Why are dj short genetics so expensive?

People are getting besides the point here

I stated in my very first post DJ HAS THE RIGHT TO CHARGE WHATEVEE HE WANTS supply and demand ...

2. Who's bitching ???? A consumer having a opinion and question is bitching ?? If u guys stopped just accepting things and asked questions maybe things would change ..

3. Don't justify djs prices by comparing him to anyone else that's bullshit ..we could do that all day ..compare and contrast all day but that's not what it about ..the question was aimed at getting a logical answer out to why his beans cost so much ..and the only real answer is SUPPLY AND DEMAND ..all that breeding blah blah is just that ..so what he's been doing it for yrs ..there's TONS of other breeders in it just a long not charging those prices ..

Don't get me wrong respect Dj for his work and what he did for the canna community ..but don't tell me to buy a Volvo of cannabis just bc they have been making it for urs and it's super safe ..I'd still rather buy a new BMW for less than that old ass Volvo any day ..

FYI ..it's agreed upon blueberry does better in crosses anyway ..

P.s.its a decent topic lets not getting any ruffled feathers ..cause Iike I said dj is doing pretty well and is not gonna lose any sleep over this ..once again dj can change whatever he wants ..but it would just be nice to kno why some seeds cost more than others ..with real evidence to support it ..I will be buying cocoa kush eventually buy can I kno why I'm gonna spend 135 on it lol

the part that really gets me from being a breeder is you can work your mother/fathers for 20yrs, release it for $100 even. Then the enemys/competition jiz throwers can copy, wreck, abuse your 20yrs of hard work for $3-$10 per seed. it doesnt matter vic high and every other prick rides your coat tails.

I share with sick ppl and the ppl i love but if i had to sell my 20yrs of hard work for $3 a seed to my enemys it would bother me. BOG is the best $50 and mr nic and dj are my pick for $50-$200.

The 10 sensi seeds i germinated 0/0 but those 3 breeders had 100% germination rate. I will never condone sensi prices

See I agree. With ur reason for not buying sensi seeds that's a LOGICAL reason with proof ..the beans just not worth it ..

Some people take the wrong approach with keeping there strains out of the enemy's hands ..
1.high pricing -but the big company's can afford it the smaller community of people cannot ..so they still win

2.makining it so cheap EVERYONE can afford it ..that's the approach that should be takin ..ie bodhi ,GG, yes ur enemy will still have it but what can be really do with beans u sell for 70$ ..makes compiled and sell for 50$ ?..u would have to be a silly customer to buy a knock off at 50$ when the orginal is 70$ ..and that's why people like bodhi sell and are hard to Knock off

yes sensi has suffered greatly from being forced to contract out production...used to well worth it ...not so much anymore

just like any business there are good solid ones and shady take the money and run types...

I would like to add that IMO the Spanish breeders are offering some of the best genetics available now and even shanti has them producing for him.

Look into these for quality genetics
be glad you did
Positronics
Cannabiogen
Ace Seeds
World of Seeds
you will be pleased

cali connection is good, the moral of this thread is to make up your own mind and make an informed decision based on research and not to follow someone elses advice blindly, because in reality ^ most of these posters are 12 yr old kids with no weed to smoke so they hop on these forums giving people advice so they feel more important, you can see the clues

with high post counts and minimal time on the forum you can easily see who's talking with duckspeak

seeds are expensive as hell cause you're not buying them from the breeder. retail price does not accuratly represent wholesale price ESPECIALLY in the cannabis world (or any world focused around the transfer of quasi legal goods). I'd say short might make $1 a bean if that. (Disclaimer didnt read page 3-8)

He most likely makes $5 a seed. When purchasing directly from him as a medical patient, he sells his packs for $50. Like others have said FACT, the Seedbank doubles the price of the seeds from their wholesale price point. What you're not taking into account is middlemen. DJ makes $50 per pack, distributor makes $25=$75 x 2= $150 DJ short packs from seed banks.

Big $$$$ goes to the breeders who get the hype on........$1 a bean is a fair price or $10 for a 10 pack

shit 1 plant produces 5000 beans or more if done right...if you get $5 for 1 bean.

$25K per plant.... try to make that in buds off 1 plant you need a 10 pound plant

even at $1 a bean you can still make bank off 1 plant

Yeah, a plant will not produce 5k viable seeds in most breeding situations. Especially the way DJ does his breeding.

Lol, did you really just say seeds should be $10 a pack?

$10 a pack of 10 .....Yes I did...:)

So how many beans does DJ get atleast 1-2 thousand per plant @ $5 per bean

even at that rate $5-10k per plant....im lucky to get a 2-4 oz bud per plant mabey $500-1000

Shit chargin $1 a bean you can still get $1000-2000 per plant.....how much profit do they need to make??

i guess one has to pay for a nice secure greenhouse from nature and theifs to realize the costs involved. buying land is normally $$. then you got the cost of growing, picking, packaging distributing. shit might want to pay urself and workers. the family needs a house and car. electricity doesn't grow on trees and neither does 5000 seeds on djs gear.

bud grown indoor in a crop only costs $2-3 a gram to grow

beans/seeds cost less per bean than that... try .25-50 cents

The breeders who get hyped are makin more money than most people who grow weed

Best we can do as consumers is find the phenos we want and clone them for the rest of our lifes :)

I am happy to pay 100 - 150 a pack from true breeders. I get what I expect without a damn pheno hunt. My time is important to me and I don't like wasting it on pollen chuckers gear.

You also have to take into account the seed crops that are deemed failures and thrown out. Real breeders will not sell that shit or give it to Attitude for freebie promotions. Growing the numbers needed several times before arriving at your intended goal costs money too. Real breeders will not sell generations of seeds until the strain is ready.

I am sure there are many other factors involved I don't know about. Why jump to conclusions? Go ahead and pollen chuck in a small tent and sell the results for cheap. More power to ya.

Look at what you get for dropping a few bucks on seeds. I get a few grand worth of weed and don't mind the minimal investment.
