we take all our recycles to the bins at the schools, but all the green waste gets bagged and taken to another neighbor hood and thrown into a greenwaste bin.

When is the last time you saw a garbage man open up a bag of garbage? Put it in a large black trash bag at the bottom...next layer is used cat litter...then regular garbage. Seriously...what are the odds he digs through that? Like zero point zero. Imagine yourself to be a garbage man with exactly 1,000 household worth of garbage to pick up by 11 am. Do you want to work fast and be done at 10:20 am...or inspect each bag and be done at 1:45 pm?

No curb side pick-up, no recycling etc... Here you have to go exploring for a dumpster.
what happens with your regular trash? you have to cart it to the dump? i guess that changes things. i just hate seeing plastics and shit like that burned if it can be avoided. bad juju.

Judging by the answers; It depends if you live in the country or in the city, but it's a good idea to shread it, or dump something on it to cover-up the smell. ammonia, kerosene, bleach, pine-sol, etc.

Police aren't checking your trash unless they already have a case IMO

dont dump all at once looks heaty, do a bag every few days. Use contruction site dumps, and when around the corner put some tape on the plate of ur car if the car u have registered is at the adress of the location.

All our trash goes into a landfill, it sucks, but transportation costs prohibit recycling.
Funny thing is 10 or so years ago Miami's "Mount Trashmore" was the only repository for refuse down there so they went to an elaborate recycling system wherein these cool trucks with multiple containers on them would come around. Plastic, paper, clear glass, colored glass, etc.... Some news reporter decided to follow the waste stream & they found out that the trucks pulled up on top of this trash mountain and dumped all the "recycle" shit & it got buried.
I hope somebody's ass got burned for that one.
