Why is Eric Holder campaigning to restore voting rights for convicted felons?

is there any truth to this?? i hear this all of the time, but is it true that they only take jury duty applicants from the registered voters?? always been curious about that..
Varies from state to state and even within a state. Voting and driving are the main culprits.

yeah, that's pretty much what i came up with as well red.. one site said if you recently voted, your name moves up on the list, although i'm not sure how much truth was in that statement, but i read it on the internet, it's gotta be true, right?? :D

If it was on the internet, it must be true. The internet gods strike down all who lie.

Seriously, I was never called for jury duty until I registered to vote, but I wasn't 18 until then either. I've been called 4 times, but never selected, never even interviewed. But still had to miss a couple days work every time. I was called as a witness in a murder trial once, but the defendant plead out. Did they call me and tell me I didn't have to come in? Hell, no. Bastards.

You can be certain that Eric and his boss are doing it for some political purpose. I am sure he considers the political consequences every time he takes a dump.
I think you're right, like Obama's meeting today with all the democratic governors.
They want to push the democratic party in whatever way they can.

I've heard on the local news this meeting was to find nominees for the 2016 election to raising the minimum wage.

Never heard there was a fight but ..

Holder gets away with murder and Obama pardons him.

Why are democrats such a circus?

If you don't vote, your opinion doesn't count, literally.
Dude, in America to vote you may aswell just flip a coin.

Dont pick it up tho, cos both sides will be covered in shit.

As for Holder trying to restore voting rights for felons, it's probably cos most of them are "his people".

As in, der blerk.

You keep bringing that up, you have impure thoughts about black people you aren't telling us? It's ok to admit you're a recovering racist. Everyone should be allowed a change of perspective without people thinking badly of you. Even Mien Fur-her Obama is evolving that character trait too.

Seems to me that if you've paid your debt to society, any privileges taken away should be restored.

To Racerboy, the jury pool was expanded in most states from voter registration to just about anything they can get to increase the jury pool. Not enough registered voters. I know when I last lived in Georgia, they were allowed to call you every quarter too. You could serve jury duty 4 times a year in some counties there.

i'm not trying to argue or prove you wrong desert, but i was still curious and went ahead and googled it.. seems they take the pools from several sources, including voter reg. and drivers licenses ...

Jury Duty

Lists of Potential Jurors

Jurors names are selected at random from lists of registered voters and individuals who have a driver's license or identification card issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles. You are qualified for jury service if you:

Are a U.S. Citizen

Are 18 years or older

Have sufficient knowledge of the English language

Are a resident of the county that summoned you

Are not currently serving on a grand jury or trial jury

Are not under a conservatorship

Have no felony convictions

No worries. I make mistakes just like everybody else. I have been on juries a couple of times for trivial offenses. It was kind of boring, although I am sure the defendant didn't feel that way.

Jury duty is the punishment you get for voting.

Jury duty is an opportunity for good people to nullify bad law. Google jury nullification. If more people took cases where this no victim to trial there wouldn't be so many stupid laws.

If you think whatever politicians we elect have no effect on the future of this country, you haven't been paying attention. I will grant that Holder is a racist ("I didn't take this job to prosecute people of color"), but I believe he is more motivated by personal ambition than racism. He may desire to harm whites, but that doesn't mean he wants to help blacks.

Serving time doesn't mean you have paid your debt. Those you have wronged. have not been made whole. I think that phrase, "paid your debt to society", was made up by some con who thinks he has a "right" to be forgiven and trusted again. Felons are routinely dismissed from jury pools for "cause" by prosecutors and sometimes by the defense.

i bet she just sends all your files to the trash bin and transfers money from her account to yours.

you really are that horrible of a writer and a human being.
