so exactly how much quicker is the veg cycle in hydro? basically if its drastic like 2 weeks or something. i heard someone moved from veg to flowering in 10 days.

this is my first grow and im not really sure what i should do...i am about 6 weeks into flowering. the main cola continues to grow and about 50% of the hairs on the plant have turned orange. some tricomes are amber. all was going well except i just realized that my plant is a hermi. im not sure how long ago it turned. does this mean that the buds are now useless? what should i do?

It all depends on the grower and the environment but who ever told you they had a plant ready for flowering after 10 days from seed is talking B.S.
Soil can be just as fast as hydro but nobody can plant a seed and have it ready to flower in 10 days .

raw. thanks man you have been very helpful. the only thing i ask is if any hydro system will give you the same results as soil when using organic nutrients like fox farm liquid nutrients? cause im gonna grow over the summer back home and if it comes out good im gonna grow where i currently live (urban environment). i read that hydro is good for urban environment because its easier to get rid of the stuff, basically that getting rid of the soil would be a risk factor. back home i can get rid of the soil in my back yard.

No absoloutelly not if it has some good buds on it now You can chop it down now and it will be super strong smoke or keep it going and see how bad it gets. I had a nice hermie that did not show any hermie signs untill about 2 weeks from harvest and i decided to cut it down then dried it cured it and it was one of the most powerfull hitting plant i had. Just as good as my pure females.

yeah i cut a small, premature, piece of it down 3 days ago bc i thought it was ready (thats when i realized it was herm). i hung it for 2 days, jared it for 1 and just smoked it and its the highest ive been in a while off of just a couple hits...didnt know if i should keep the grow going. do you think i should cut all of it down? or just some and let the smaller ones on the bottom develope more?

You can get better stronger plants grown in soil. Just use organic nutes for flowering time as i do. Fox farms gear is garbage.
I use miracle grow for vegg but 100% organic dutch nutes for flowering.

No harm in seeing if the smaller buds develop more. Just dont throw away anything smokable and once its been cured for another 2 weeks or as time goes on it will start smelling lovely and be a nice smooth smoke.
(curing cures all).

do you think getting rid of the soil would be a risk factor or cause some suspicion if someone lives in an urban environment like ny?

No i live in the city centre and just dump it either in my garden or in my garden recycling bin. Nobody is going to think anything about someone dumping some soil in the trash. Stop being paranoid.

I should have started my own thread but i dont boast the point "ask me anything" and if anyone wishes to start a thread for newbie questions then i can back them up but this thread is all over the place. It was started by "streetlegal" then "riddeme" took over and i dont mind helping but it gives me little credit for doing so.

if i want to grow a small plant and i want it to flower as soon as possible.. could i just flower (switch to 12/12) as soon as i first sprouts?

I start in 4" pots (about 0.75 ltr) and transplant in to my final pots 8" (about 3-4 ltr)/ A growers rule of thumb is 1 gallon of soil per 12" of plant height but i grow 3ft tall plants no problem in my 8" pots.

yea i read somewhere that you get a foot of growth per gallon. how big do you let them get in 4 in pots before transplanting?
