With Democrats like these who needs Republicans?

You've done a great job of trying to convince me that debt isn't debt.
It isn't, dumbass. That's why they are classified legally as two completely different things. That's why you're upset: because you're too stupid to know the difference between the two.

When people signed up for those loans they signed up for them with that on their contract. In that regard, Taco meat is correct. I think the whole means of financing higher ed by ever increasing tuition and truly out of control costs is wrong. I think we should have a debate about writing off student loans and that this society would be better off if we as a society wrote off loans made for tuition and education expenses. I think long term we should maybe have a higher ed system filled with deserving students that get a free ride through college.

But the fact remains, they signed up for it. It's not up to them whether or not to honor the terms.
but it's up to me to pay it..

If you're lied to about the value of an investment, why should you be liable for paying for it?

Isn't that just fraud? People were lied to about the value of their mortgages, why should they be liable to cover the costs of a product they were legitimately sold on that turned out to be less valuable than they initially paid for? Same thing with student loans
bingo! lied to about many things Pada and because of it I received several years of a gated and they GAVE me $10k to LEAVE. all you need to do is read law and know how to apply. 'question everything'..couldn't be a truer statement:mrgreen:

know how to work the system.

'Trump University'.

You're sounding more right wing every day.

That's a good little establishment Democrat.
Show me where reputable public colleges lie to students about their prospects. If they give promises then I agree they are being fraudulent. That is happening in private colleges like University of Phoenix. Is that what you are whining about? If so, then you have a point but not a good one.

There's also ways to accelerate paying it back that people seem to ignore.

A vast majority of people prefer to pay the absolute minimum and then wonder why so much interest accrues.

All debt like credit cards, buy now pay later, etc.
Somebody making around 30k isn't going to have the money to accelerate payments. Especially not if they have kids. I think we need to re-work how we finance education. I'm sympathetic to the plight of people who are making average wages and have high loans to pay off. I do agree that they signed off on the loans or according to @schuylaar , she did for a deadbeat kid. They had to know what the contract said.

Yeah, parents get into trouble when they cosign loans. Don't tell me you didn't know what you were doing at the time. Think of it as an early inheritance.

We need to make it free, the cost is paid back in multitudes from increased income tax receipts and reduced welfare dependency...

But until then, people need to pay their bills because the "current system" is funded that way.

Sure relief should be offered to people if the system changes but that's not how it works yet.

to a point. make it like they do in Europe. if you're very intelligent, you go to college. if not so smart, you go to trade schools.
but they should need to maintain attendance levels, good grades etc.
either way is win/win.

going in to the military is always an option. do some time and get out and go to school free too.

Thickstick posts so many words in response and they rarely have anything to do with what is said.

I was comparing credit card and student debt only in the sense that people tend to pay the absolute minimum and rack up big interest bills instead of writing a bit extra in the check every month.

And of course dipstick reads the words, doesn't understand how they're related and launches into a tirade.

You couldn't teach a dog to bark, you retard.
Awww lookie there. Personal attacks in response to serious discourse. And you wonder why I have no respect for you, Stinkydigit.

me too!

they paid me $15 bucks for some plasma and it only took 20 minutes of my time.
20 minutes is a third of an hour. 3x15=$45.

And I know people who donate. It takes an hour.

I know how much fun it is to pick on people, but you're the one who comes off looking smug and disrespectful.

I volunteered for the army at 18. They wouldn't take me for medical reasons.

Not everyone has the option.

Worse, the notion that getting ahead means literally risking your life is somehow a way up in America says something about just how bankrupt our country is for most of us.
