Why do I have burnt tips and what is this stuff growing at the bottom of the stalk?

I am having a problem with burnt tips, curling fan leaves, spots on some of the leaves, and something is growing at the bottom of the stem. Check out the pics and let me know if you can help. Please!!! I am running my cycle timer @ 1 min on and 20 min off. I was doing it at 1 min on and 5 min off but I noticed the leaves folding under and the burnt tips. The strains are AK47, Chronic, and Peak 19. Chronic seems to be the one having the problems. Does anybody have a cure for this? My ppms are 1900-2000. Ph is 5.88-6.00. Room temp is 73 degrees. Humidity is at 50%. Can anyone help? First time doing aero. Did hydro with lava rocks years ago.

the stuff @ the bottom of the stalk is the stem thickening. as a 1st time grower, i panicked too when i saw that but eventually it will spread and get thicker and longer and begin to ascend and reinforce the rest of the plant. How high are your lights? usually the edges of plants burn either from harsh (too strong) lighting, or, chemical damage from the nutrients. in my 1st set up, the nutes beneath my plant were bubbling so much that they were popping and damaging the leaves. you could probably solve this by just lowering the height of the nutrients. you have a cool lookin set up! hope this helps, good luck

:wall: Alright helps here dont trip..... Been through this with miy setup. First off u need to back off the nutes looks like fert burn! gets some clearex and ro or distilled water and flush ur girls good. if u dont want to use clearex due to personal pref, its cool jus use ro or distilled water only and flush them( ofcourse adjust ur ph).... If u use only water i would flush twice instead of just the once w/ clearex..... after that dial ur babies back in at about 1200ppm ( since u say ur at 1900-2000ppms rite now) and slowly raise it up every other feed by 50ppm and watch for signs of stress and u should b okay! BTW 1900-2000 ppms is extremely high! although i dont pretend to know whats best for your girls I do know that very few strain take ppms that high. AND WHEN THE DO, their is usually very high wattage lights ie 1000 hps/s in additon to C02 enrichment. In my humble opinion u may b a tab bit aggresive with ur nutes? Its ALWAYS better to undernute than over! But hey that my opnion and in no way to i mean offend. But really think its nute burn and should be better in a couple of days with thise advise. wish u contiued success Happy Growing!

i am using a 1000 watt hps and using co2. i don't believe it's mites, and have heard that by blasting co2 for an hour at about 10000ppm it should kill all bugs. do you think this is true? could the spots be anything else do you think? I never experienced any of these problems before when I used hydro and lava rocks.

:wall: okay yeah thats poss too. with c02 enrichment u can get spots like that. the more variables the more poss probs! Gotta provide all info for the best poss advice. However, with c02 enrichment there are strict guidelines to ppm, in addition to our little girls requiring NO C02 durring the night cycle! Do u have a regulator? are u using c02 at night? need to know this b4 i can feel confident with a reply. Sorry.

But u deff have nute burn and poss mites! And you want that stem to get as BEEFY as poss! the bigger the stem the more nutes can flow to the plant! the more nutes the more ppms the more buds yeild and harvest!!!!!!!!!! but gotta go wish u the best of luck! HAppy Growing!:bigjoint:

You have nute burn (back off the ppm's down to 1200, like mentioned before and work your way up) for sure. And I agree with the spider mite diagnosis as well. you'll need to get something like Bug Assassin, and kill those little bastards. They also make foggers now that will not hurt your plants available at most grow stores. You also need to determine how they got in to your room and put a stop to it asap!

One last observation that no one hit on, the reason the very tips of your fan leaves are brown, or burnt is probably dur to chlorine in your water. I'm guessing you are using tap water??? Anyways, that's a typical chloring sympton.

Good luck to you. I dig your set up!

Looks alot like nuiet burn. I would flush, back your ppm to 900 for a week or 2 them bring them back up to 1200. Looks like mites. Don't know what to do about that. I'm an indoor guy and have been blessed by never having them.
