I might also make the move north at the end of this lease even though I just moved here. Gonna go take a weekend trip to the bay area sometime in the next month or two and check it out.

yeah its all high desert to.. ima be moving to s.b. county thats why i ask
It's an armpit. There's a damn good reason that San Bern. county was the last to be developed. People only moved there when there was no other choice. Smog, traffic, meth....all the shit of So Cal is concentrated there. It'll be a perfect place for you.

Growers,

OK tourist guy its like this...

SoCal is vast...

LA County is the most HERB TOLERANT of ANY COUNTY in SoCal!

San Diego despises Med Pot and fights it endlessly!!!

Sorry bros but San Berdo & Riverside counties (the whole IE imho) SUCK ASS!!!

Its: poor, dirty, conservative, racist, backwards, hot, dusty, intolerant of herbs, etc...

Its where I drive thru on my way to Big Bear mnts or Las Vegas...

Really, the truth man is juss come here and experience it for yourself...

I live in San Fernando Valley, in LA County, in the City of LA...

Its: overcrowded, dirty, expensive, multilingual, liberal, and its been my home off and on since 1979!

Go to Ventura County its: clean, non ethnic, rich, and close to LA and very beautiful too...

Really depends on your finances, work, politics, interests, etc...

We have GUN CONTROL in all 58 counties in CA!

If as a Floridian you enjoy your gun rights do not move here!

Move to Arizona or Nevada where GUN RIGHTS are respected and they too have medical marijuana!!

Juss my humble opinion...

Good luck welcome to the zoo 40,000,000 visitors plus and counting...

WELCOME TO CALIFORNIA NOW GO HOME!!!

hhhaahhhhaaaaahhhaaaaa...

I agree with most of Kine's Ventura description except the non ethnic. He's talking of Conejo Valley...the Lilly White Ultra Conservative Suburbs of Ventura County that border The Valley. Further North, in Oxnard, the Latino Population is HUGE. This is mostly due to a massive agricultural industry in Oxnard, Santa Paula, and Fillmore. BTW, Santa Paula and Fillmore are semi rural, fairly cheap, and beautiful. Weather is mild all year long. Nobody has air conditioning in their homes and the winter can be beautiful and nice. Comparing Ventura County with San Bernadino County is like comparing a big red ripe strawberry to a big ripe steaming pile of dog shit. Keep in mind, the Ventura Coast is bordered on the south by Malibu and the north by Santa Barbara. Yet, the cost of living here is less than half of either one of those.

As far as outdoor growing goes, Fillmore and Santa Paula are right smack in the middle of what's known as the California Avacaldo Belt; a strip of land where the coastal plains meet the foothills, and avacaldos flourish. If there ever was a perfect all purpose growing climate, it's the Avacaldo Belt. Weed grows here like....well, like a weed. The late summer/early fall brings clear blue skies and the occasional dry Easterly wind. These combine to fight off powdery mildew in late season blooming strains. Remember, people grow in Humbolt for the privacy, not the climate. I would wager that there's no better climate in the world for growing weed than the Avacaldo Belt. There's not enough privacy to grow a thousand plant plot, but 5 or 6 monsters in the back yard make for a good Christmas!

Very tempted to break my lease even though we just moved here. It seems that we moved to the worse part of california (riverside county). From what I understand everyone says riverside county is not mmj friendly at all. Also the people here seem very hostile...i expected california to be so friendly. Collective since you live in that area im assuming its pretty mmj friendly and since over time I hope to have something as beautiful as your collective going...I don't think i'd feel safe doing it here.

I don't know why I read the previous 5 pages of descriptions with opinions of almost everything Southern California...
Firstly, several people told you to move around and check things out. BEST ADVICE; REALLY!
NOT ONE mention of San Jose. I moved here 22 years ago, after living 37 years in Chicago. San Jose is the third largest city in California (NOT "CALI"; only foreigners call it that name). San Jose has everything a much larger city has. I am 25 miles from the ocean (Santa Cruz). There are plenty of places to hear live (good) music and San Francisco (NOT FRISCO!) is only 50 miles away. So my point is that there are lot of places in Northern California to check out. Even the Central Coast (Monterey to San Luis Obispo to Santa Barbara) are choice, if I was thinking to move. Right now, Real Estate is at a 30+ year low, so I can see the attraction to buying a house right away. Some places haven't lost much value; others have gone down >50%! Mine lost 50% and then I lost it too. I don't think you can simply drive around to find that "special" place. It would take too long to make a real evaluation. Oh, San Jose IS MMJ tolerant. In the local "night life" type newspaper, there are 6-8 pages, both sides with 6 adds per side, of MMJ dispensaries listed. What a choice. Oh, and one last thing... you'll notice completely different vegetation; hummingbirds; Black Widows and a bunch more things a mid-western boy wasn't used too. Then there are a lot of pristine, vintage cars on the road, and great prices to boot. All in all, I have to agree that anywhere is good. ALSO, "rippers" are gonna' be there wherever you land. A friend of mine does 20 plants in the yard next door to his house (in the city of SJ) and has to have someone sleep outside with the ladies. He's been attempted several times in 2 years! Worst thing about California is that everything (except Avocados) cost a lot more!
Best of luck to you; I hope you find what you seek...

i appriciate the responses back!

as to the best advice being move down and search. ive been looking at some rooms to rent out on a month to month (or even a short term like 6 months) and what they are asking for as a monthly rent/pet fee i might as well be paying monthly for my own house. im trying to find somewhere where i can pay about 300-500 for a room on a month to month not 800-1200 for a room.

like i said above, i found some really nice houses in Ventura but now am doubting it since its not MMJ friendly. but would they really mess with me if im growing 4 plants indoors and 2 outdoors? also looking into san jose and santa cruz.

outta curiosity, which area in california can i live at where its nice summer/spring tempatures and i can travel a few hours to be near snow, beach, and hell maybe a desert? would that be considered around the LA region?

If you're just growing 6 plants....then you are good anywhere man. And i can drive an hour and a half in any direction and be in snow, beach or desert....but riverside county kind of sucks.

Growers,

Los Ganjales is the best spot for smoking, cultivating, distributing in SoCal!

Juss my humble opinion...:blsmoke:

Yeah, I live in the extreme northwest San Fernando Valley...

I am exactly 265 miles from my favorite Gun Store in Vegas!

I am less than 20 min from the junction of Pacific Coast Highway & Topanga Canyon...

I am 1.5 hrs from Wrightwood/Mnt High & 3 hrs from Big Bear Lake...

I am 45 min from Downtown...

I am 45 min from Santa Monica...

I can be anywhere in the SFV in 20 min...

I am 5 min from the PORN capital of America Chatsworth CA in SFV!!!

How can anyone recommend Modesto? Really? Super hot, super poor, super high crime rate, nice high gang rate to go along with it and pretty much nothing desirable.

Are you low budget? Chico is cheap along with the outlining areas of Sacramento. Have some bucks? Petaluma to Sonoma is nice along with Santa Cruz and that entire area. Further North is even nicer but more for the rustic type. Fort Bragg, Humbolt...

Can't speak for S Cali but I'd discourage Modesto.

well i would love to grow more then 6 plants but still be within the legal growing law. so if ventura is anal about it then ill just stick to 6 and call it a day. yeah someone else said riverside wasnt that great and they wanted to move. any other place near riverside thats better?

im guessing Los Ganjales means Los Angeles lol...doesnt sound bad where you live if you arent that far from all those. i was looking into Burbank which im guessing in Los Angeles county or is it Santa Clara county?

yeah modesto got crossed off the list. its most likely to hot for my liking and you telling me about crime rates, being super poor and gang, naaaah. like i said i want to buy a house in a good spot where theres enough for someone in their early 20s to do (besides grow :bigjoint:) but in a few years be able to settle down in and have a family. im now looking into Burbank though so if you or anyone else has their experience in this area please shed some light on cons or pros

Growers,

Yeah, brother I live in LA!

Where all your beautiful women eventually end up!!!

HHHHHaaaaaaaa...

Yes we have it made in LA...

Its a beautiful town!!!

Parts of it anyway...

We also have some pretty intense poverty & too many HARDCORE gangstas!!!

Or as I like to call em urban terrorists!!!

They fuck up my days way more than any Al Queda type ever will..

So yeah bro come to LA and this local will keep it REAL and honest...

YOU can not buy a decent home in the SFV for less than $500,000...

It is very expensive in LA..

Gas, food, rent, clothes, music, etc...

Cause its fucking LA!!!

We set the nations trends for better or worse IMHO...

That is why all the POOR people live in either projects (yes we have GHETTOS in the city of LA) even in the valley...

Or in the apartment buildings that cover the entire valley floor...

Its like islands of wealth in a sea of poverty!

But it still kicks ass...

I have lived in LA for 30 years now its like no other place else in America...

For us, growers & smokers, its the greatest place on earth!!!

I always said its better than Amsterdam...

N since they changed their liberal laws to draconian French style law the party across the pond is over for tourists one and all...

Fuck, even Don & Aaron, of DNA genetics, have moved back to the Golden state where they are thriving..

Damn, we have our own legendary breeders in the 818...

Swerve, Captain, Big D, etc...

So yeah irieite come here and experience LA cause its KINE!

Oh yeah, Burbank is close to me its in the 818...

It is its own City, incorporated in the County of LA, but still in the SFV in the far east end...

It is closer to downtown, Glendale, Pasadena...

Its clean, lots of movie studios & TV stations work from there, its pro GUN, but anti POT!

No storefront dispensaries in the city of Burbank...

But its on the border with North Hollywood where there are literally more than 50 storefronts to choose from so its no big deal to get meds if your not a grower...

Lots of people live in Burbank and then commute to work far away via our horribly congested freeways...

I told ya id be honest...
