa's?
