Worried About My Jars

I've done the search and read 20 threads on this, but I can't help but worry. I need some reassurance at this point. It was my first grow, and It still smells like grass bad! They're not really getting as moist anymore in between burps. I've done it on a reg schedule, in the dark, after dry in a dark closet. Please tell me I'm just freakin' over nothing people, and that it's gonna change. It's been 8 days.:?

hey man heard that when in doubt, just try to smoke it. If its not harsh and it breaks down nice but not too dry that means its great :) if not just break a little bud up and show it online and prob someone here can tell you whats wrong :joint:

hey anuntavis, not to worry- on my last round it took 3 weeks for that dank smell to come back, it will. also, try waiting longer in between burps, if u say its not as moist, try to burp every day and a half-2 days, ALWAYS checking for mold, give it time that smell will come back dank as ever

I was thinking about extending the time between burps...thanks for the advice. To me the smell and taste are as much a part of it as the high. I will be so disappointed if it doesn't return.

Were they ready to be harvested? Not by any means doubting or downing your skills my man.I have had that a few times after harvest, had to blow out of town and they dried to fast along with having to be harvested about 2 wks early.Really disappointing, did everything i could to get that aroma to set back in but had gone.If dried properly and harvested when it's time....they should never lose their smell. After about 4-5 days in the jars, dont break the seal so often. every 2-3 days is what works for me.All the while when you get a few mins. just take a visual for mold, but if dried properly, initially, should never have that problem.DOnt get all antsy and keep checkn every day to see if the smell returns, just lettem' "simmer"......in just a little time they will do exactly what they are supposed to..........

On some strains I run, it can take a month for that grassy smell to go away. Don't worry too much, just keep checking for mold and burping as usual.

You should be fine ;)

All that chlorophyl has to break down....closer to mature date...less chlorophyl and the better the dry, smell, color, and potency.Starches -2- sugars...

I have found that if it was dried to fast chances of getting the smell back is very slim.........How long are u drying before u jar it? I have had this problem with harvesting before

I used a scope and checked the trichs...they were all cloudy and some amber. The strain was unknown. I think it was some Kush, but couldn't swear by it. I saved some seeds from some kush I got a hold of, and thought thats what i sprouted. it had been flowering since the weekend before halloween and I chopped on new yrs day.

I tried cracking a stem last night and they still bend. The stems leave an incredible smell on my fingers, but the buds not so much...lol.

i had this same problem. what i did was put the buds back to dry for a day. they got really crispy but once i put them back in the mason jars it started to regain its moisture again. i've had it in the jars now for 5 days and each day the taste and the look of it gets better and better.

I left the jars open for several hours one night last week. Like 4 or 5 hours. I've been lessening the time open and amount of times burped because they seem to not be as moist anymore. I don't think letting them dry more will help. i didn't open today just to see if they are more moist with less burping.

Dark, 55-59' temp,4" fan gently circulating and bouncing of the wall back atem',dry to the touch, gentle squeeze and they should return slightly to their original state, and the stem has a nice clean snap.Manicure, lay it out for 24hrs. more and then cannem'......heaven...

Get some hygrometers to put in your jars. You'll know when to burp then instead of guessing.

on a better note...the branch that I clipped a week early, gave up on curing, and just threw in a zip lock bag now smells like pot. harsh, but smells faintly like pot. I burped last nite for 45 min. the jars were slick on inside walls so at least I know they are still releases water. gonna let em sit for a couple and days and recheck.

cutting back on the watering cycles before harvesting will greatly decrease your cure time, and with ending up with sweet aroma. They will also dry quicker when they are hung, so gotta watch the humidity in your dry room.Dont let em me to dry before you are aware of where they are at as far as drying.I always cut back seriously on the H2O a week or so beforw watering, along with dwindling ppm's of nutes.
