what kind of weed was around in the 80's?

Hey, I am probably a little bit older than several on this forum. I used to have a blast lighting up with the friends back in like 1985. I used to get a great buzz that was mellow, gave me the massive munchies, made me laugh my ass off at the stupidist stuff, etc. I would share like 1 joint with a friend and get very pleasently fried.

Well that was then and this is now. Now the weed is soooooo incredibly potent compared to the 80's weed that it is rediculous. The high is completely different also!!!!!! The last time I smoked was almost 10 years ago now. I only had like 4 or 5 bong hits and got way too wasted! I got home and puked. Felt like total crap from being way too stoned. I just layed on the bed trying to go to sleep (not because I was sleepy, just wanted to come down). This experience was very similar to the experiences I had the previous couple of years. The weed all came from different sources even in different states. The stuff has just changed in the last 20 years!

So, now that I stated the above.... Here is my question: I want the high that I used to get back in the 80's. The weed was alot less potenet and the high was alot more enjoyable (in my oppinion). Are there still any strains around that would probably give me the high that I used to get? I think I smoked some skunk back in the 80's the rest was probably made up names like "Jamaican Red Hair Sense" and not really strains. Now I see that there are several different kinds of skunk out there. Any suggestions on which seeds I should buy of which strain to get as close to the same weed as I used to have? Also, I live in the USA so any supplier that has the strain would need to be able to ship to the US. Thanks if anyone knows what I am looking for.

Here in aus you get three types of weed. 1.)dank hydro(indica) 2

shit hydro(indica) 3.)dank bush(natural sativa) i had some stuff exactly the same as you described many times before, the strain hasint been touched apparently its like a native sativa. Exactly the same high as you described. Im growing some now

do a forum search (top of the page) for "seed bank" and u should find a thread listing good sites. most of them ship to the u.s.

rule of thumb, indica mainly gives u the body stone, and sativa gets u the mind fuck. many strains are a combo, and most banks will give a little overview of the high (there are alot of connoisseurs out there)

somebody may recommend a strain, but experimenting is always fun! u just got to pace urself a little better!

(oh and for the record, we got some old-timers around here that have been tokin since the 50's!)

i hear you my friend. i miss the giggles. way good times. i stay medicated 24/7 just to keep up the tolerence. if i smoked any less i would be in the corner hiding. i do think strain plays a very important part. but for me it's like asking an alcoholic want the best booze is. ALL OF IT!!!

Nizzan, I am probably ten years older than you. All the strains are totally different today. I was browsing the seedbanks recently, (picking out strains for my summer grows) and I cant remember which strain it was, but came across an interesting strain that was a cross between (ready to stir your memory?) of columbian, Jamica and I think it the 3rd cross was Thai or panama red.

When you find that stuff pass the baby this way..I remember the jamaican gold, hell we never got any of the hydro..I think we were probably just happy to be where we were with our dime bags (remember them?) and good friends that seemed to make the high ten times sweeter...damn..now I need to go find my Steve Miller band cd!

For most of the bud I smoke, 2-3 hits is enough to get me really baked, and I smoke pretty much every day, I've built up a few years of tolerance.

I remember "red hair sense" and "thai stick" along with "christmas tree" and "columbian gold".. The best I ever smoked was called "love boat" aka "Black Gunji". It was black and really sticky..Its odd, I dont really remember alot of "strains" from the 80s.. more so nick names than actual strains i think. But I do know that most of the weed was brown..The only green weed you seen was "red hair sense" or "christmas tree" which I think were just nick names for sensamilla. I have lived in the same place my whole life, and to be honest, all that ever really has ever been here is what ppl call "schwagg" or brick weed. Besides the occasional spurt of "mid grade" ( light green, no or very very few seeds etc )..

lol we used to call really really good weed "Wayne Williams" ( cuz it was the KILLER! lol )

I've been smoking since the 70's i don't know all the strains we smoked from then and into the 80's all i remember is that it was friigin awesome. there were times when i thought my ribs would crack from laughter. we called it giggle weed cause we only knew it was trippy and everything was fucking hilarious. best of all i had so many friends that smoked that i never had to buy it, someone was always pulling out a bag or a joint, they didn't care the motto was the more the merrier

Well from my experience i think that what u need is some home grown mids buy very cheap weed about a gram 1G, and it is guaranteed to have seeds in it, there might b different looking ones in it but find the ones that look best and healthy enough to grow..... plant it and grow with care then u got what your looking for.... how old are you?

well i think i got your solution... buy mids, a very low grade marijuana that is basically trash but all you do is buy it and it is guaranteed that it will have seeds in it... plant it and grow with care for 6 months then you dry the buds and u got what you have been missing for so long
