Unstable genetics also exist, certainly.

It is a multi faceted problem.
I just want to get your thoughts on something.

I popped 6 golden goat x barberry brute seeds , from a breeder in co. 2 males, 2 females,1 didn't pop , 1herm ( 3 weeks in flower ) . So do you think it was environment or genetic BC I'm going to harvest in the next day or two, and the females are big with large frosty buds, main cola is as big as a softball and as long as your forearm. Ohh and it's the sweetest smelling bud I ever smelt.

Just course on your thoughts .

I hope you kept clones!

I once had a Hermie pink diesel x amnesia, and she hermied on me real early in flower, not any clusters but a nanner here and there so I decided to keep her, it was a huge risk of pollinating the rest of my crop but I took it and she pulled through wasn't all female after I neutered the shemale it then become all female... Yet didn't yield near as much as the other non Hermie strains under same conditions/feedings/environment/ etc. That being said I believe there are some stable (at least 90%) all female strains, like my chronic lights I've tried everything even CS to make her hermi, but nothing did it... So I just decided to take the long route and cross then backcross with clones to bring out mothers genetics more..
Some strains are just shity, not pure bred and have a tendency to throw balls... Good luck hope it helps!

Yeah 6. Plus I seeded the lower branches of one of the females. And it's unbelievable the difference the seeded plant and nonseeded.
In your shoes, I would just keep the best females, clone the shit out of them and run with them. But I'm not a breeder.

Seems strange that a plant that was selfed using a chemical (most likely) will not do it again.

Describing it as a 'multi faceted problem' sums it up well, some plants are more/less prone even if identical. Were on the same page and refreshing to find such openess rather that the normal hermie trash talk. I offer the theory in my previous post as one of the main contenders for why weed hermies.

The unstable genetics slur is just that, i agree that unstable genetics exist but its the context that annoys me, unstable genetics as in mutations, unstable genetics as in dna breakdown from radiation or just that the strain is unstable in that the next generation might be show slightly different traits to its parents? Unstable genetics dosent really descibe any one scenario over the other and new growers be like lconfusing the whole genetic situation, were talking dna - be specific...

The last time I popped a batch of beans, they ALL went hermaphrodite- even while sharing the same room, environment, nutes, light, etc as other plants that never showed any signs of it then or since.

I was so disgusted I just went back to getting proven clones from my network of acquaintances.

Believe me when I tell you I have not been disappointed.

Finding one plant that is resilliant in a strain and cloning futher narrows your genetics down, seeds carry way more subtle variations imo.

Id be doing the same believe me but space and grow style limit me to fem seeds, i love em but no where good as running a clone program.

Uk has little networks, breeders, clubs or dispesaries etc, one downside of illegal states and countries.

Cannabis is an annual. Its life from seed to seed is expressed in one season. It's continued success rests on its ability to make as much seed as possible. It does that pretty well. Even in "all female " seed I get I still see em.

My own research is much better served by running exactly the same genetics over and over for the specific purpose of eliminating such variations from the resultant data. Different strokes...

That said, when your confident you have a 100% hermie free plant that will breed true feel free to send me a clone so i can make millions off the first hermie free strain. Till then your in the same boat as all of us and hermies will happen...

Is a clone only strain one that can't be selfed (S1's)?

I don't have herms, so whatever it is going on in your grow, I'd start there.

Clone only is one half of the equation, with no male to breed and make seeds you can only clone, limited genetics. Possibly if it was bred it wouldnt have the same traits.

Not somthing ive had much to do with so others may add more :-)

Best to my knowledge, if it's genetics they'll have nanners all over. If it's environment it will have nanners here and there. There's also the scenario where they say, when a plant is late in flower and it realizes that there are no babies being produced, it will produce some nanners as a last ditch effort to survive.
Why you sometimes find seed in sinsimillia. I realize this thread hasn't been posted on since January. Just wanted to answer your question, because I didn't see an answer lol
