When pot is legal, the example of brewing beer is a fine analogy.

The article in the link I posted was for a family that was legally growing medical marijuana. Police just used the ability to take away the family's children to harass them.

i'm voting against it because i don't believe in it. how hard is that? i have the right as a voter to decide for myself. i will not be coerced by guilt.

All very well , however pot is very much illegal.And beyond the law i would hesitate to introduce children to drugs.I dont feel its been a benifit to my life in any real sense but i grew up in different times.
Nowdays a youngster will struggle to find employment with the drug testing in place for even the most mundane jobs.Different if an older child decides this is what he or she wants out of life but i wouldnt bring them up thinking its the done thing.Others may feel differently , thats fine.

The med. card system in Cali. will still be there if you want to smoke at 18, so that gets rid of that. The plot doesn't have to be necessairily 5x5, just 25 sq. ft. That's plenty of space. You can have as much weed (the 1 oz. rule also counts for hash, if I'm not mistaken) as you want in your house, just when you take it out have to play by the rules. I say don't regulate the free market just because the decentralized status quo will have competition.

True , education is not a bad thing , many children emulate their parents , i wouldnt want to be the one to encourage any child to try drugs , thats all.Its a personal choice and something i wouldnt influence in any way.I understand everybody has a different outlook on it.

so you feel you couldn't teach your children how to be responsible? can i have a beer in front of him? he's not legally allowed to drink until he is 21, just like he isn't legally allowed to smoke unless he has a med card. what's the difference? if you teach them that they have to follow rules then there should be no problem. unless you plan on raising hellions.

A somewhat stretch of the imagination that i intimated i didnt teach kids how to be responsible fdd , i dont consider smoking pot to be particularly responsible.The difference between your beer and pot is you will go to jail for the pot , not the beer.
I would want my kid to start out in life with a clean slate , not a monkey on his back to where he cant even get a job at Mickey D's because i told him smoking pot is ok if done responsibly.
When my kid is my age i wouldnt want to be remembered as the one who introduced him to drugs , pretty simple if you stay on track.At $400 an oz im doing him no favours by letting him think its ok,its not ok.

i'm a medical patient. would you rather him watch me pop pills all day?

it would only be ok if the law passes and he is 21, or a med patient. this is the "responsible" part. i don't approve of him smoking it otherwise. i am NOT teaching my kid responsible pot use. i am teach him how to be a responsible person in general. i think you are misunderstanding me.

Not everybody is a medical patient , would you wish that on a child ? I didnt say a kid was doomed to BK because he watched anyone smoke pot , ill try again , fact is a kid will not be employed at most mundane jobs and up if testing positive for pot , its not a difficult thing to grasp.
Why would you care what my opion is on pot ? Ive smoked for more years than i care to remember , its a monkey on a persons back.

I'll tell you, back in late 1980's my kids stole a lot of my pot. Hell, I thought mice were eating it! Oh well, they said they'd pay me back when I needed it someday.

And no, I never used in front of them. It reminded me of when I use to take hits off my dads vodka and he never drank in front of me.

I have stayed out of this thread because I don't have a dog in this show seeing as how I live in the deep south where pot will probably never be legalized. But the comment about pot being a "monkey" on a person's back just threw me for a loop.

I've been a military officer, a mid-level executive in various Fortune companies, and am now a CPA. I have also smoked pot on and off for about 30 years. To me it is no more a monkey on my back than drinking a craft beer makes me an alcoholic. It is all in how you approach the substance. If you allow it to become your reason for getting up in the morning, then you are a stupid stoner, just as if you allowed alcohol to turn you into an alcoholic.

It is all in how you approach the weed my friend. Sorry you have approached it in such a way that it is now a "monkey" on your back.

Heheh. I used to steal my uncle's pot back in the late 70's - early 80's. He would buy it in quantity and then store it under his bed. I would just take a throat lozenge box and fill it with his pot, then reshape the mound of pot to make it look undisturbed.

I know people who quit drinking to smoke pot. Personally I used to drink almost three 30 packs a week after I got laid off, now that I started smoking again I buy a 12 pk for the weekend and that's pretty much it.

My wife didn't even smoke until we went to Jamaica for our honeymoon, now she is a Prop 215 patient. We know alot of people who have told us they would start smoking if it's legal, in fact one of her friends already tried it this weekend to see if she'll like it in case it passes. IMO, the pro's out weigh the cons, especially in the mind of the general public. It's going to be a long 4 months in California
