Oh I know. But they last for a run and then become part of the soil unlike nasty perlite which I hate.
I don't like perlite either. I like pumice or lava rock. Both are heavier but lava is extra heavy, lol. But I also like rice hulls. I mixed some in the soil years ago, and use it as a mulch layer. It's definitely good stuff and if it's only for one season Rock On.

I too hate perlite. It is dusty (wear a mask when handling) and being soft breaks down. Coarse vermiculite is my choice. Take advantage of the free shipping and get a giant bag. https://www.amleo.com/

Ordered goodies a couple of days ago which includes 50# of osmocote 15-9-12 which I'll use in my custom soil blend, along with the meals - blood and bone. Here's my items - UEE1 (mychorzzae), 159128 (Os), BM7 (bark growing mix), 3080 (snip shears). Normal flat freight shipping would have been $200 on that order!

This is very fine quality. https://www.amleo.com/berger-bark-growing-mix-3-cu-ft/p/BM7 I use it in my blends as a backfill in RootBuilder pots aka raised beds. Get off the high priced Fox Farms and such teat and save some money using quality products.

I use perlite cuz i dont want it to break down and vermiculite holds water too much.i cycle plants and soil like crazy, i dont throw that shit away like some (yeah you wanna see me angry? Tell me you throw soil away after 1 run) ...anyway perlite sticks around, recycle after recycle, so it saves me money....idk i need that in my application. Maybe there's a better approach but for now it's where im at.
The paint thing ill back up too, great call on anything Behr Premium Plus. I heard the flat was better but flat gets dirty and cant clean, reducing reflectivity, so minimum eggshell sheen, semi-gloss better.

1. The "new" Rolli banned me for my conservative views. Typical intolerant Twitter type censorship from the far left it twas. The "old" Rolli and I were good friends. He was open minded, accepted view points other than his own. We chatted often in the old days.

2. Every cannabis forum has a jerk who has stolen my old handle.

I really didn't mean to register here, actually thought I was at ICMag. That's what you have to look forward to when you get old - the "aw shit"s. Trust me, "the Golden Age" is bullshit. Take care of yourself which means a good diet, exercise, and having a good positive mental attitude.

If I do stick around here I have no plans to waste my time at your Politics forum. I doubt if anything has changed in 18 years at that place.

I just ran into Berger products at a local agricultural distributor. I stocked up on BM6 since it was $24 a bale, local grow shops are pushing Promix at $50-$60 a bale now.

The product is as good if not better than Promix. Last couple bales of Promix have had lots of big sticks in them.
I'm just finishing up my first run with BM6 and it went flawless. Plants stayed nice and green. Mix stayed buffered at a nice 6.1pH.

Look at the diode arrangement of the Vipar. The ends of the bars are increased in diodes to allow more perimeter PAR output. Both have a 3 year warranty, if that matters.

I also favor buying American, HLG.
I still have an HLG 300 I bought from them in 2017 that’s still going. Not a single broken diode on it. They are built well.

I reuse my soil for my vegetables and as a mulch on the garden. Perlite gives much needed drainage.

I went with Viparspectra KS5000 after weeks of research. This company has the right idea when it comes to outside distribution of the diodes. From the center to the sides/corners there's only a differential of about 105 PPFD at a height of 16", 16 s.f. space. It's also easier to hang cause it's so lightweight, has a fine spectrum and the big plus is you can place the driver in a remote area, outside of the grow space.

Then there's the new Sam 301H chips and such, very fair price....it's a no brainer. Same warranty as the HLG.
