Tiresias Mist breeding experiment

Hey everyone!!

Lots of excitement here at the house as we prepare the girls for harvest! They have been flushing now for about 5-6 days with RO h2o+ Molasses, then just yesterday with RO+ Final Phase (AN).

The Blue Widows and Chem are so sticky that they are hard to separate each other for maintenance. The Blues smell like danky feet, like always, but we had a problem with the A/C unit in the room that I didnt notice and remedy until just 2 days ago. The A/C was set for 65F but the room wasn't cooling past 73F..Yada yada yada..long story short, I changed the air filters, drained the condensation line (dual de-humidifier feature), and just generally cleaned the unit up. She's back up and running at full tilt, now a cool 63-64F at night. Unfortunately, the room hasn't been cold for long enough to get the blue colors out of my Blues. Sorry guys, guess you'll just have to take my word that they do turn blue.:-(

We haven't ever really noticed too much of a color variation with this strain of Chem, but they are frosty as hell and smell divinely hashy. Can't wait to smoke her up. We also noticed that the one flower that we pollinated has very swollen seed bracts; 2 or 3 of them are already split open! Hopefully we get 5-10 mature seeds of our BlueDawg strain, so that I have a nice spectrum of phenotypes to choose from to go f2 with. Ideally, we'd grow out 100's of them to look for that true killer mother, but alas, we just don't have the space.

In other news, the Cotton Candy and the Criticals are on week 5 and looking great! We noticed a few small spider-mite linger-ers so I introduced them to my friend max, Aza-max! Ha, Take that!

Finally, I took some samples (popcorns) off 2 Blues and the Chem to do my customary, 'Harvest Double Check Test.' Basically, what this is, is just a quick pre-harvest sample that I take to smoke to check if the buds are fully flushed or if they will spark when smoked. I microwaved a few popcorns (4 econds on, 10 seconds off) until they were dry enough to smoke. I put flame to them and drew it thru the bong, but didn't inhale. Sure enough they all ashed a nice whitish-grey and with no sparks! Of course I know this isn't necessary, but after one early harvest a few cycles back, I started doin' it just to make sure.

They look amazing guys!! Well done! Looks like quite a bit of chopping. How many days to cure with that low RH out there? :)
Having this low of humidity is a big problem when it comes to drying and curing. We have to make sure they are completely different steps. We noticed that drying needs to take at least 5 days if you dont want the buds tasting like hay. We use non-coated paper bags to assist with this. It usually takes us 7-10 days for 3-4 inches of pre-trimmed wet bud to dry in the bags.
For the cure we like to use air-tight glass jars. Because they're air-tight the cure can be as long as we make it. Obviously longer is better, but when the herb is scarce sometimes its lucky to make it 4 weeks LOL:oops:

Aaaactually.....8)

.. dont tell anybody, but I am starting the planning phase of an outdoor Greenhouse grow. Im quivering with the thought of unleashing the power of the AZ sun on my girls, specifically id like to run NL5 X Haze from Sensi and the Cotton Candy (Delicious) that Im running now, in a 12x20 (roughly 250 sq ft)x 12 ft tall structure yet to be determined and built.

Ive been thinking a lot that I'd like to get away from having more, smaller plants and start growing just a few really large ones.

Damn, awesome choice and good space to work with too. I'm going to plant some in my neighbors yard with an anonymous note that says "Thanks for all you do" :D

I know, Im excited to try it.

My main dilemma at this point is designing/finding a structure that is light enough to be portable (pack up in 1 day), but solid enough to withstand monsoons in August...

I've got a little while to surf for ideas and plan though, as my goal is to have it ready for planting March 1, 2014. Im gonna make sure its badass.8)
