I am a huge proponent of MMJ and an advocate to legalize Marijuana for recreational purposes but I do not believe California as a state is ready to pass this bill. My own personal opinion is that under our current system the rules are being abused...I mean how easy is it for anyone to get MMJ?? It is supposedly medicinal but let's be realistic, most of it is for recreational purposes. I don't want Marijuana to be more pervasive and more regulated and I fear that is what will happen if we pass this proposition...I am completely comfortable with the status quo for the time being...I do not belive it is perfect but it is a better approach than the alternatives.

We need to end the PROHIBITION. look at what happend with alcohol once prohibition was removed. I vote for FULL legalization for anyone over the age of 21 period, cannabis is way less detremental to your health than alcohol and its still illegal? Imagine taking it out of the hands of the south american druglords, wow even our war on drugs would be a winning battle. And our borders would be a bit safer as well, cuz its here already, why would they continue to import it?

I would like to know your opinion as to what happened after the alcohol prohibition ended?

I have fought loved ones for years with your same arguement about the health affects of legal drugs compared to MJ.

After the prohibition ended we had less alcohol related & smuggling crime for sure, also opened the door for a whole industry, look at sky vodka, micro brews, high end whiskeys, low end alcohol for the masses, coors, budweiser........ Man really? look at the comercialization of it. Imagine what the world would look like with cannabis on the same level as alcohol, or looked at as less detrimental than alcohol at least. just the social acceptance of it would be enough for me to vote for legalization.

Some think it would be too comercialized and lose its connasoure status..... I say not.... again look at the alcohol industry, all kinds of connasoure drinks, micro brews, home brew kits......and so on and so on......

The acceptance has moved drastically in the last couple decades. It is well accepted, obviously, or it would not be on the ballot to begin with.

imo. The prohibition gave all control of the industry to the government in which they collect more on a bottle of liquor than the manufacture does that made it. That doesnt seem right?!?! Cant sell after 2am. What else...

You talk as though after it is legal it will still be in the hands of the people. What is to say that the government will not employee companies to provide all MJ for everyone, maybe even outsource it to another country were the labor is cheaper and the climates are more ideal to begin with. Ever think of the "industry" it would make in this respect??? Maybe then we would have a war over MJ, like gasoline, after 30-40 years of outsourcing, send our grandkids to war for it, id be a new war on drugs.

actually the US provides its own marijuana. accross the nation. south american drug lords control mainly the coke coming in, not marijuana. maybe florida and some other south east states might get a little bit, but the majority comes from right here in our own back yard.

32 votes doing good. I love the feedback too. I know it got heated a little there in the beginning but I think we are on a roll now...

25 Now

3 Later

4 Never

Suprising the Never's are still more than the Later's. I knew some would say no and maybe the ratio of No to Yes was predictable but, not as many in the middle as I thought there might be.

I say not yet...
a 5x5' grow space.. please.
Not to mention counties and zoning would have it out of almost every conservative city throughout cali. They'd treat it like liquor or strip clubs and zoning will have you buying your weed on the dark side of the tracks again. There is already a great system supported by compassionate people. And as trite as it sounds, it's a medicine before a 'recreational drug'. Legalize hemp, which on a worldly level, is more important... only then should we consider the psychoactive byproduct.

hey I think you give the people too much credit----LOL that is what I said when I heard they removed the toy from the drive thru slappy meal. Yes, that is right being governed by your gov't because the kids were Governing where the parents go to eat. Think about that.
I think Laws are usually for money. I look at all enforcement as tax. I see a badge I see tax/fine I think Pot or whatever you want to call it canna---should have never been outlawed.
Why would you allow your neighbors our people Americans Viet Vets to waste or spend money to foreign countries who use it to try and destroy us? I am talking about the Foreigners, who are off US Soil and take the Pot and turn it into guns and the likes of. Like Ron Reagan said "Why can't a man roll up a Doobie?" I am sure that is out of context, never the less if you play it real slow it makes sense. Like gas--- giving Arabs cash or letting the Chinese steal our reserve because they are in international waters----yet we cannot do it because why? Like the Golf of Mexico? No, I think it should have never been outlawed can you imagine the money that was shipped off US Soil and then used against us because of a fight for what a plant that can effect you for 1.5 hours max from the award winning Amsterdam strains or the Dutch-- you get it/ 1.5 hr buzz if you smoke it right and do get the good stuff and from what I see around here most of you harvest a little earlier anyways---thereby reducing the length... Oh boy rant Sorry. Long live America and her real purpose of Freedom! Outlaw Gas stop the Arab dead in his tracks. Oh wait---no one wants to walk. How about instead of enforcing new laws and leaning on the people take that money earmark it for solar and fossil free propeltion. I am sure we can find other neat stuff to spend to keep our economy hustling and bustling---like a new HPS light (made in China) LOL

I hate theses threads, too many of them are "Im pro pot, as long as it's not legal for everyone" or " I dont want it legalized because I wont be able
to be a law breaking drug dealer anymore"

These arguments are ridiculous when put against a legal way of doing things for everyone. If your pro pot, be pro pot! Some people need to step away
from their bongs long enough to see the whole picture.

The only comparison that needs to be made for legalization is the comparison between alcohol prohibition and its failure and marijuana's current failing
prohibition.

For starters you can go to war at 18 but this law will do nothing for you. Currently if you are caught with 28 1/2 grams or less, you are lookin at a fine of $25 to $60 depending on what area you are in. Marijuana is already de criminalized in Californiia. IF this law passes, anyone under 21 with even a joint can literally do time. You got a nephew or a friends kid that is 20 years old and you wanna give em a hit,you could do 3 to 5 years. Also,if your over 21 and you get caught with more than 28 1/2 grams, you will be in more trouble than before. If your kid decides to try marijuanna at 15 or 16 like most kids. Or sooner,I know. I started at 11. Anyway, your kid gets caught trying it for the first time, they can get 3 years. This law is a scam and a hustle by California, aimed at people that they know won't really read the shit. This law will RE CRIMINALIZE marijuanna in California. You watch, the revenue they crerate will go to people to figure out how to spend it. But most of it will go to task forces to fight all the new crime that this law will create. I mean think about it,right now your only real fear is the Fed. If this law goes through you better believe you'll be runnin from the state too. It will be ten times easier for them to see what your doin, you truly will be stuck with your 25 sq ft area. That's what, one perfect outdoor plant? Also,if your growing and some kid jumps in your yard and jacks you, gets caught smokin it down th street and says he got it outta your yard YOU could do 5 years. The prediction is anywhere up to $80 a gram on the street if this law goes. Typically people don't get shot up as much over weed. But if it starts costin as much as coke or others, your gonna see more of it. Than were gonna need more police to handle it. I'm tellin you,it's not what you think and Cali will not get any better financially. It's a hustle. Make sure you guys read EVERYTHING,not just the good points. Vote NO.

I love it... This is info I had not heard of. I will be 110% honest. I havent read all the stipulations about this bill, nor have I read the petitions at wallmart, but I know that CA is not ready yet, simply from the demonstration of prop 215. They WILL be but not in Nov. Legalization is not the concern, it is the CONTROL....

Thank you for dropping by and voting.

And no I don't know everything about the law,but I DO know that it's not the hell yeah lets get high bill people think it is. I wonder how many 18 year olds will vote yes and than get popped 2 weeks later smokin and do 2 years. All the way down to lookin harder at new DUI checkpoints,California will pay out the ass defending the new Legalization law. The streets will turn to shit, nothins gettin cheaper, trust me. This law is more about control than legalization.
