BAGHDAD – Iraq's Shiite-led government cracked down harshly on dissent during the past year of Arab Spring uprisings, turning the country into a "budding police state" as autocratic regimes crumbled elsewhere in the region, an international rights groups said Sunday.Security forces abuse protesters, harass journalists, torture detainees and intimidate activists, Human Rights Watch said in the Iraq chapter of its annual report."Iraq is quickly slipping back into authoritarianism," said Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East director for the New York-based group. "Despite U.S. government assurances that it helped create a stable democracy (in Iraq), the reality is that it left behind a budding police state," she said.

yeah that was worth the money for sure. A new member of the Democratic Socialist Union of the World... Egypt and Libya will follow Iraq's lead no doubt.

The sweet old USA will one day be a police state if you don't already consider it one.
2012 will prove to be the craziest year of the century, starting the first solid year of Electronic police state and Totalitarianism.

Its coming guys, and there is nothing we can do to stop it. Hows that for freedom?

The major difference between here and over there is the majority of the population here is armed...everyone here knows someone with a gun, or 100...and the american population can overthrow our own government if it gets to that point as the majority of our own military is sympathetic to our people and not our government :)

In all fairness Iraq was a police state under Saddam Hussien (no relationship to Barack)
But the important thing is Iraq now has a Central Bank so they can be more easily controlled without killing tens of thousands of innocent men women and children.

The bad news is the killing is just getting started. When they are not killing infidels, they kill each other and we have set things up so the shiites & the sunnis can find their way to paradise and those 72 beautiful virgins.

You almost have to love a religion that says 72 dank virgins are waiting for you.
Too bad you have to kill your fellow man to impale virgins

They do but not to the extent that we do.

FilthyFiz, you have a point I fear right now we watch Rome falling. But we shall overcome we always do. No I don't know how. But I
have a lot of faith in the American People.

Not like here they don't...I know my family itself has enough armaments to outfit a good 150 people with assault rifles, sniper rifles, handguns, etc, etc...and enough bullets+supplies to last a few years of gorilla warfare :D

I wish this were true. Maybe, mayyyybe if we started organizing and taking control right now we would have a chance at overthrowing BHO, but the desired out come would take many bloody years of pain and starvation. Our country would not function properly for 10+ years, imo..

The usa gov has fighter jets that could tear up the whole country in a day. Do you have a surplus of F22 Raptors? I don't...

The gov has top of the line body armor that a .308 will not penetrate. I don't even own a bullet proof vest, yet.

Every day the second amendment is closer to being essentially abolished. They want to allow only hunting type guns (no flashlights on shotguns, no silencers, and no clips over 5 rounds) The second amendment was created for protection against the US Gov. How are we to win if we have .223s and they have tanks, ships, nukes, warplanes, and all the money and resource at their expense? Not to mention the best trained killers in the world..

The Government is training the military on what to do in the event of a civilian uprising as we speak... After all, the Home front is now a battlefield.

Imo, They will most likely develop a new branch of the military exclusively for controlling people like you and I. The new branch will probably be brainwashed and think they are fighting for the correct cause by protecting the politicians and that We The People are the real enemy... All part of the plan

They are getting ready for the 2012 civil war.. You can see it in Obama policy, The Defense Authorization Act of 2012, ObamaCare, step right up and get fucked in the ass(for free)....

I could keep going but dont really feel like it lol.. Feel free to add ya $.02

This country doesn't need a militant uprising. Everyone up there is elected by the people. This country only needs ONE GODDAMN THING to fix it...Campaign Finance/Lobby Reform. We need a constitutional ammendment that bans private contributions from both corporations AND individuals to elected officials or those seeking to run for office. We need to ban bribery and take the seats of our gov't off of the auction block. Campaigns would be financed using pools of public funds with strict oversight and auditing to ensure proper appropriation.

Campaigns don't need to cost 50 million dollars to run. The message can be delivered to the people through public channels and on public television. I'm an avid capitalist. A believe in the free market and a staunch conservative, but NONE of it works if the referee is playing in the game, if he's picking the winners/losers and determining the outcomes. We need to ensure that our REPRESENTATIVES (not leaders, not rulers, not any other bullshit) are from the people and for the people. We need to stop electing the candidates that have been propped up by the corporations and labor groups and start electing those that are from amongst the people.

The only way we achieve a system that is free to operate and to provide equality (of opportunity, not of outcome) is to ensure that our gov't and our representatives are doing their job in the best interest of the people, in competition and in free enterprise. We don't need guns and/or a militant uprising, we need each and every american to look at the very simple principle of not allowing money to influence politics.

http://www.national-convention.com/constitutional-amendment.html

The only way to get there is to have the state legislatures demand it. The only way to do that is to demand it in your state. We need states that have these ammendments to their own constitutions first.

So what? I don't need Jon Q Dumbass voting based on the commercials he saw during Dancing with Stars to determine who our representatives are. New Media, public television and public radio is certainly enough options to get the important messages out that candidates have to offer. We don't need privately funded TV commercials and attack ads to sway large groups of uninformed people to determine the fate and outcome of our nation.

We need people able to get the information, not forced to see parts of it while flying past on their DVR.

The thing is though...the chances of the government being able to force any branch of the military to attack its own people in this day in age isn't going to happen...the people of the US won't stand for it...they won't have the support of the military personnel as they will jump ship if anything like that happens...The financial support by military personnel to Ron Paul really supports this theory of mine...

Yes Laser you are absolutely right. The only thing is that its too late to do any of that being that the citizens have been brainwashed to the point that they cannot make correct and positive decisions about our economy, our rights, and anything political for that matter..

Also "They" have been working on this plan for a long time. "They" are not about to let us rollback all of their progressive, I mean progress lol

Either we start a civil war now or they declare it in 10 months.

I may sound like I want a civil war, I can assure you that is not he case. I want peace and love to fill the air (: I'm just reading the writing on the wall and doing my best to mentally and physically prepare myself.

Oh your absolutely right, they cannot force a branch as a whole no, but some military personnel consider themselves part of the Elite... You know what the Elite is don't you?

It only takes 1 airplane to level your assault rifle, sniper rifle, and handgun filled granite castle... And it only take one bullet shot from 700 yards to take your head off your shoulders while your tending your garden or peeking out a window

I like the idea of it being divided in that manner. The only thing is that Atlantic America probably wouldnt join the EU and the Texas republic will never join with Mexicans (they have too much pride)

California republic would need China to even stand a chance against Texas and the central part will most likely be a wasteland that no one wants to be in, especially the Canadians
