Ok, heres the deal its 1 in the afternoon and I'm woken up by a man knocking on my door. He says he is doing a property assessment and already checked the exterior of my house. He claims he was doing this because my home was built recently by me and my father and they do this on new homes. My house was completed about 8 months ago.

So he proceeds to ask me a few questions, how many bedrooms...bathrooms...etc. I answer all of his questions and he finally says ok thats all. Then he finishes up by measuring my front porch...he made the same measurement 2-3 times but in a different way, I thought that was weird.

Ok the problem with that is I have 11 plants growing right on my fucking back porch. I dont know if he walked around back though. I also just ordered shroom spores about 4-5 days ago.

Anyways guys what the fuck do I do!!!!! I am seriously freaking out, every noise I hear im thinking cops are gonna either knock on or smash down my door.

That guy is an asshole for freaking me out like this. I am not smiling :-|

Dude, if he really is an appraiser, which I doubt since he didn't come inside to inspect (and measure, etc.), then you HAVE to assume he went around back and spotted them, if he has access to the back. If I were you, I'd find a close buddy to hold them for a bit for you. It makes no sense that some guy would just showup and only measure your front porch? Did he provide you any ID?

Honestly I was fucking freaking out and didnt even ask for any ID or anything. He had some form of city worker uniform on and a was driving a city truck.

Bah do you really think I should move them that far away?

I have an indoor grow setup that isnt being used I could easily move them in there.

Thanks for the fast responses guys.

I would not put them indoors! If he spotted that many plants outside, that could be all he needed to get a warrant. Get your plants out of there! Take them to a friends house, put them in the woods, SOMETHING! Get out of there man, get all of your illegal shit somewhere else! Vaccuum! Clean house! Move it!

Has anyone ever had anything similar happen??? Ok I have all the plants in my closet setup for now.

I loved them being natural and free in my backyard, they were so happy.

Bahhh you guys are freaking me out even more hahaha. But yeah I agree its not worth it to get caught ill be moving everything to either a friends or the woods.

It sucks that im supposed to be going into fucking work right now!!!!

Would Them searching around my house be legal or even hold up in court?

Who do you think he was or who do you think he really worked for?

Bummer man. Should've had them come and inspect it the day it was built :P

Sounds to me like you should hold off on the grow for awhile. Wait a month or two and see what escalates.

P.S.- Wouldn't grow shrooms fer now either. I'm pretty sure the equipment is legal, but dried they're not.

Needs a warrant to search your home. the nature is the perfect place for them now. ps i had the same thing happen to me the other day. some guy walked in front of my patio door while i was cleaning and i put them in the bring sun while i was cleaning so ghe saw them, i put em in the woods.

Just some idiot
I would move them. He probably measured the front porch to see if it met code. He would measure differently if he wanted to make sure that your front porch was square so that doesn't sound weird to me. But checking out the house without letting you know first is a big NO NO. Then again if he was looking for plants why would he knock on the door?

Now, better safe than sorry dude. For all you know, he could have been a cop scoping the place out. Are there neighbors nearby that might have ratted on you?

My last grow, my 16 year old stepson found our indoor grow. That was bad enough but then he brought a couple of the neighborhood kids to show them! Like you, I freaked out and almost destroyed them but decided against it. I figured who would believe a couple punk-ass kids. I would destroy them under your scenario if I had no one who'd keep them for me, though. Keeping them inside is the worst thing you can do if the cops are on to you. Good luck.

If your willingly aggreed to let him inspect your house, you're screwed. next time, tell him O.K., but come back at a better time.

You're the home owner! You can make up anything you like, or not give a reason at all. Noone has the right to come over un-anounced and walk your property. I know meter people do this, so you should never have plants just chilling where they can be seen.

This advice is just common sense, i don't have any legal knowledge of their rights. But, what if you had a naked wife sunbathing in the backyard? You have the right to ask him to come back later, after you've stashed the evidence.

If he was a cop, he needs a warrant to search your house.

But if he gets a warrant to search your house, it is fair game.

The safest thing to do is to move the plants until you get some more information.

During these times you have to be cautious, our very own Abudsmoker had his front door kicked in. He was safe. Get anything illegal out of the house.

Your plants will be fine in nature, that is where God (or whatever you believe in) intended them to be! If you have a friend who can hold them, that would be a safe bet also.

if he saw them and gave a shit he would have left and told the cops. they would have woke you up with a smashed in door.

he knocked on your door dude, told you what he was doing... counties send tax assessors to make sure your finished property matches the plans that were submitted prior to construction - to make sure you're paying the right amount of taxes for your property.

i say chill out and consider yourself lucky but don't have that stuff on your porch (unless your property is fenced/gated).

good luck with your nerves!

Well I definitely would have told him to come back later but when he knocked to tell me what he was doing and ask questions he said he had already completed the outside assessment which is where my plants are.

I would have never let him inside of my house, or anywhere near it if he had knocked first. I dont have a fenced in backyard But my whole property line is all fenced with barbed wire haha. I live on 1 1/2 acres.

This just sucks...Im supposed to be at work right now, and none of my friends are home.

But yeah I believe he said he was doing it for tax reasons. 7X I hope your right, if he was looking to get me busted I think he would not have given me a warning that he was there. But you never know.

Oh and thanks for all the support guys.

Feedback is still appreciated though, the more there is the better.

Call in sick, take them to the woods.

You are probably going to be okay.

Weigh the outcomes, it is not worth leaving them there.

Your right its not really worth the chance. Florida laws suck, I would be screwed.

Oh and lets just say he did tell the cops or was with the cops, anyone have any idea how long it would take before the cops got here?

hopefully he was an ass and didn't even know what they were or notice them. They arent flowering yet and just under 2 feet tall.
