UVAs (400 - 420nm) offset with deep reds, skipping the royal blues since you have 4K cobs already mixed in.
Okay to have uva on the whole 12 hours?
How many, or little, watts do I need to add in chromes and in what ratios of red:uv:cobs?

I will add either 3k or 4k's on the non chrome side to equalize the wattage output between the two..

Right now I have 12 vero 10's, 108w out of 150w on my 350ma driver. I would like to keep them all on the one.

Cost comparison will be calculated after everything is ordered. Efficiency and all.

Will be looking for differences in growth patterns- stretch, vigor, finishing time, trich production; product quality- potency, bag appeal, multi-patient testing.

Another note- is the use of far red for flower onset considered supplementation for cobs?

Everyone who is talking about adding mono's to their COB lights now it's time to see recent pics or else it didn't happen. We need to know what was the cost to add or make that light.
get off your high horse. I added monos i have my space and i had the money not everyone one needs to copy someone else or pay someone for nute applications why are you so bent on this?

I think what you are looking for is QER. That gives you photon count /PAR W for each different SPD curves. Alesh has done awesome work on this. Generally speaking the more blue the lower the QER will be.

So if you know total power dissipation, efficiency and QER, then you can compare photon counts (PPF).
How are those numbers arrived at from the information the manufacturers are providing?

yes run the UVAs in actinic range (400-420) for the whole day cycle. Shorter wavelengths UVAs such as 365/375 or even UVBs, then you need to limit exposure.

I'd balance 3:1 deep red : UVA(actinic), but that's where science becomes an art, cause nobody really knows.

1 to 3 deep red 20mm stars for each cob , maybe ?

I also supplement with far reds, mostly for Pr\Pfr effect.

Damn Brother Fran Where You been Hiding That biotch At????? :hump:

Actually that pic is from Jan this year. I just put in two plants into my new grow space so I figured you didn't want to see two plants just starting to flower. Plus I'm not using the Hans panels atm so the blurple/660nm content is down a bit :). Hopefully I'll have something nice to show later on in December.

Right now I'm running:
6 x Vero 18 3000K @ 900-1.05mA
2 x XNova 18 4000K @ 900mA
20 x Illumitex F3@580mA
So I'm a little white heavy this time and everything's actively cooled so not efficient really. Grew some Goji in my old setup that I thought came out fine. Grew another in the new grow space with the aforementioned setup and while density was down, yield was still good, (bigger pots I think), but quality was excellent. Smell taste and potency were definitely up. The above pic is a OSDxSour OG and I'll be growing it in my new setup next so hopefully l'll see if it comes out as well as it did last time. Shit stank to high heaven. Only time a neighbor said something to me about the smell of my place.

Right On Brother I'm Liking The Mix. Hey If You Ever Want To Get Rid Of A Hans Panel I Will Gladly Take 1 Off Your Hands. Now With The Above Lights In My 3x5 Will Be Getting Replaced By A Vero29 Cob Build. Its About Time I Replace Them They have Served Me Well :weed:

Actually the Hans are my new veg panels till they explode :). And I got that upgrade bug too. Probably in the spring. And monos will be involved goddammit LOL but definitely COB centric.

I Hear Ya The Panel On The Right Is Starting To Go South And I've Been Itching To Build Me A Cob With Some 730's.

You Know This Is What Irritates Me Is Not Only Do We Led'ers Have To Put Up With Shit From The Hid Side Of Things. Now It seems Some Of these Flipping Cob Growers Have No Fucking Clue And Were Getting Shit From Inside Our Own Community From These Clueless Assholes. Anyway Brother Keep It A Rocking I'm Done :weed:

Started reading this last thread last night, read through my coffee and morning dump.
So I'm going to say somethings...

How about those blue incandescent plant lights? I tried them a real long time ago but they didn't work. Think the blue tinted glass knocks the CRI lower than 100? Maybe that was the problem :-)

I can't wait until I can find a spectrometer for sale on alibabba .

Some ahole in marketing has already read this thread.

Does the dude working in Best Buy actually believe the garbage that just came out of his mouth?

Maybe the point is bag appeal. NASA, university studies... they are looking at making food, not rock hard nugs.

Efficiency? Isn't that when we upgrade from a window unit to a water chiller to keep things under 110 degrees? Happy people are taking it seriously and not going to argue against it.

Maybe there is room for art. I don't care how you feel about the canvas, it is my canvas and I want you to feel this way about it.

and lastly...

730nm led's at sunset in a greenhouse. I want to see.

oh, and good job at getting people to think. i don't see arguing, i see thought. not sure everyone is receptive. if you are not open to other thoughts then... ok, maybe this is debate and... i'm going to stop and go about my day.
