I shit you not... I found this in a Hydro-Farm catalog...
It literally reads;
"Earth & Grow is the world's first available growing system that maximizes plant growth, health, and production by reconnecting container-grown plants to the Earth's energy. {A god damned outlet....}
Plants have evolved in the ground, outside in nature. Potted plants in your home, office, and greenhouse are missing the connection to their vital energy source, the earth.
Developed by a horticulturist and electrical engineer, the patent pending Earth & Grow system has been tested and approved by everyday gardeners, industry professionals, and university researchers."

This shit will run you 350$ if you want to "reconnect" 24 plants to the "Earth" via your wall socket.

Has anyone seriously used this...?? And if so... did it actually do anything, or is it as stupid and pointless as it sounds when I read it..?

well if it could interface with my WiFi and LAN too I'd say the guy was on to something...

oddly I now have a strange desire to rub a balloon on my head and go touch my plants...
Haaaahahahahaha
It just reminds me of a phrase I heard a few years back.
"Whomever gets something like that clearly has more money then sense."

"Uses natural electricity" and "innovative green technology"...

As opposed to supernatural electricity? And what's "green" about hooking plants up to the power grid? lol

This product should get the poster-child award for silliest marketing claims and buzzword usage aimed at the "natural" and "green" crowd.

By the way, did you read the FAQ page? It doesn't actually do anything but ground plants (for hundreds of dollars!):

Q: Do the Earth & Grow® systems use any electricity?

A: No. Earth & Grow® will not increase your electric bill. Our plant growth systems connect to the Earth by utilizing ground of electrical systems found in your home and in commercial facilities. The connection helps to balance and induce low-level energies, which we then can control and regulate, creating an "electric fertilizer'.

Oh god... "electric fertilizer"
Imagine my surprise when finding this in the catalog. Of all the most nonsense items i've ever seen that indoor gardeners will buy in order to TRY to improve their grows, this has to be the stupidest, most pointless bullshit i've ever seen.

So in effect, you can just stick one end of a wire in the ground, and the other end into your potted plant?
[SARCASM] WOW, thats genius!! I am going to order the large kit.[/SARCASM]

Exactly!!! Why did we never think of this before...
But I prefer the DIY approach. ;) lol I just take a long wire and put one end in my plants, and the other end directly into the wall socket. There was some sparking and the lights went out for awhile, but once I got the breakers replaced, and put the fire out that had enveloped part of my plant, it totally upped my yield!!! ;)

Now THAT'S SARCASM. ;) hehehe

All this really does is connect your homes ground circuit with your plants soil or whatever medium you use.
It doesn't use any electricity. Just the ground connection of an outlet.
This ground connection is most often a cold water pipe.

Plants may build up static charges and need to be truly connected to the earth, I don't know but it makes sense.

You could easily build your own for the cost of some copper wire, a cold water pipe clamp and a wire nut.

Can you compare the results with other methods of plant growth enhancement?

Would you do it again?

In a heartbeat bro. ;) But nothing will beat the time I got a 10g per/watt yield using 2 flashlights and a picture of the sun. ;)

I hear you have to plug it into Duke Energy to get all the benefits but you must live downstream from the power plant.

I hear that to get the benefits from this method, you have to be a former alien abductee, and THEN you get electric shits that can benefit your plant.
I also hear that if you drink your nutes diluted 1/24, that your piss will be like SUPER NUTES!!!

Disclaimer: Don't be stupid... i'm joking. Drink your nutes....and you'll probably die. At the very least, you'll get sick as fuck.
(just in case any noobs read this and think we're being, for a single second, serious.)
