Ouch Steelie an ounce bud moldy..if there are parts that werent close i bet they will be fine but it was a great idea to isolate it just in case. I learned a trick from my cousin who grows hundreds of football sized buds outdoors....when you have a large bud growing at about week 5-6 either snip a little piece out of the center of it or take a toothpick (or whatever you have) and pry that bud open in the center and jam that toothpick in there. The trick and key part is leaving a gap on that cola so that there is more air getting in there and so that moisture doesnt build up. It works wonders.

When i was growing in the house that my avatar pic is from I grew 99 plants a pop and had large colas. Before i learned that trick a good 30% of them would have bud rot. That trick knocked it way down to about 5-10%.

hey moby, I've gotten to page 35 of this thread and think you guys may have made a convert of me.The watering would be alittle tough for me at times, but it would save me a lot of other troubles. My first run is going to be from seed, so it will be a couple of months before I can produce any clones.I'm going back to page 1.

Thanks Shiva, it is all starting to get very sticky n stinky!! Strain is KC Brains - Cristal Limit.

At some point I have to pick which ones to get rid of as i've started a bunch of beans due to what I thought was hermism earlier. Now I have way more than I can handle but luckily the season will be underway in a couple months. Jumped the gun when I should have waited to be sure lol. This pic will show what I mean haha.

View attachment 2577793 Everything in the left tray is a mix of an outdoor mix (from a friend) crossed with a male Amazon (breeder friend). Labeled BR phenos 3 and 4(purple) The right side of the other tray has some Swiss Cheese (Nirvana) and some Cristal Limit #3 (pinks) crosses from the first batch 3 years ago (profile pic). All the current phenos are from 3 years ago also. Just playing around with these for now. Plan on picking up some THC Bomb, GDP, and another one that I haven't decided on yet. Such a big list to choose from. Btw I only grow regs as I gave up on fems after most of mine going hermie (outdoors), incase anyone has any personal recommendations. Peace!!
Just pack them up and send them to me I got plenty of space for them...LOL.

Just finished putting my Critical Kush in jars. My huge top bud that I was excited about ended up being moldy in spots. Pretty bummed out, it weighed 24 1/2 grams dried. I pieced it out and tossed the bad parts. The ones that looked ok I put in a seperate jar, do you think they'll be ok or should I toss them too?

On a happier note, chopping my ch9 Jack tomorrow after work!

Shiva, make sure you at least stop by once in awhile. You would be missed.
You could have seperated the moldy buds and added them to the trim if you make any bubble hash, it would have been alright to do.

You can move to Cali where the humidity is 10-20% year round. I've never had mold to contend with, just other things :)

Thanks Shag,
On the lemon juice thing, have you ever tried vinegar? any preference? I've heard vinegar holds the pH longer and that may be preferable because I have a res. constantly bubbling that I draw on to make AACT batches as well as waterings and I've just been using powdered citric acid so far...I'm thinking pH too because it was after a 10 period when i couldn't get to the gals, so the res probably rebounded from 5.8 to 6.8-7.0ish for the later waterings, hence out of pH, hence twisty...

i guess the vinegar thing would be totally preferrential though since I'm going to be able to pH each watering from here on out...guess if it aint broke don't fix it yet, huh?

anyway thanks again,
be easy,

Thanx for your input.I like the hempy setup, but I cant water that frequently, I worry I wont have time to give them the proper care.
check out the "automatic watering system for hempy buckets" thread....it describes a system that is basically a sumbmersible pump with 1/4 black distribution tubing piped to staked bubbler heads. Use 1/4" tees to connect each bubbler head stake to the water supply line. So, for example, if you have 5 plants, you would fill up a big bucket with your water or nute solution (though, for what it sounds like you want, i'd go with CRF or TRF--or a combo of the two--like osmocote plus, or dynamate mater-magic. that way you'd just fill the res. with water and let the nutes in the medium do their thing), stick the pump in the bottom of the reservoir, run your distribution tubing to the first pot, snip it, connect a Tee, connect a little piece of distribution tubing (this is called a whip) to the 90 degree branch port on the Tee, connect the whip to your bubbler head stake, insert the stake into medium. Now, connect some more distribution tubing to the unused, straight port on the Tee. Use enough to get to the next pot and repeat the previous process until you get to your final plant. You can run the last distribution line straight to the last bubbler head stake. best of luck and keep on growin!

I was told and read that vinegar is better than lemon juice, it's basically old habits die hard lol. I've been using lemon juice since I began household farming and just haven't changed. Stuck in if it ain't broke!!
Although I have also read that Apple Cider Vinegar is the best to use and from some reports is even more stable than just plain white vinegar. I do plan on grabbing a jug soon and trying it out to see if it holds the ph stable for a longer period of time. My test would be off tho as I haven't used vinegar, may have to grab a bottle of white also just to see. Also to note, I hand feed and usually every 3 - 5 days max (2-3 in Hempy) (4-5 in Pro-mix). Haven't run a system with a rez so I wouldn't know if the lemon juice would be good as a ph down for that application. Peace!!

Can anyone recommend a good auto for the outdoor season? Looking for a stealthy auto with a good yield. Im debating between pineapple express and delicious seeds auto cheese candy but cant find too much info on them..
I grew out a Deliciuos Seeds "LA Diva" with a nice 3oz yield in coco hempy (berry cake smell), but Easy Ryder from the Joint Doctor kicked ass with 3.5oz yield and a nice sativa curve ball high (sour grape smell). Both were right at 36" heights however if you need a shorty.

La diva sounds interesting. Will look into it. What size bucket did you go with?

This is moreso directed at anyone whom has grown Autos in the great outdoors!! Was there any problems with herms and/or found beans at harvest time? May be interested in dropping a few in the ground this season. Personal experience only, Thx :)

Also got camera happy on a feed day, Enjoy!!

hey dr.j, I'm having trouble finding the thread you mentioned.the search gizmo on this site doesn't want me to look at it?Incidentally, moby, I knew guys who used wick systems , and they do work.I think its trial and error, like anything.they were very specific about the type and size of wick to different pot sizes.I'm not backsliding.I'm gonna try hempystyle. But wicks will work if you have the mind to do it.They still had to water once a week.
