Wife on prescribed lithium says doesnt enjoy pot anymore...

I'm having trouble figuring out how she's feeling. Since she got on lithium she's had amnesia of almost all bad thoughts for the past 7 years or so and temporarily forgot almost everything since we've been together for 4 years. She used to smoke pot like crazy and has a herniated disc. The lithium is for bipolar type 2 mostly depressed until she got on the lithium.

Anyone who is on this(lithium) that can help me find a way for her to enjoy pot again? She says she doesn't like doing it alone and it makes her irridable. Is it just she might need a heavy indica? Or possibly a 50/50? I just don't want her to give up on it as it helps her pain and used to help her be happier and her anxiety.

You should try some easier ingestion methods....

Maybe it's not the HIGH that she doesn't like.... But the way she gets high....

Try cooking her some cannabutter, or some type of oil extract (olive oil, vegetable oil, coconut oil...pick the best one for your application)

You can cook the butter into cookies/brownies/ many other baked goods.... or she can use the oil directly on her skin as a moisturizer (i would recommend coconut oil for that, it's an amazing moisturizer.. $10 a jar though)

I would plan out a simple, relaxing day.... and ask her if she would like to join you in the relaxation - at this time talk to her about trying a VERY NATURAL cookie/brownie/piece of pie/ skin moisturizer..... give it an hour - two hours to kick in fully.... then she will have a good full body high for 5-6 hours at least.

I would stay away from the indicas.... My significant other isn't really a pothead, and can't handle a strong indica for more than 30 minutes before shes in the pantry or half asleep in the bed

I find for the novices, a sativa dominant hybrid is best.... It connects the body to the experience, and relaxes muscles/pain... but at the same time the Sativa keeps her alert and engaged, allowing her to enjoy herself under her own control!

Good luck :) I understand where your coming from! It's like, "Why don't you go the natural route for all your various aches and pains rather than taking those pills?" ... "I don't know, I just don't like it"

Now that you have me thinking, I need to make some edibles for my significant other

Awesome I was telling her we could make tinctures too with everclear and the potency of the thc vs alcohol prolly won't even taste the alcohol and figured might provide a more suttle high.

I guess part of it is like how nobody likes drinking alone its more of a social drug.

So does the coconut permiate the skin to allow it to act like a local?

Hell yeah the coconut oil is absorbed into the skin....

I accidentally got some poured on my hands, and just ended up rubbing it into my arms... and boy, I was trashed..... done for the day  was out cold 2 hours later

i use a double boiler, like the same pots you melt chocolate in... I put it on a low heat and add the herb into it for a little over an hour and strain it out/cool when your done then it's ready to go.

Let me get this strait. Simple canna-oil made with cocunut oil can be absorbed into the skin and used as a topical? Are topicals that simple, I always assumed it was much more complicated than that to be able to enjoy your herb through skin.

even canna butter will do that to you, theres like this old lady that makes canna butter, and in her video she warns against not using gloves cause she got way way to high from touching the butter or something along those lines..

might have been margarine

Using gloves is a waste though, I think... i mean im not sticking my hands in there or anything unsanitary but anything that gets on me is getting rubbed in either way..

nobody wants to rub cannabutter on their skin though  coconut oil is healthy, natural and really a good moisturizer for your skin.

The devil made lithium. Lithium is the modern politically correct lobotomy. I would say stop taking lithium. They diagnosed me as Manic and put me on that to slow my brain down, i did nothing but impair my hand eye coordination and make me see weird. I would suggest just smoking weed and staying away from lithium, it's not good stuff.

dunno, never tried lithium, smoke indicas (bipolar 2 rapid cycling, mostly depressed)

for me, what has helped most, was my wife and just ignoring the "bad thoughts"

when ya get depressed, everything is wrong, everything bad. i just started to ignore that and work on enhancing my happiness (did stuff i liked to do, didnt go out when i didnt feel like it, pampered myself bit,)

i turned it around, ignored the bad crap and started to force myself to think happy thoughts instead, always something thats nice, even if its really small.

about lithium

well, i just looked at richard dreyfuss (actor from jaws)

guy totally dissapeared for decades (he was on lithium)

and came back with a body that kinda looked messed up (like a old balloon)

plus i hear it kills all creative desire and im a musician, so hey.

If she has had such side effects from lithium, maybe she should reconsider taking it. Modern medicine (as far as psychology, and my opinion are concerned) tend to mask the symptoms, opposed to treating the underlying problem. People often repress and/or suppress trauma (whether sexual abuse, physical abuse, or mental abuse), along with various other traumas, and rarely does medication reverse that. The underlying problem (that is causing the bipolar / depression), is being "treated" by the Lithium. As in, on paper, her neurochemicals should appear "normal", although, I would assume that the depressed-thoughts and bipolar episodes continue?
If cannabis was making her happy, you would need to know:
1) Did it make her happy because it balanced something (probably a neurochemical)
or
2) Did it make her happy because she was able to escape from her problems?
She may be better off seeing a psychotherapist, or something along those lines, as medication does not sound to be helping her. Trying to find the root to the actual problem sounds more efficient than trying to mask symptomology. Taking up something like yoga, or meditation may help ease some of her anxiety and depression as well.
I am not a doctor, this is just my two cents.

I agree that you do need to keep balance in your mind, as in, not letting the bad thoughts control your life. Although, it may be beneficial that the OP's wife discuss some of the bad thoughts that she has.. something that leads to catharsis. Keeping something terrible pent up can really deteriorate your mentality.

Very true. Many people, without consciously realizing it, keep themselves in a depressed state of mind. Instead of seeing all the terrible things in life that make it suck, reinforce looking for positivity, as positive thoughts lead to positive feelings (and vise versa). When you are out looking for everything good and happy in your life, your life will eventually fill with good and happiness. Depression is a difficult habit to break, so always try to be positive and supportive (I know this can be hard at times, just remember what keeps you going as well).

Actually the lithium makes her feel. The other meds masked the emotions. The weed used to be used as a mask. She says weed now enhances whatever mood she's in...negative moods worsen happy moods get better
