Any ideas on what could be causing the lizard yellow?....it is something that is too much in my old SS...i mixed three different soils plus amendments, and i think something added up to be too much...my guess is K, because i also added comfrey and kelp.....so almost sure its the K, cause a few of my outdo girls in the same mix showed the same....i know there is plenty of juice, but something is locking something out.........she does show some scorching down bellow, but nothing major, no cupping or curling, just yellow green......buds are growing like a mother fucker though.....hope to have this worked out with my new mix......any ideas?

found this in the archives...

  • When you have too much Potassium in your soil, it can lead to big troubles, like salt damage and acid fixation of the root system, as well as too much potassium can cause a calcium deficiency. Your fan leaves will show like a light to a dark yellow to whitish colour in between the veins. Due to a molecular imbalance, potassium toxicity can cause a reduced uptake and lead to the deficiencies of Mg, and in some cases, Ca. Also leads to the other nutrients to not be absorbed properly leading to lots of other deficiency such as: magnesium, manganese, zinc and iron and can cause problems with calcium as well.

...the "TOO MUCH" gremlin got me again....trying to make something better by "just adding a little of this"......when am i going to fucking learn?..........but now i can laugh with the rest of those "in the know" next time the post "Dude, why isn't there more Potassium in SS?" comes up in the forum.......

Nugs, how long did the soil cook? If the microbes have been busy for weeks and the soil is just moist, all those cations should have been broken down and locked up in the humus and clay and not available for plant roots. Unless there was not enough compost or clay, Or you really dumped a K source, but I'm not telling you anything new.

I add kelp to the SS recipe, and while I haven't followed SS stuff in a while, I seem to remember he was now adding kelp.

i remember during our discussion on recycling s.s. that i thought you went too far re-amending your base soil. and maybe the s.s as well. i think used super soil with castings and oyster shell makes a fine base. i will edit this post as i dig up that thread. more to come..

ended up using my recycled super soil as my new base.....i just added EWC, gypsum, little azomite, 50# compost, few pounds of tomato tone 3-4-6...(really not much) and about 2 lbs of high N guano....and now she will get inoculated, and cook along side with my new batch of super soil for the next 9-10 weeks..........i mixed them both hot, cause i plan to run sativas with it.
i think the issue is with tomato tone and the Guano. some true aact is in order.. consulting hemp diseases and pests for an answer.

edit: from what i can tell the ladies are in general, over fertilized. l think placing the blame specifically on the K might not be accurate.

If you have the cal spots ( red rust spots) but not nute burns then its most likely cal lockout from too much potassium or magnesium. All you can do is flush.

.
to me it looks like iron and/or sulfur deficiency, zinc deficiency. iron - seaweed / kelp. sulfur - epsom salt. zinc - anything with potassium.
either can be locked out by low ph

or could be over thinking it and its just phos deficiency

if it were too much potassium the leaves would be a dark yellow to white color

cal def would start out as lizard green edges and tips similar to the beginnings of zinc def. then have red rust spots and red / brown tips then yellow. the center of the leaf along the veins would fade last

Mag def would be bright yellow tips then spread along the edges.

cal lock out ^^^^

My soma rock bud was doing the same thing. I gave it a 1 tsp top dressing of roots organic uprising. Within a few days, the leaves turned darker bright green and lush. that was a week ago

thanks bro.....i agree....just too much....period.......too much of something will lock out something else and so on....its not a big deal, i made some adjustments working a lot of fresh Vermifire base in to the program, and so far its working...the new ladies look amazing......in my quest to find a higher quality base soil, i plan to run a plant in pure Vermifire throughout, then build a super soil from there....i really like the consistency and water holding ability of Vermifire, with added coco, and EWC...it is nice and spongy like a rooter plug that has the proper moisture.....coco is some cool shit, and i think the growers that are using mixes with higher coco %'s are on the right track.....wish i could make the School of dank so i could pick Dioxides brain.....

Lab Update......:leaf:

The Tahoe White girls showed early herm tendencies, so they were culled....sorry Budman....but i do not fuck with anything that even resembles nuts....it is never worth it..Ripped Bubba in rooters to take it's spot......so the "first run" stage is set....Fruity Pebbles, Timewrecks 1 and 2, Queen of Hearts, Space Jill, and Sour AK-47 in the big flower room.....and (this is nuts) Chernobyl's 1,2, and 3 and Harliquin in the mini cab.......call me crazy but i am going to try to run tall plants (chernobyl) from seed in a mini cab...retarded, but it is what it is...you guys are going to see some serious bonzai shit happening in there!....everything is cloned, so i have to start ripping through these girls looking for keepers, and really wanted to run my chernobyls together.....so i started to bond the shit out of them, i will also flip them immediately after transplant, and keep the nighttime temps up....to minimize stretch....will probably run them 13 1/2 hours also.....video update coming soon.....
