thank you!

so fadedawwg..

my pk run was straight off the nug.. its soo weird how light the color is.. finished at 117F no crackle !

my SBC run was trim, and nugs.. way awesome color.. finished at 147F .. no crackle

do you know if the colors are more so dependent on strain, or the way it was grown?

I would think both have alot to do with it. Try taking some bag weed/reggie and making some that golden...not a fact but I don't think it would come out that good looking.

im just really baffled.. i think they all have a unique color, but as the material ages, they all turn a darker color? ya? my latest Pk was the lightest color i ever pulled. the pk pull before that, i had let the trim dry a tad.. that was my 2nd lightest color :] its sooo cool, coming off such a purply plant :]

but this orange colored stuff is crazzzzyyyy

Sativa seems to produce lighter extracts than Indica, and the younger fresh material is typically lighter than the older dried material. I have done fresh frozen C-99 in a thermos, and vacuum purged it after winterization, that in thin films was transparent and almost without color.

As you've noted, heat darkens the extract through decarboxylation, so we typically use 115F at -29.9 for hightest retained carboxylic acid and lightest colors.

can you really use 115F all the way through for all your extracts?

i can get so far doing that, and thats with pretty damn thin film purging. i doooo like to start off at that temp, but a lot of times my product just stops bubbling at 115F so i gotta raise it up, and get things moving..

So far, we have had good luck with 115F in thin films, but we typically make Absolute shatters, instead of wax.

rear post #7. congrats on wasting $50

Aww...shit...is it hit and miss? Or consistently giving results like that? I've never made bho but I've been doing all the research I can...i know everyone says the diameter of the drain port is excessive but I still read some good yield reports...
As this will be my first and on the cheap, I am planning to blast into a small pyrex lined with parchment paper, straight onto hot water bath then finish up on a usb cup warmer plate..I'm in no hurry so hopefully I can purge most of the tane..i know vac is the best way to go....but I'm poor....man your post really took the wind out of my sails!

haha sorry man, its not THAT bad. it worked and I got a 18% return with it... its just that theres way better out there.

I found it took 1 can to soak all the weed inside, and another .5 can before I even seen anything come out of the extractor.

the queen bee became extremely pressurized while spraying and when I went to switch cans, it was a huge hassle as it whistled and blew weed everywhere... wouldnt start to spray butane out the discharge end until it pressured up again which took another half can.

I ended up using 100g of nice shake, and ran 10 cans. got 19 grams return.

the shape of it is also very inefficient ive found.. fat and short is bad with extractors!!! you want a nice, tall, skinny tube. ive seen them made of glass, 1 inch wide and about 5 feet long.. perfect size IMO.

not sure about the diameter of the drain ports, but with these plastic capped extractors, its very easy to adjust the drain ports... get a pin or nail red hot, stick it through a hole, and it makes it bigger. OR heat it with a lighter, melt the cap a bit, and smush it down with your finger to block one of the holes off with the melted plastic. works great if you need to make any fine tuning.

dont let my post discourage you. the queen bee does work. I paid 45$ for it and only used it once... I use my smaller extractor (30g capacity), even if I had a 100g run again... id use the smaller one 3x before I used my queen bee again. it works, but the small one is less problems.

F#@!., wish I had spoken to you first! don't think ima even gonna use it...gonna move it on..knew I should of went turkey baster...i was just looking to do all my trim in one hit..decent return for doin the job..but 10 cans sounds a but excessive..i chose the unit because I thought it would be less fuss, less mess and no blowouts....ob well back to ebay...Thanks a ton vacpurge...

well 10 cans is probably too much.. but it was still coming out yellow. maybe that shows the queen bees efficiency... it took 10 cans to rinse only 100g...

not sure about the turkey baster method, that way seems kinda sketchy.

it will be less mess and no blowouts, thats for sure. I would say you either gotta use more butane, or expect to not rinse it 100%. not a huge deal.

I would highly recommend a 1" wide x 4 feet long glass tube. gotta be careful, obviously its very fragile.

Rodger...okay...so if I can minimize the depressurization of the unit between refills I may have a win...okay ima do it when she gets here...I'm not sure which butane to get in oz..can't find any of the stuff used on forums..10 cans sounds pricey too..extra runs in a smaller unit sounds ideal....
