What Is the Average? (Grams Per Watt)

Oh yeah, @ jberry, you put 1000 watt lights 6-8 inches apart? Do you meen from the side of the reflector or to the light center? Unless they are water cooled this is very unorthodox. The amount of air circulation you would need would be destructive and not to mention controlling your relative humidity. You would have to place the plants about 4 feet under the lights which is counter productive. space them further get them closer and use the the photon yield increase for a better harvest.
honestly, they are probably more like 10-12 inches apart... and i mean from the side of the reflector... and they are air cooled... and yea, i guess i am unorthodox, but i also can rely on over a pound from every 3'x3' of tray space...

and im happy to tell you... your wrong on everything... I cool five 1000 watt lights with one 8 inch vortex fan, and I cool another 4000 watts with one 8" Canfan.... and my temps range from 74 - 78 degrees, my RH ranges from 40 - 60, and i keep my lights around 21 - 25 inches above the canopy.... and no bleached leaves.

how would the air circulation be destructive??

But i should mention that my room is under total climate control, but i rarely need the A/C, dehumidifier, humidifier, ect.. but they do click on and off when the meters and gauges tell them to... but most of the time its just the 8" fans and the fresh air intake keeping the room cooled.

This makes no sense. So you're telling me that if I have 1 plant and I'm using 400w, then I should get the same amount as if I have 5 plants under 400w? that doesn't make so much sense imo.

who can make the most money kinda thing. if I gave each of you a book and $1000 how much money can you makes per dollar investment?

its tha same thing if you got a 400 watt and are only getting 4 ozs off it. it means you and doing somthing wrong whether it be only having 1 plant or not using nutes or whatever

as they old addage says "Your Doing it Wrong"

why would you purposly try to hurt your yields by using one plant? this gram per watt question is only for growers who are trying to maximize thier yeild to the maximum with the lights they have available.

the one who can get the most grams per watt, it the most skilled grower and non-wasteful grower.

Not necessarily, you are ignoring costs and labour at one end, and quality at the other.

cost and labour mean nothing to me, they are less than 1% of what your profits would be if you sold your yield, the only cost is risking your freedom

you spend $100 for a grow and turn around and make $4,000 off of 1lb

my bad maybe 2% is your cost

but im sure after initial investment, its about 1% cost and the rest 99% is all profit markup

why is everyone so afraid to just state thier grams per watt, we dont want an astrix next to your post, if you dont wanna share then dont. this thread was intended to see what people are averaging not

seeing what excuses you have for not getting better yeilds

its like somone askin you how much money you make, if someone says I make $50 per hour

and they ask "how about you", i dont say $6 per hour, but but but I didnt go to college and I got A.D.D. and my left arm is missing and my city aint hiring right now and my old lady says im impotent and its affecting my work

so keep is simple people or pls dont chime in, i originated this thread back in the day, somhow i ended up with a different username now and I aint changing it back

anyway i know this thread will never work cuz peeps will keep comming in giving me the professor routine:bigjoint:

first of all,id like to live where you do if the going price is 4,000 a lb. lol
but to answer your question:
5x5 veg room............................ 400 watt metal helide
sensi grow 2 part for nutes
one squirrel cage for air intake
1- 4 inch vortec for exhaust
8 inch circulting fan in room
light cycle 18-6
all plants are 15-20 inches when transfered to flower room

7x8 flower room
1000 watt hps(hortilux eye bulb)
general hydro nutes 3 part flora series with florilicious and bud bloom
16 inch circulating fan in room
light cycle 12-12

i finish with 6 plants in flower
3 that are indica dominate which had a total dry weight of 411 grams
3 that are 80% sativa which had a dry weight 242 grams

these plants are grown in hempy buckets watered every second day.

actually $4000 was a low figure, $300 per oz x 16 oz's = $4,800

my freind sellsem at $300 a pop whe he has em and they get snapped up right away and people are amazed the price is so low

they turn around and sellem for $400 and even more than that its ridicules

i just just grow to smoke for free but if i run outa weed before harvest is ready or somthing i buy shwag for $70 and oz. i could never throw away that much money on weed.

prices are redicules,

but thats how it is on the east coast

How is it possible to calculate grams per watt? Do you mean gram per watt per plant? It just doesn't make sense to say gram per watt because that suggests that if i have 1 plant under a 400w light, then i will get the same yield as having 10 plants under the same light. How is it possible? It doesn't make sense but i'd like to hear your logic.

like say you tried to grow a plant 1 plant under a 400 watt

and say it died and that was your first grow, you best gram per watt ratio will be 0

now say u grew 1 plant under a 400watt finished flowered and harvested,

say you end up with a super shitty yield of 3 ozs thats right around say 90 grams

90 grams / 400 watts = 0.225 grams per watt

so after somone learns how to grow I say you should atleast be able to swing 0.5 gram per watt so that would be for a 400 watter you should yield 200 grams at harvest to achieve 0.5 grams per watt

the goal should always be to get 400 grams dry manicured bud from a 400 watt light or 1 gram per watt, then the next goal should be even better

or 600 grams from a 600 watt light

but i think 0.5 is about average maybe

im trying to set goals for ourselves and I also wanna talk to anyone who is getting high gram per watt ratios say like over 1 gram per watt so I can learn from them.

thats really why i made this thread a couple years ago

i guess i shoulda just said so in the first place

may not make sense to you but thats pretty much how it works...

One huge trained plant filling the lit space properly or 50 tiny plants grown in the same area will grow roughly the same amount of weight (assuming you have the proper skills in both types of growing methods)

as long as the canopy size, space, and light are the same than i think you should get a similar amount of herb regardless of plant number.... Im sure one amount of plants is slightly better than another, but it should be close.

Things would be different outdoors, but im talking indoor.

...hey dude, I can give you an idea on how to get more then 1g per watt.

...here is the gist:
...veg? aeroponics "easy cloner" for 1 week after roots are established from cutting, under flos 24/7, 70 - 80f for room temp, 60 - 70f res. temp., humidity 70 - 80%

for bloom:
...light? 600 watt HPS, with double parabolic air cooled hood. technique, using Lucas Formula , 6 inch pots w/ clay pebbles, 3x3 flood bed....fits 48 plants.
...technique? Ebb and flow 3x3 table, clay pebbles in 6inch square pots.
...strain? Sensi seeds, "Big Bud"
...temps? 70f - 80f room, 60f - 70f res.
...humidity? 40 - 60
...should yield approx 15g per plant....or more!

...48 plants X 15g = 720g! (at the minimum)

...these high density, commercial gardens are how your going to achieve more then 1g per watt.

...Indica plants are what you want to grow. Any Indica for the most part. The dense buds and the low leaf to stem ratio makes it all the more possible to stuff as many plants as possible under one light. Good luck.

Sorry I didn't see that you said air cooled, in several other threads I totaly defend air cooling.

You'll do much better with Humboldt Nutrients 2 part Amino Acid Chelated nutrients. Cutting edge.

Again, no one is listening, If you get 400 gms in two months from a 400 watt light, that is only .5 gms per watt per month. I have achieved 1.2 gms per watt per month off one 400 watt water cooled HPS vertically hung without reflector inside the cannopy of 4 plants rotating on turntables. I've never seen anybody else do that and I've been around the sceen for decades.
