What Will Happen?

totally agree

If it were legalized here's what I think will happen.

Big farms and corporations will flood the market with low-mid grade cannabis. But I don't think that will be the end of small time growers. I mean, look at micro breweries, they're flourishing even in the shadow of huge companies.

Unfortunately when you produce on that scale, you'll lose quality and there will always be a market for quality and that's where the small local growers will step in and fill the gap.
ya thats what i think will happen to

i think obama is paving us a golden road into legalizing marijuana ... he made it his policy to not use federal resources to circumvent state marijuana laws.. so if we legalize it in our state then its 100% legal... although it will still be FEDERALLY prohibited this law will no longer be enforced.. but we need to abolish the fed ban on marijuana before a new president comes in or this president might try and bust all of the marijuana grow ops

exactly. it must be abolished federally if it is to be safe after obahma leaves office.

I heard glen beck speaking about marijuana today. He said that we need to either enforce marijuana laws or end the prohibition. We need to stop playing both sides and being in the middle. I agree with him.... we have tried prohibition and nobody likes it so its time to legalize it outright... at least end the federal ban so that the states can make and enforce their own laws regarding drugs

exactly. it must be abolished federally if it is to be safe after obahma leaves office.

If RON PAUL is running for president next term You should vote for him because he would legalize it. He would also get rid of the IRS and "Federal" Reserve too.

Word! Me too.

Mike Huckabee said he wants to get rid of the IRS. I think he'll be running for POTUS too. I haven't studied his politics that much, but anyone who wants to get rid of the IRS is cool with Me.

But I'm rooting for RON PAUL all the way. I know what he stands for.

I'm lost here, Guys. Correct me if I'm off course. The Fed. Law overrides the State Law, but people can grow up to 6 plants for personal use in certain Counties in Cal. when the Fed law claims it illegal to grow. And if Fed Law is over powering, to State Law, why can't everybody grow 6 plants for personal use, or for Medical use? Any answers?

It is federally illeagle to handle marijuana in any way shape or form. But obama said that he wont enforce the federal laws. So now its just state laws that we need to work with. In some states you can grow weed and in other states you can not.

Despite all of this it will remain federally illeagle to do anything with pot.

So, legally speaking, there is NO Fed Agency in America that can enforce any prior illegal law on Pot? AFT, DEA, ETC?. And when did this law by Obama pass the Judiciary Dept. Where's the Legislative Bill on this?

U.S. Attorney General Says Justice Department Will No Longer Interfere With States’ Medical Pot Policies

February 26th, 2009 By: Paul Armentano, NORML Deputy Director

Score one for the good guys!
Earlier this month, new U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder promised a clean break from the policies of the Bush administration. Yesterday, during a live interview on C-Span, he affirmed that this change includes ending the DEA raids of state-authorized medical marijuana providers!
Responding to a reporter’s question regarding the DEA’s recent actions against several California medical cannabis providers, Holder stated: “What the President said during the campaign . . . will be consistent with what we will be doing here in law enforcement. . . What [President Obama] said during the campaign . . . is now American policy
You can watch the video of Attorney General Holder’s remarks here.
Holder’s statement marks a dramatic shift in U.S. drug policy, and is a major victory for the 72 million Americans who reside in states where the use of medical cannabis is legal! It also lends support to the ongoing efforts in Minnesota, New Jersey, and Rhode Island — each of which are debating legislative proposals to make the production and distribution of medical cannabis legal under state law.
At this time, NORML would like to personally thank those of you who responded to our request to contact the Attorney General’s office and urge Eric Holder to call off the DEA raids. Your phone calls and e-mails have helped to change U.S. marijuana policy!
So go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back. And while you’re at it, click here to thank the new Attorney General for supporting the will of the people and the health and welfare of seriously ill patients.
“Change we can believe in?” Yes it is, and it’s about time.

This is ONLY policy. At any time obama can take it all back and unleash the DEA on us again. I DOUBT HE WILL THOU! Once they stop raiding us for some time we will begin to accept marijuana publically into socieity. Once that happens if the DEA ever raids someone then that will cause an enormous uproar with the public.

So, as you say, the Policy, as stands, can have the DEA enact whatever past laws stated, making Obama's statements totally worthless, as it now stands?

NO... The policy is to "not use federal resources to undermind the states marijuana laws" and the DEA has been ordered to NOT do any more raids. This is not law but only policy. They can get fired or tried for treason if they dont follow is policy.

THE RAIDS HAVE STOPED!!! I dont expect to see any more untill we get a new president

To sum it up... Dont worry about the federal government sticking their nose into your business.... only worry about your state and local government... The feds are laying dormant now

Then you are a dumb ass and part of the problem. We only have a certain amount of acres that are in their original form. Altering any of these just cause you want some pot is stupid. Use your closet or spare room

OK, so NOW, what if I grew shit on a Fed. Park?

Agreed. So are we all going to be small growers. Mabye some of us could work for philip morris. I would rather grow small for quality.
