Voidling's Wicking Bed

Seeing as how you just planted them I think you have a little time before the roots stretch. On your next water put a couple drops of non-antibacterial dish soap (plain ole dawn or similar) and stir it in good. That will lower the surface tension of the water allowing it to soak in better. You only have to do this a couple times per grow, yucca fruit reduction (extract) does the same also.

I was pouring in straight water into the bottom tote to wick up but poured the fertilizer from the top down. I'm afraid of the nutes settling out into the bottom if I pour it into there. I'm not sure how to regulate how often to feed vs water and ect

Wow deja vu. Medshed was just asking me about that rom cut over at bobos thread and I come over here and here it is lol. I think everyones pretty much got it nailed as far as those rom beans. I should prolly tell him to come over here and get some other opinions on whether to keep it going

I wish I still had one of my ROM mothers. It died on me so wasn't by choice. It might not have the taste or bag appeal but it worked for me for sleep and pain relief. Will have a fond spot for it as my first successful grow

Thanks for pointing me over here HC.

Hey guys - sorry to barge in on your thread. I have some friends looking for a worthy mate to a Romulan mom that is a family heirloom. I have some of HC's "Romulan 3" beans and trying to determine whether I should recommend them for that project. The current plan is to take some Rom Joe beans (not sure of their source) out a few generations and then pick a male for the BX.

Feel free to PM me your opinion if you don't want to clog up Voidling's thread.

Thanks!
Medshed

Does their line have a flavor? The ones I had were fruity kind of smell but no flavor but pretty strong. I'm not sure what hc's line came from. They were easy to grow and forgiving of mistakes. I'd say they'd do well if he's wanting to make ROM seeds

It definitely has a distinct flavor. I've only smoked it a couple times and feel like I need more time with it to give an accurate description but it is somewhat fruity and also kind of metallic flavor, if that makes any sense. Last time I had it we were hotboxing this guy's garage and the Rom came out after I was already pretty lit. We had three fat joints going at once and the Rom was definitely the most distinctive taste.

I think I need to bum a few nugs from someone and vape it to pinpoint that flavor. The effect is DEFINITELY strong though. "Dent your head" sums it up well.

Probably need to to some pheno hunting. HC never did, could be some gem's in there. HCs romulans were JDB from a curious old fart as well.;)

That's the plan. One of our local crew is ready to put a couple years of work into this project. He has a pack of Romulan Joe beans and will soon have a pack of HC's JDB beans. He's planning to look through them all, take the winners out to f4 or so and find a male to backcross to the mom. I haven't known him that long so can't put odds on it actually happening but he seems like a stand up dude and seems committed so I think it will.

Voidlings moms had the kick for sure, as Medshed said,"head dent". Great for guys like Void and I, that are in pain 90% of the time.
And when combined in a bowl with the Sparkle(C99 x G13 haze), was my magic bullet! Took care of head, heart, and body.. It's actually late in my lineup for this year. I am running the Sparkle F2's for a seed run/pheno selection/isolation... And was going to drop some Rom beans as well. Hoping that as a cross, I can get my bullet in one plant. Most likely a fall operation, running into summer(at least) of 2014. I've too many other shits and grins lined up just for beans and head stash, to do a major project such as that.

Ill be dropping my NHK BX1's, and the last of my Lush beans for my next round. Beans n buds y'all!

And I am still looking for all the info I can get on these Romulan Beans.. I received them from the Vman, who received em from HC..And that's basically where my info putters out. Seems Cowboy and Tryna may have the story? If y'all(or anyone else) have some info, hit me up! I am trying to compile all the histories of my beans, and give proper credits when I regift.. It's only the right thing to do..

the NHK bx1's are dank very earthy chocolatey coffee smelling buds w/ a hint of gasoline, but they don't yield like the NHK f2's i sent you. the f2's and the sour og or sour kush cross i'm banking on being the shizzle. Also the lush is very nice yield and a staple in my garden. They are all super frosted beautiful plants. I also suffer from debilitating chronic pain i would say 85% of the time, which i am also disabled by. and thats why i fell in love with kush & deep indicas.

That would be very cool med to keep the genetics going like that. It's got a bit of history,,,,the beans came to me from cof who had gotten them with the stipulation that he would find a few growers to do seed runs to keep the genetics going and pass them around.

It's called the JDB cut (I believe) and was bred to stay low and bushey. It's been going around for a while, when I got them from cof which must have been close to 3 yrs ago now he had already had them for a couple yrs . To be honest I did not run them alot,,,,they were pretty beefy with a good solid mind body stone but had no taste. I didn't go pheno hunting afterwards either so I really don't know what any other recessive genes it might have would be like. I made some rom/black rose beans that I was going to call redrom haha but never got around to cracking them.

Gave a ton of the rom beans away and still half a lot just sitting in a shoebox. Pretty much been there since the seed run, they may or may not be good, probably I would think. You can have them if you want I tried giving them away over at voidlings thread quite a while ago but no takers lol. Too funny oh well
Bobo - I'm handing over the pack you gave me and he's popping them this weekend. He already popped a pack of Rom Joe beans so he's anxious to get these going too.

The guy who has been carrying the special mom knew all about the JDB Romulan and said it would be good to run both to look for keepers. Here's what he had to say about JDB:
"Med- The JDB cut was purchased from Vancouver seeds 10+ years ago so 90% chance it has White Rhino traits. There is said to be two phenos of JBD's and one is more sativa leaning to towards Joes cut which was bred with some mexican sativas and the other pheno showing strong Rhino traits from the crossing by federation before Vancouver got it."

And what he says about Romulan Joe:
"Everyone talks about Romulan Joe but he gained access to the cut in the 70's, nearly 20 years after the work had began on it. He did some breeding himself with some Sativas from south of the border into the early 90's then sold out to Federation who crossed it with a White Rhino male which is what most Romulan is today. There is no doubt Romulan Joe had the exact cut I have and if you are lucky, you can still find a cut of it in NorCal if you know the right people. Once Romulan Joe got the cut, it became tainted and is not what I still have today! People have made some amazing strains with the original which really is clone only since the original seed stock it came from is gone."

I'll make sure you get some of the beans from the finished project. It will be a couple years but I think I'll remember you...
heres a lil something.

Looks nice! Hey, sorry if I missed it, but did you put dividers in the dirt to prevent the root systems from competing with each other?
