Hey all,

Back with PE on day 21 since germ. Fimmed her 3 days ago and she slowed down for a couple days but has bounced back. She is a little over 5" tall so figuring at least a couple more weeks of veg before I flip. Got some yellowing on one leaf at bottom node, checked her ppms and she been eating so I upped to 700. Having to ph down daily due to our hard water (store bought) and hope that the Flora Nova buffers will become more effective once I am over 1000 ppms. Temps steady at 77 with an air cooled 400 watts 9" above canopy.

Well Guess What I Did.I Went Out and Bought A Bunch Of Organic Nutes And I Now Have Converted My Res Over.

@Dawg, why did u get the organic nutes ? what did u use before ? can this nutes be used in hydro ? (i guess it can, but just in case). and also, what about the smell, is it bad ?

let me know how it goes...i too would love to switch to organics one day...but for now i use GH: mic, grow, bloom...

Why Did I Go Organic In My Hydro System???Cause I Was Called An IDOIT And They Said It Couldnt Be Done.Now It Might Take Me A Grow Or 2 To Dial It In,But Im Going To Make It Work

I Was Using Flora Nova Grow,Cal/Mag And Silica Blast And For Flower Flora Nova Bloom,Silica Blast,Cal/Mag And The 1st 6 Weeks I Use Liquid Kool Bloom Then That Last 2 Weeks Of Flower I Use Mother Of All Blooms (MOAB)

My Res Smell's Like Somebody Shit A Mint Leaf.

im very interested in this idea, but never tried...i guess the smell is not of the best kind...but maybe something more vegetable-based would smell better, just guessing.

about quitting smoking cigs, i too trying to...the best way i know is to slowly drop the daily amount, worked for me in the past. completely stop smoking, just gets me angry as fuck at everyone and everything.

I cant tell you how many I have had that once they get diagnosed with Cancer , they quit cold turkey. I ask them if it was hard and they all say, no , not at all. I sware to gawd this is the truth, as strange as it may sound. this is not all in my head.lmao

Hey Farmers,

My weekly update. PE at day 28 since germ, gave her a second and final topping 3 days ago and started LST same day. I had read other journals that had said PE can be somewhat stiff and unyielding and can break easily so I have been LSTing her gradually. Pulled all the branches completely horizontal after I took the photo below. Internodes are nice and short, I haven't had to deal with the temperature fluctuations of my previous grows despite being in an attic thanks to a recent move that gave me a far better insulated attic and the much larger Gorilla tent is a marked improvement over the POS 2x3 tent that I started growing in.

She has been problem free so far but I put that down to cutting my teeth on the waterfarm with my previous grow of Northern Light Blue.

Only having to ph down every other day now, pretty much holding steady between 5.8 - 6.5 and ppm's are at 800. Lights are still at 400 watts 7" above canopy with temps at 78 lights on and 69 off.

Going to give her at least another week before I consider laying down the screen and flipping the lights. I would like to go longer to ensure a big veg but summer temps here are a problem and I need her done no later than mid-May. So vegging two more weeks is my outside limit.

Made the new screen for my Gorilla tent last weekend and everything is humming along smoothly. Like many things in life I have found, boring and uneventful is good.

Hey guys, Im new to hydro, and have a waterfarm under a CFL in veg. About a week and a half old since going into the waterfarm. I check the PH and PPM twice a day, and it continues to swing from the 5.5 i set it to, to 7.8 and even 8.0 by 10-12 hours later.
I am using the lucas method with GH flora bloom and micro.
Water is RO water to start, and I cannot figure out why the PH will not stabilize.

Any thoughts or info would be greatly appreciated.

did you thoroughly rinse your hydroton before using? I mean like multiple times. I am not an expert but I have read repeated reports of upward ph swings from hydroton that was not thoroughly rinsed before use.

yes, like 5 times with scolding hot water, then let soak for 30 minutes. Should i have soaked them in a low PH water like RW cubes?

RO will lower your ppm's not necessarily your ph. Reverse osmosis filtration may or may not reduce the pH level of water at a noticeable amount. The pH difference after the RO depends on the composition of your input water source as well as the amount of gases such as CO2 in your local water supply.

What is your initial ph before adding nutes, down etc?

I can only offer personal anecdotal evidence that I have noticed that highly alkaline water (even distilled) has a tendancy to revert to its original ph.

Again a more experienced farmer may be able to provide you with a more definitive answer. Cause that's all I got
