Which lights do you think are better?

The 500w par lamp would increase canopy temps but both lamps would create the same amount of heat.
Can't think of the links on the top of my head, but i have read over & over that visible light actually cannot transfer 100% of its input back to heat after photosynthesis, its super close though so i see your point & would gladly read whatever you might want to show me.

I was looking and there is about a 11-20 degree (Fahrenheit) difference in heat between a 600watt HPS and a true 600w LED. Conditions most like apply as well.

he's got more than just a 200w vipar, thats like 1-1.5 ounce plants & looks like a 3x3 tent.
That's a few different plants and ONE Mars Hydro II 400 bro. Yes it is a 3x3 tent which I would be using 3, 200 watt lights that are supposedly better then that mars. I'm thinking I'm still gonna get the 3 lights and do what I planned on doing in the first place. Just researching the best environment for the plants. All I can afford is these lights and I know If I am doing fewer plants that I can pay more attention to them. Lighting is a huge deal, yea and I just need to dip my feet in. I don't know if I should go Auto or feminized. Auto plants are supposedly smaller, right?

Nobody really cares if you cant afford a big light, just use whatever you can afford in the proper footprint.

Damn man that looks great! So what do you think the best option would be? 5 plants for my setup? 3? 2? That's an amazing grow and it wasn't even done was it?

Thats not mine but yeah, it was pretty much done. Just giving you an example of what to expect when somebody tries to show you a pound of bud out a damn 3x3.

Yea I didn't realize they get so big. So is there a specific way I should set the lights up? Like a triangle or in a straight line? Since I'm using 3 and trying to get the optimal footprint that I can for what I'm using.

In a square tent/cab a triangle would probably provide the most spread.

I'm looking at the website, not sure where the review is. Link it and I'll take a look. If he's mapping the par footprint that would be useful information. Honestly though, I've already decided I don't like that company and wouldn't purchase from them. There is good reason for this attitude after years of people asking about these various brand cheap lamps. If they can't even bother to provide such basic information like how much light their lamp produces, there are other things wrong with the lamp besides poor efficiency. It's not 450w it's 200w and some of that is fans and driver loss, so output is around 165-170w. Efficiency is likely less than HPS so you'd be lucky to be getting 60 par watts from it. You would need 6 to replace a 1000w SE and it would end up using more electricity to run and cost more to purchase, so what's the point?

If you want to go LED check out Horticulture Lighting Group, Timber, and there are a few other companies that members here can mention. If you would consider DIY @CobKits can set you up. You will need a minimum of around 350-375 PAR watts from LED to properly light a 5x5. Anywhere between 375 and 500 would be good.

Nothing to show really. The more energy you have rolling off the top of the lamp, and less being radiated to the plant, the lower the leaf temps will be, all other things being equal but the energy is still all there. I don't know of a special law that prevents a photon from converting entirely to heat, but would be curious to know how that works. My understanding is that when a photon is absorbed by an atom it's converted to kinetic energy at the nuclear level and eventually radiated out as a photon in the IR range. The law of conservation suggests energy in = heat out. Teach me something new.

Had to edit my post, sounded pretty stupid after reading it again lol.

I think it get's converted into electrons stored in carbohydrates. I'm not sure how much of that would be released later as heat, but not much I guess. Not the best answer but that's all I got.

Good enough, That was my thinking also, along with photosynthesis probably taking some radiation away from the grow area which could possibly change temperature.

I can't post links so you would have to look the Hipagero up to figure it out. it actually has some pretty good reviews.
If you can't find proper specs for a light, it's because they are too embarrassing to publish!!! DO NOT believe amazon reviews!

Don't rush into buying, you may regret it later!
Do your research, start small and gain experience, then expand.

50 watts/square foot is good with HPS or cheap inefficient blurple LED.
30w/ft. is sufficient for LED with high efficacy, like HLG, Timber, Samsung and Bridgelux strips or COBs from Vero, Citizen, Luminus and Cree etc.
These numbers are for flowering, about half is needed for veg.

I've never seen anyone post a number or percentage, but I look at it this way, how many kilowatt hours can be stored in a plant?
Is weed the next revolution in battery technology? o_O

The plant is a load on the system, unless we're suggesting perpetual weed and new free energy?
