~The Vumar Grow~ RDWC

It's been a slow veg because I have been improving my room, system, changing things etc. Ran into custom RDWC problems (LEAKS~!), now running into water temps issues and I cant afford a water chiller... so i stick to my hydroguard and iced cubes. For another week or two before I can order one.
$300 Ships one to my doorstep! Not bad =P

Oh right... my excuse came first... ugh Ill answer the questions I suppose now. bongsmilie

These are 4 weeks into veg. I veg based on plant size... I'll be turning lights off for 13 hours and on for 11. I want to veg within the next week so I dont overgrow myself AGAIN.

Its OK. My cloner runs at like 90F in the summer. I've never had root rot on them in the cloner. Ambient temps of 80F and a pump running 24/7 will do that. I sure do love the 4 day root time though.

Well you know where I am at... My DWC buckets just did fine and I didnt think the waterpump and reflected heat off the totes would cause that much heat build up. Not really trying to add whole bags of ice (from store) that's water from god knows what quality of water. Off topic

How often do you flush your RDWC system of ALL its water/chelated salt build up. I know you cant just keep adding water in and adding a little nutrients everytime because I assume salt build up will occur due to constant un-used nutrients not being removed. Am I in-correct and if so is there an explaination?

What? you can't??? Guess I'm finding out myself because I may dump the res once and start new the entire cycle of flower. Top it off and add this or that to bring it back up.

Well I am not sure if they are taking up the NPK or Cal-Mag so I add a decent amount of each... Check PPMs at .7 EC ATM and have a slight burn. Been heavy on the cal-mag because I read somewhere the water pump will slowly depreciate the levels of some micro-nutrients. So @ttystikk is this common practice for you to fill a res and only completely flush it at the end of the veg cycle, reset the res fully at beginning of flower than clean and repeat?

I dump and refill with fresh nutes every two weeks.

I never sterilize, not even between runs.

Well that is because you run organic nutes. Do you need an inline filter or sub-pump filter bag when you run your nutrients AFTER straining them? Wondering how organic nutrients interfere with the pump and/or how often the filter has to be changed (if you use one?).

Plain water every few weeks thru the system myself. No flush and my res nev3r reaches bottom. I add water and nutes on top of what's there Too.

Also I took our and filters on the pump, since i don't really have to work about anything getting clogged up. Cause I'd the tube diameters and all.

I don't do RDWC but I change my res fully every other res fill up. Which is like 10-14 days.

To top off I use water with hydroguard in it and pour it over my medium and drench the roots in it. Then i'll add the nutes into the reservoir at the same ratio I put them in at.

I was doing 8ml/gal of bloom and boost and 4ml/gal magiCal in flower targetting around 1.2EC with .16EC tap. I'd add 1ml/gal magical for every 2ml/gal of bloom and boost until I got to my desired EC.

I don't let water level get too low as it dries and browns the roots out where they come out the netpot. They get "air pruned"
