Having trouble maintaining a 5.5-6.5 ph level in the runoff water. It's all seems to becoming out at around 5.0 or Lower :(.. Any suggestions?

I'm using coco coir and perlite as a growing medium

don't worry about your runoff in coco, just water it in at 5.8-6.2, it naturally buffers and you aren't going to be able to make it come out where you want it to no matter how hard you try.

Make sure you don't have really high ppms or ec coming out, a salt buildup is another problem entirely.

I agree SR, I am using Hempy's and I used to check the runoff and get crazy, Now I occasionally check run off, but only for high ppm/ec for possible salt buildup. I water one and sometimes two times a day with nutes at 2/3 rate, make sure I get 1/3 runoff.

Rlouie5688, if I do see any salt build up I water/nute with 1/3 rate nutes with at least one gallon nute solution for every gallon/pot, basically a flush. I go back to the 2/3 rate after flush. I always keep my pH at 5.8 to 6.0.

Good luck on your grow,

GR

Greatly appreciated!

Has anyone ever main lined a Blackberry or Bubblelicious from Nirvana? I am thinking about trying this method with them.

Also, I have a 4'x4'x7' box with 1000w hid set up. How many main lines plants do you think I can fit?

I've never grown those strains and I have only limited experience with mainlining (and growing in general). There are some really experienced people here so I would follow their advice before mine but I'll throw in my 2 cents :D

I've done 2 mainline grows now and I have noticed that for the best yields, less is more when growing to 8 colas. The problem is getting enough light all over the plants. I think you could grow 2 in that space or if you lollipop you could just fit 4. If you do decide to grow 8 cola monsters, pay attention to spacing out the nodes during veg. Have those colas evenly spaced out before you flip and you will get a better yield. It is the area where I still need to improve. I can get a flat canopy but spacing it just as important.

I grow in a 2.6 x 2.6 size tent and I have 2 in there and it is tight (look at my sig). My next grow I am going with 4 plants but scaling back to 4 main colas per plant and spacing each cola out 20cm from each other. (Thinking of a SOG method but with mainling).

I have grown a strain that was a Blackberry/Grape Ape x Cotton Candy, it made a great manifold/mainline grow. I would do 4 plants, they should not be all that tall using that method but give them plenty of room to fill out.

Just posted to my journal, White Rhino and Exodus Cheese, day 24 of 12/12.

Ladies are doing fine, the WR is ahead of the EC at least by a week plus. Thinking the EC is going to take 10 to 15 extra days, unless she comes on strong between now and harvest date.

The clones are about ready to go in to 1 gallon coffee cans, going to do 12 WR and 4 EC plus keep a mother of each strain.

Alright, so here are a couple of pics of my nephews mainline plant...the first one is 4 days into flower and the other is 27 days into flower...from everything we've read we were expecting a major stretch once in flower, but as you can see not much happening...buds are producing, but was expecting taller colas from the stretch...any advise would be great...image.jpegimage.jpeg

Yeah, that probably needed 2-3 weeks more Veg after that last topping, to make
more plant to work with.

Good luck,

Is it possible that the plant is root bound?? Causing the lack of stretch and weak looking leaves??
Doubt they are root bound, the mix looks dry, not sure what your using, looks like coco.
Also, what is the strain?

Did you take off any fan leaves after the last topping? It seems really thin. How many nodes did you have when you flipped the plant?

I believe everything was left on the each of the 8 mains... Everything below them was removed... Been trying to stay as close to the directions that were laid out at the beginning of this thread

The pic was taken just before watering... Yes coco and perlite... Strain is unknown, bag seed of some pretty good smoke...

hello, i was researching main lining and wanted to in-cooperate that into my first grow, i was wondering how long does it take for a node to grow after it is topped to the third node ? also would it be ok for me to use a 1000w hps bulb for 4 - 8 plants ? thanks in advance.
