The new tops are already starting, look closely in pic 2, it's really hard to get in close enough for a pic as it's getting kinda busy in here.
Still doesn't need any water today, but my meters came and I compared the old one to the new one.

The old meter was reading my regular tap water at 150ish, the new meter reads it at 470ish! So bottled water for the rest of the grow I think?
I'd love an RO filter but it'd cost more than what my whole setup was.
For now it's about $4 for 12L of water, that's about 12-13 feedings, feeding once every 3-4 days.
So $4 for 36-52 days worth of water isn't too bad?

LST begins. I'm starting slow, I've pulled each top away from centre maybe 2 or 3 mm.
I had to trim off the last of the affected shade leafs as they were in the road of the LST.
The tiny new tops will most likely show as leafs tomorrow, for now they are just small bumps.
I watered again with just plain bottled water. The new growth was showing slight discolouration at the tips and the run off is still fairly high ppm which shows me there is still a bit of nutes left over. IMG_1388.JPG IMG_1389.JPG IMG_1391.JPG

Something else I noticed today... my water isn't exactly "pure".
What are people's thoughts on these numbers?
IMO:
The cal and mag will probably help the whole way through.
The Potassium will offer marginal help in flower.
But the sodium, chloride and Bicarbonate are all completely unknown to me as far as what they do to a plant.

In saying all that it seems to be working for now?

I finally got some time alone so I refitted the grow box with brand new fans and a new thermometer/hydrometer.
The new fans are GREAT! Even when running at 12v full speed they are more silent than my ACTUAL PC right next to it.
I've also put in 2 x 60mm fans. One sucks air in through the light trapped intake, the other I've glued to some small stakes and can move it around the room to blow air onto the plant.
I'll still need to do a few more things before I can flower, like the carbon filters and install some screens on the intake fans so they don't eat any leafs.

But all in all I'm very happy with the new upgrades!

She's absolutely THRIVING compared to the last couple of weeks.
Temps with the new fans have been great, 28.5*c when I first opened the door. Humidity I think is a bit low, 40%?
I think the overnight burst in growth is probably best contributed to not only the increase in airflow, but air movement provided by the small 60mm fan blowing directly onto the plant.
The new tops are just about to open up any day now, as soon as they've gotten established I'll top once more then throw it into flower. (hopefully 6-7 days from now)
The only thing I'm starting to get a bit antsy on is when I'll feed it next? I think the "over fed" stage is well and truly over, but it would break my heart if that happened again.
I'm thinking I'll wait at least until next week when the flip to flower happens and even then barely feed it anything. just increase really slowly.

Yea I usually go slow till the tips burn then stop flush cut off the burns and go slow again till it burns repeat. But there's probably a better way

I can tell you for soil I use the FoxFarm system. I start with pH adjusted water 5.8-6.2. I decide based on the container size how much food I want to start with, such as a small container I would mix a quart. I take the amount per gallon and use a quarter of that. After the mixture is complete (based on week #), I then dilute the mixture with water to the correct EC value using an electronic meter. I feed them usually about every 4 days or so, every other watering. They seem to love it, check out my journal.

Keep up the good work!

The new tops are powering on!
The plants gained about 15mm in all directions overnight.

I went shopping today and was ecstatic to find a brand of seaweed concentrate that I used to get great results out of 10 years ago is still available.
It's awesome stuff, BRILLIANT for building root mass in mid vedge to very early flower.
I'll use it tomorrow when I water until the 2nd week of flower.
Now if I can only find an AU stockist of superthrive!

I've decided on a feeding schedule:
Day 1 feed, day 3 or 4 plain water, day 6 or 7 seaweed, day 10 or 11 return to day 1.

I watered 3 days ago with plain water, tomorrow is the day I'll give it a dose of seaweed I'd say 4-5 days later I'll give it feed.
Then top one last time, and then flip it over to flower as soon as the 3rd lot of tops are big enough to tie down.

I know it'll still be small by that stage but from my experience the first 2 weeks or so of 12/12 the plant will still vedge and grow about another 2/3 in size.

Pulled the strings a bit tighter.
Gave it a dose of Seaweed extract.
One thing I learnt off a guy that worked in a plant nursery, with seaweed extracts, mix them up the night before you intend to use them.
It'll stink less and breaks down slightly so it is easier for the plant to make use of.
I don't know about the breaking down bit, but I can say it smells so much better when mixed up in a water bottle and left for a few hours.
Last night it smelt like a cat threw up in a bait shop the moment I opened the bottle, tonight it just smells like wet freshly cut grass.

Nice journal you've got going here! I'm along for the ride. I'd like to see how your plant will stretch once you throw it into flower, hopefully it won't outgrow the case!

On my second grow and always love learning and reading something new. Pc case grows are interesting to me keep it up

Thanks mate, always glad to see another subscriber.
I'm more worried that I might be a bit eager flipping the lights over next week. I just hope it stretches ENOUGH.
But I'd rather it be too small than to big.

How'd your first grow go? Success? Any issues that you found a solution to?
I'm always looking for people's experiences and lessons learnt.

Yeah man I mean they tend to stretch at least 2x especially sativa and sativa hybrids but I think you will have just enough space for your girly. I'm excited for you :)

I pulled around 9 oz from 10 plants all different sizes and ages, mainly because I am new to growing and because I went from planting 2 to fuck it plant em all within 3 weeks of each other.

My current grow is ridiculously different and better in every way I've implemented 3 3.5' by 3.5' concrete mesh screens as scrog's in my 8' by 14' flower room. Currently on day 18 of flower with some White widow x Big bud and Critical super silver haze clones

Yeah bro not trying to show off or nothing, I've always learned a lot from pictures especially off this site.

Still picking up on how to increase yields, trich and resin production and where to find better genetics.
What have you grown before this one?
that's quite the fucking setup is that a hydro setup ?
Pro mix hp with added perlite vermeculite happy frog potting soil and some worm castings. I've learned I like blank slate soils so I will do all pro mix next run so I don't get deficiencies or lock anything out when feeding
