Trimming. They call them "LEAVES" for a reason.

How close/well do you trim your buds? I've been looking at harvest pics lately and see a lot of people leave a little leaf material and some peoples seem to leave most of the smaller leaves poking out from the buds.

Am I the only one who prefers to not smoke leaf? I trim my buds completely and all leaf material is snipped to the stem if possible.

Post your techniques or process of trimming and/or pics of your trimmed buds. I will do the same in a few weeks once I harvest my girls.

I agree
I trim off all the leaves before I dry
then after I trim off more

I laugh at these people who will leave on the purple leaves when they dry
then call it purple
it's gona taste like shit cuz it's a LEAF
and a leaf doesn't make your buds purple

your buds do and that's where the taste is at mayne

gota save them leaves for hash tho

its all at the discrepancy of the trimmer. If the small leaves that are hugging the bud are covered with more than 50% trichromes it might be worth keeping to the cutter. Personally unless that leaf is COATED i would cut it off, just looks more professional ya know? Im all about that connoisseur cut.

I like to leave the leaves on if they are packed with trichs. My last harvest had some pretty dense trich formations on the leaves sticking from the bud. So I trimmed only the parts of the leaves were I could see more green than white/amber.

Of course I saved all the trimmings and made canna-butter with em.

i know im always pissed when i buy a bag and it has leaves on it NO MATTER how covered with trichs they are. I cant bring myself to smoke a nasty leaf when there is sweet bud behind it, the more leaves the more you cover the taste IMO.

You wouldn't get the nasty taste from the leaves if the grower used organic nutes along with a good long 1 - 2 week flush. At least mine doesn't taste nasty, mine actually is really smooth, despite the leaves.

I tend to trim as much leaf material as possible without destroying my buds. I like them to be whole yet very well trimmed. It's obviously preference but I feel leaf material is much better to be used in a tincture or hash oil. plus those little leaves have the highest concentration of cannabinoids aside from bud so it adds to the potency and flavor.

No not really, organic nutes makes no difference, smoke a bowl of just leaves and compare to a bowl of just bud.:joint:

When smoked, the leafy material of cannabis plants contains more cancer-causing carcinogens than tobacco. The cannabis BUD material has almost none. I remove as much leaf material as possible. If you save the trim for hash or oil making purposes then there is no reason to have leaves on your bud.

I like to leave some leaf on the buds when I trim them. Then i pick each bud clean of leaves later on, right before I smoke it. I like to have leaves to make kief, as I go, instead of all at once.

Well I pretty much trim all the big ones then the small ones. A lot of the time the leaves have a lot of THC on them so I will leave those on. Just trim till it looks "nice"

I am equally as skeptical about this as the guy above me. Whatever nutrients and/or carcinogenic substances that exists in the leaf must have also entered the buds considering they both are connected to the main stem and absord the same things. Unless you are suggesting that these carcinogens orginate within the leaves. Maybe just by virtue of what the leaves are made of. Are you suggesting that?
