Cos it is too short a season im too far north u try growing outdoors in Scotland your the one who is backwards lol semi autos in a good season is best you can pull off without a greenhouse full on autos are a better suited to my climate than photos inside i grow things that wouldnt last here it barely stops raining regardless of the season

This is why I don't grow outdoorsIt's one of the reasons I grow indoors, along with:
-Way fewer insects/pests/disease issues.
-Way more even/controllable environment.
-Way more secure from theft/trouble.
Just saw someone I know who posted on FB (ugh) a picture of his 6x 10g bags from his summer grow...all neatly chopped at 1" above the soil. Whoever stole them did so about 6 weeks early...He was outraged & angry that someone came into his unfenced backyard that was easily visible from the road and did such a 'bad karma' thing. LOL.

I don't think I would ever get used to rain all the time that far north!!! Sounds like rain and snow are the only things you get every year, and that sucks!!!

Idk, im going to have to google Scotland's weather, cause if they don't get above freezing(32f i can't remeber) or evn 40f as a low to 85f as a high for 8 to 10 weeks minimum, I'd be shocked. Photos outside are like autos inside. They flower based on the sun. As long as it's over freezing and gets more than 12 hours of sun it'll veg. Even if there was exactly 8 weeks of above freezing, and 12 hours of sun year round, Indicas can definitely finish start to end in 8 to 10 weeks. Rain is beside the point. Everyone gets it. Growing a early harvested auto at 70 days to "fit" it in your frame isn't any better than a 70 day photo that will do more outside.
Google all you want it will obviously vary depending where you are theres micro climates and such and as a general rule the north of the country is colder gets more snow and the east coast gets less rain vs the west coast and tell you what you meet anyone who finished a full on photo plant in the highlands or the west coast outdoors you let me know cos autos and semi autos are what most northern growers grow for a reason they work its the same further north in nordic countries

I didn't look at rain, cause again it rains everywhere in the wolrd and crops are still grown outdoors. I live in Buffalo Ny. We got 96 inches of snow last season. I see from google that Scotland's snow season is from November to March. Pretty similar here it can start as early as before Halloween and still have snow in April at times. Oir worst was 175 inches in 77'. Outdoors season here is May to October. 6 months is a good season and that could be down to 4 if winter is long here. I just thing it's crazy that you don't get 3 months of weather that is not freezing cold and snowing. Idc either way since I'm not getring anybody's weed anyways. Outside this perticular senerio i suppose, in the rest of the population it still makes sense that of you can grow outside photo is obviously better than an auto. It'll simply get bigger and yeild more.

I'm not far away from you...we tend to get a bit more than Buffalo and our microclimate is a bit colder/wetter than the area surrounding us...we're about 1000' above much of the 'plain' that runs across upper NYS that really is at sea-level. The lake effect that doesn't fall on the lower areas dumps on us, and it's about 10f degrees cooler than other parts of the region. They only got 65" snow in 2021 in the region for our 98."

I'm in NE Ohio and I'm probably getting the same weather as you upstate cats
Its also the fact in summer that far north we get like 17 hours light as well i agree if u stay someplace u can grow photos do it but with that and the weather autos n semis work for us also for folks at like lat 60 this is why breeders like panik of realgorillaseeds and esbe of hybrids from hell exist

I am in the far south west of England, it is way milder than Scotland and I have tried and failed with Photos outdoors. It isn't just temperature and light, it gets way too wet and windy here. Yet Autos germinated in May are spot on, but only in a poly tunnel or green house.

I know a guy in england in the south near london that even pulled off light dep haze but i know not all of England is the same only some and we get wind n rain in spades too so you ever try semi autos by any chance cos they tend to be better in shit areas vs full on photo plants obviously nothings truly bullet proof but yeah?

London is in the South East, so it is hot and dry in the summer, with little wind. Where I am is windy all the time and rains a lot and generally milder year round. Humidity is my killer.
Same here pretty much rain general humidity and wind more so than the cold is the killer even tho im obviously colder than where you live and im on the west coast too just a bit further north than yourself pal

The West Coast of Scotland is very similar to Cornwall. When I was a kid I went to Largs and was very surprised about how much it reminded me of Penzance.
