Hey Rusty, thanks for the response man. So you dont use CalMag at all with the CNS17 line? I was wondering if you use RO water or not? Also thanks for your feedback on the res. I have a pretty big garden (not weed) out back and even though its winter there are a lot of pests where I am. I appreciate your feedback on the perlite res and the fungus gnats because I am very worried about insects in this grow and that could make a huge difference.. I read that since coco is soilless its a better deterrent against insects but I dont really know the extent of that. If anyone has experience or input on that it would be pretty awesome.

thanks again everyone. take it easy

@mag ditty . I'm pretty sure it's a coco specific blend of nutes so they include the cal-mag in with their base nutes, sort of how dyna gro does it, but with more just for coco users

if you're really curious. take your cal mag bottle and compare it to your csn line bottles, and you'll see the cal-mag is in at least one of them

Yes, I also use RO Water, and still no CalMag needed. I still have my quart container of CalMag, its just been sitting for about a year now.

I grow indoors and Fungus Gnats LOVE Coco.. So I top my Coco with a thick layer of Perlite to help keep them out, and also use some Larvicide in my mix. I did just pick up a flyer for a product called Gnat Nix that I might look into.. Its apparently made by Growstone and looks like a Top Dressing as well.. I think its just smaller growstones that are being spread along top like I am doing with the Perlite, but not sure if it has anything else as a pest deterrent.

Good luck with your grow,, Keep us posted!

YES, when you get Coco nutes, they pretty much load them up with Calmag cause they know the coco is gonna try and Zap much of that out,,, and apparently Botanicare has figured it out. I also get this bag of Coco hempy1.jpg ,,, I dont have to rinse it or prep it in any way.

Gentlemen: I am about to embark on my first Hempy journey. I have always been a DWC grower and have always enjoyed the results. The maintenance can be a bit much until you get the process dialed-in, but I've always enjoyed it. However, I've always liked trying new ways of approaching this hobby and a recent power outage that thankfully did not last long enough to cause any issues has caused me to think that I need to have 50% of any current grow in a medium that doesn't require any pumps etc.

I've taken some clones of one of my current girls, G13 Blue Venom. I am going to select the best one and probably toss the rest (I hate doing this, but space constraints make this absolutely necessary) and try my hand at a 2 gal Hempy with a Perlite res in coco. I veg under T-5s and flower under 400w HPS. As soon as I have established roots on the clone, I will make it happen. Looking forward to bringing you all on the journey with me.

Another update. I left my clones way too long in the cloner. It may be a good thing or bad thing. I'll find out soon. I finally was able to do some work and flip them them to 12/12. 32 "over do,"clones under a 600 watter. I did a test run with the light and with my mini split a/c it stays constant at 75ish with 40 humidity in a 4x4 secret jardin tent without the need to air cool the light. So I guess no need for dehumidifier. Also my medium is a mixture of 2/3rds perlite 1/3 vermiculite. Pics suck so I'll take some more in a couple of days from there shock. This is my first time running canna nutes and I may have to use less because my ppm was at 1130 from following the nute schedule but if there isn't no sign of deficiency I'll follow the canna nute schedule at full strength.
Did they grow while in your cloner? They look really spindly and long, maybe just the angle of the picture...

Hey 'soil-cappers' - I am finally running one plant with a soil cap - BC Gods Bud in a plastic coffee can with a 1" FFOF soil cap - do those of you running soil caps find that it helps to better regulate evaporation of your rez? Seems like it has helped some in that regard. Does your soil cap ever dry out completely? Anyone have concerns of fungus gnats due to a soggy soil cap? Seems like the rez will always dry out before the cap will watering every 2 days...

Awesome fellas. Thanks for the heads up. That CalMag is expensive shit too. Will definitely look into gnat deterrent because I have already seen a couple around the house (i think) and my grow isnt even anything serious yet.
This thread is awesome.

Into week 9,...I posed the girls with a Newcastle. Moe would like that I'm sure......found some seeds in the lower popcorn on the test smoke...don't see a male flower anywhere. I'll save them for fun later.

The cap will slow evap. And yes the cap will dry out. If the cap is wet then the medium below is also moist. I've don't run containers that small, but I do wait until the top of the soil is dry. I'm sure with a larger container I have more time between soil being dry and the plant starting to wilt. So you'll have to watch the smaller container closer. The rez and cap will dry out near the same time, first the cap then the rez.

that Newcastle Brown Ale is for the Geordie folks north of the Tyne....I'm guessing Moe is a bit more south.

Yes they grew in the cloner because after they rooted I took out the tap water and put in a batch of nutes. It was my fault because at the time I was so busy at work I really didn't have time to do anything and I wasn't for sure what I wanted to do. Well next time around they will be growing from rooted clones with no veg time.

At day 50 in my 3 plant scrog. Got a bit too aggressive with the nute mix and the Cheese and A. Kush are looking seriously overferted. I am thinking I'll hit them with a dose of dry koolbloom and then look to flush around day 56.

Looks like the grow is progressing very well Shaggn. I know I couldn't maintain that many plants. Just too much hash to smoke.

I remember that you were rotating the bottles, but it looks like the girls on the edge are out preforming. I've seen this happen with my stationary plants.
