If they're that small and aren't even flowering yet, then they probably don't even smell, so I wouldn't worry about it. He probably thought they were some bullshit flowers you had growing. I seriously think he may not have recognized them and didn't even think twice that they might've been marijuana plants.

Just some idiot
I will still move them, better safe than sorry. Even if he did recognize them and doesn't report it, who's to say that he doesn't come back and take them?

Thats another thing I was worried about...if he wanted to take them for himself. Anyways I think I got it figured out my friend is coming over in a couple hours to help me move them to a nice wooded area.

Thanks alot guys and I will definitely let you know if anything else happens. Hopefully nothing else happens though.

Any idea how long I should leave them over there for? A few days? a week? 2 weeks? Man I am going to miss tending to them every day and sitting with them on my back porch.

How long would the cops take to react???

Baaahhhhhhhhh

I need to smoke and chill out.

Just out of curiosity would a complaining neighbor be enough to get a search warrant? What kind of proof would the neighbor need for them to get a warrant, pictures or something?

He Had a city worker uniform on and a city truck. In Florida the city trucks are white with a decal of Florida on the sides.

He Started the assesment without me knowing and knocked on my door and let me know half way through. I thought they were supposed to go straight to your door and knock to let you know what is going on before doing ANYTHING.

He also did not give me his name or let me know who he was working for, although Its obvious he was working for the city unless he was a fake.

Do you really think the cops would waste their time on someone like me???

Cops would do surveillance first. Can you imagine how many false tips they get, or people wrongly identifying something that isn't what it appears to be. I don't feel like reading through, but if he comes again I would ask him what company he works for and see something supporting this. Your concerns of him being a cop or inspector may not be your biggest concern. What if this asshole is a thief scoping your pad out. Let someone come to my house talking about they are measuring this that and the other, hell with that. I want to see something, some sort of documentation as to who you are and the procedures you are following. I dont' care if I had a 1k plants, cause if it was a cop and the laws here were like that...i'm busted....f*** it. If you act guilty and insecure people will walk all over you.

Yeah I thought about the whole robbery scenario, definitely a possibility around here.

I stood there relaxed and answered his questions fine, I dont think I seemed guilty at all. Im pretty good about dealing with shit thats similar.

It is normal for the state to examine a property for tax reasons though isnt it?

AHHH RASCALONE DONT SAY THAT.

Yep, but the inspector usually does this during additions and at completion to make sure you follow codes. Insurance companies do it to raise your rates on you. Property tax I believe goes up depending on livable space...square feet.

No he was not a building inspector My home was inspected upon completion and all throughout being built. He said it was a property assessment. Im pretty sure he mentioned tax's.

Ok Guys I just got off of the phone with my dad he says its legit they were doing it for tax reasons. He says that its normal a few months after a house is built for them to come and check it for property tax, and whatnot.

All he cared about was if I told him the house had carpet and shit so it would be cheaper hahaha. But he said when in doubt get as much info from the guy as you can.

Im kind of new to all this stuff since this is my first home and im only 20. Just me and my girlfriend living here figuring everything out.

Anyways since I now know that he was legit ive calmed down alot.

I am still going to move the plants for about a week to an outdoor spot Im about to go check out.

Sounds like a typical tax assesment situation. They do not need to come inside for that. They are based on lot size, number of bathrooms and such.
That said, growing on your porch in a populated area is never safe.
If he noticed, he probably didn't care. Most people that have a problem with this stuff would have called the Cops, not knocked on the door of a dangerous, dope growing criminal.:peace:

Thanks for the info man.

Well im not in a very populated area. Its pretty much country my house is on a pretty big lot, and so are all of my neighbors. Everyones property is on about 2 acres of land so the houses are pretty far apart.

And I definitely agree if he did see them and cared I dont think he would have knocked on the door of a dangerous criminal...HAH. But yeah if he did see them and knocked anyways he must not of cared very much, or just didnt see them at all.

Once again thanks for all the info and support guys, you made this alot easier. :peace::peace::peace:
